Love BC and they have many good craft brews...but you do know that Mt. Begbie can be found in your home town. Our favourites are the Nasty Habit and the Tall Timber Ale.

PROST all, and enjoy whatever you're drinking!

    lol.... quite a rant.

I will say , that the best "new-to-me" DIPA i've had in a long time was the Double Jack. Firestone Walker just started distributing to Houston about 6 weeks ago... completely blown away by the awesomeness of Double Jack. The nose is so grapefruit, citrus, and melon... it is beautiful... lately my mantra is to try something new every time i go to the beer store... but that beer was so delicious i'd go back to it in a heartbeat.... even the fiance was in awe over it... she drank almost half the bottle and was like "you should go get more of that!"

right now, enjoying my first My Antonio from DFH (just started distributing it to Texas) it's quite enjoyable, the 7%ABV is barely noticeable.... contrary to the post above ( ;) ) i enjoy a lot of what DFH has to offer... burton baton is one of my favs.... i recently conducting an aging experiment with the beer though, and will advise that even though it says "ages with the best of them" on the bottle, it is definately better fresh.

We have a My Antonio in the fridge, can't get it in Canada,it's a left over from our trip to Seattle. Wish we had a Double Jack! I love that beer, and I'm not the hop head in our family. I love the aroma. I steal Mr. Guitars glass and huff it!

 .... when i first opened the bottle i was like a 5 year old that first discovered glue (terribly analogy I know), but the smell was just so fucking awesome... the fiance is not a hop head in the least, but after I opened it and was smelling it repeatedly, she was like "what's your problem?"and then smelled it herself and drank 1/2 my bottle

the best part is that the taste matches it... I'm sure it won't be long until i get more.... honestly, it's been a long time since I was that impressed by a beer, and i'm glad that I hadn't tried it before it was available to me on a regular basis....

Firestone Walker's Double Jack is also a magnificent DIPA, super hoppy/grapefruity and bold. Love the stuff. If you are a fan (sounds like shep & guitar 59 are) - TODAY IS THE DAY!!! Their amazing Oatmeal Stout is released for the first time ever in bottles!!!

Tickets went on sale a month ago and sold out in minutes...thank goodness a buddy got one and will be driving down in 2 weeks to place it in my ever-loving hands

For the record re: Dogfish - I do think they are over-rated, however they make some fine beers. Last year I had the pleasure of sharing a few 10 year old World Wide Stouts and they were ass-kicking good. Sippers, no doubt.
Personally, just not a huge fan of their IPA's.

    PROST!

I am curious to try the Nasty Habit,

where in Calgary could I find it?
I'm pretty sure Willow Park doesn't carry it.

I was at their tasting room last month, and got the glass - pretty fun event. Even matched some grub up with it.
The green bullet hops and pacific gem hops make it very hoppy, somewhat sweet and super citrusy - like a good resiny, hop punch - 'Green Bullet' is a super tasty Green Flash offering, next to 'Palate Wrecker', probably my fave from their brewery...Almost like a barley wine...'Green Bullet' is a Triple IPA and 3 pints in, you realize it! Highly recommend it...

Tonight I'm cracking open my Mother Earth Brew Co "Primordial" DIPA and having a few "Enjoy By 10.25.13" fresh from my growler fill @ 11. Rumor has it there is a very limited amount of Quingenti Millilitre 'Wagner" blends of Highway 78 Scotch Ale on sale at the store today, so its time to line up and make a donation. :D

Nothing like great beer to look forward to! PROST!

had my first bottle of Black Butte XXV last night... been on a real bourbon barrel aged beer kick as of late... it's been great.... i will say that the BBXXV definitely tasted "young", almost like it hasn't had enough time to blend yet... glad i have two more bottles... i will hold onto them until the "best after" date.

I had an in-law drop in town thursday night from norway.... dropped off a pretty looking package i was quite impressed with:

    762c1f4f-1614-4284-81be-0d9b6bd1706e.jpg

a bunch of beer from a norwegian brewery called Nogne O.... 2 x 4th edition dark horizon, 1 each of the 2nd and 3rd edition of red horizon (brewed with sake yeast) and a mikkeller beer geek breakfast stout (which I had when I was in norway and it is awesome)...

also found me some oskar blues ten fidy at the grocery store today...

    all-in-all a good beer weekend!

    Good luck with that...

FYI - Founders expanded into the state of Texas earlier the year... they have been supplying plenty of their regular line up, but they have not been giving the market it's fair share of the limited releases...

They sent 4 x 1/6 barrel kegs of KBS to the entire city of Houston (7 million people). 4 fucking pony kegs!!! Literally every bar that got one had it on tap for less than an hour before it was gone... Only 30 cases of KBS made it here.... they sent 20 cases of Mango Magnifico to the entire city as well...

apparently they want more markets, but are pretty much being dicks about their limited releases.
