I chose the wrong time to take a couple weeks off from drinking to shed a few lbs. I have an excellent selection at home I want to dive into.

I hear you, too many good beers out now.

@capthowdy1027..... Hopslam is usually released in January and is only around for a couple of months. Drink it fresh!!!

I'm going to go grab some here in just a few minutes :D

Grabbed up a variety case of Bells and just drank a Bitches Brew, that is some great stuff.

    Damn I love this shit.

So a couple people have said "drink it fresh", so does that mean it's not a good beer to age?

Anybody heard of this or use it? I just got an invite code this week...the legalities of shipping beer confuse me so I'm not really sure if I can or can't legally participate but it would be a good way to obtain beers I normally couldn't

EDIT: Well I figured out that they cannot ship to me, which is what I figured.
I thought of maybe trying to start a little club on here so we could ship each other brews not available in our areas. I don't know how often I could afford the expense of shipping and all but it would be fun once a month or every couple of months.

I was reading an article in BeerAdvocate saying that there is a law tabled in congress to start allowing USPS to ship alcohol, but still a lot of red tape behind it. However, the same article also said that UPS and FedEx do allow it, so maybe that's a better option....

If you like a Chocolaty Stout, I highly recommend Jester King's Black Metal.... pretty alcoholic at 10.5 abv, but a very tastey chocolate stout for sure... best I've had in a long time...

Last night's consumption consisted of a 22 oz bomber of Clown Shoes Belgan IPA called Tramp Stamp, followed by a few Windmere Bros winter warmers, called simply Brrrrr!

both were pretty good, the Brrrr! I would highly recommend trying if you have access... very hoppy for a warmer, if you're a hop head you'll like it....
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

Hoppy beers such as Hopslam have a tendency to lose a lot of their original flavors very quickly. While I still think it's a good beer with some age on it, it's truly at its best within 3 weeks of bottling. The citrus notes really fade quickly after a month or so. I wouldn't sweat it too much. It will still be enjoyable, but most likely it will have a much stronger malt profile if that bottle is from last year.

Had a bourbon aged Brrr a couple of weeks ago, pretty good stuff. Widmer Bros. Hef is my beer of choice.

only drawback for me is that 90% of the beers are impossible to find in Salt Lake except for at one bar. I need to make a road trip back down to Vegas

    Is it that good?

I subscribed to BeerAdvocate mag just before Christmas.. it's a pretty interesting read...

Don't know if I have time for 2 magazines though - still haven't finished the Jan issue of BA and my Feb issue turned up yesterday... A Clash of Kings has been taking up all my reading time lately... :D
