especially when ed is telling people on live interviews that it will be their back to roots album, plays save you before the album comes out which is deiferant than anything on the record and it misled a lot of people
Yea, that could be a problem, describing things like it ain't.
you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.
Hence, as a classic rock faithfull, my love for Riot Act.
Sorry to come into this so late... but as a fellow classic rock fan, I have to say I have a completely different opinion. I hear the classic rock dripping off of YIELD, but to me Riot Act has none of the qualities I would associate with classic rock - ie, guitar solos, riffs, anthems, etc.
RA seems much more introspective to me. There's nothing that makes me want to crank up the car stereo, roll down the windows, and drive fast. IMO, If you can't play air guitar to it, it's not classic rock!

Even songs like 1/2 Full, I Am Mine, Thumbing My Way, All or None? I'm not talking like 80's anthem rock, I'm talking real classic rock.
I don't exactly hear Yield at all as a classic rock, or even anthem rock. Totally wierd how two people listening to the same music can hear such different things about it. Still cool though.

My favorite thing about riot act is that "Live at Chop Suey" special that was on VH-1. I thought it was cool because they showed those Chinese dudes fryin up some meat while Pearl Jam played.
I feel like when I come in here that I'm in the Twilight Zone.
I figured you came in here looking for your yield cd, he's getting older, and starting to roam away from home and rebel.
Pretty soon he will be meeting woman and not spending as much time with you.
Just make sure he wears protection.

I have like 4 of Yield I told you a while ago my plastic fell apart, I just pick everyone I se up, used I mean.
It really is a nice case, besides being the best album, it also has the best packaging
and cover and inside.
Wait Im telling you this.
I was just listening to Riot Act and I got looped by 1/2 Full. I remembered how kick ass it is, and then went and relistened to all of the live versions. Wow! This song rocks! The live versions of it are incredible. McCready always knocks his solo out of the park during this one.
This song doesn't get enough love. Not even close!

I definitely wouldn't want only that, but I do love it. [/quote]

Awesome talking with you too. And Rockking certainly was able to help me (and I think both of us) clarify what we were both trying to say.
I'm 21 (in two weeks) and at the point where I also love everything about Pearl Jam.
I guess we're both brainwashed.

- Love Boat Captain
- I Am Mine
- Thumbing My Way
I think it's an excellent album.
Yea. Me too
Yosi, look at the YIELD thread. You might be happy with what I discovered last night.

Looking right now.
Riot Act, drink it in. It always goes down smooth.
Time sometimes distorts reality. It's still my least favorite PJ album, but I am willing to admit that I've been too harsh on it lately.

I guess thats the best I'm going to get from you .
Every album cant be your favorite.
Theres albums that just get more airplay in certain houses/cars/ipods.

Of course not. And theres no reason each one should be. Each album has different songs that appeal more and less to each person.
The album of theirs that I listen to least is probably Vitalogy.
Love The cropduster/ghost combo
You Are!!! Green Disease!!! Help, Help!
The albums so diverse, songs for all occasions, yet its a laid back album, a party album and a play-in-the-car album all in one!!
"Who is driving? Oh my god Bear is driving, how can that be?! ...Car full of midgets!"

Not gonna lie, 1/2 full is always the dead spot for me, both live and studio version
Wierd.
