Enjoying my last DFH Punkin Ale tonight. Damn I love this beer.
I went on vacation last weekend down to Hilton Head, South Carolina and of course tried to only drink local beers and I found this Westbrook IPA at the place we were eating and damn it was good. I ended up bringing a growler full of it.

Up in Vermont drinking long trail. There are a bunch of breweries I have never heard of that I'll have to try
If you are in Vermont and have the time, make a trip to the Hill farmstead brewery. It is tiny and in the middle of nowhere, but of all the beer i had in Vermont last summer when i was there the stuff from the Hill Farmstead was easily the best.
I picked up 2 4packs of DFH Immort Ale and 2 singles of World Wide Stout. There were 2 more 4packs of Immort but it's $16/4pack so I held off. I can't wait to try it.
Alright, alright, alright!

damn nice find...
been trying to track down both those beers for a while now without any luck... I'm starting to think that their label isn't approved for sale in the state of texas.
Over the weekend I finished off the last of my New Belgium Snow Day... anyone else tried that? I read a lot of negative reviews on BA, but I love it...
Also drank a bottle of Jester King Black Metal.... it was awesome! so much better than the witchmaker IPA... The black metal was a little over carbonated for a stout, but the roasty chocolate notes were so awesome I might be going back for me
(P.S. I guess I'm late to the party in this thread, but not that I've found it I'll be here for good! )
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.
That's a great movie. I watched it on Netflix a while back and that's pretty much what got me into wanting to try out these other companies. At that point I was still under the belief that Budweiser was the best beer out there

Yeah, I thought it was pretty good and interesting. Those big companies blow. And I believe Inbev threatened to pull their advertising from Discovery Channel if they didn't pull that Dogfish Head show they had on for a few months. Terrible.
Check out "How Beer Saved The World". It's on Netflix. It's great, a huge stretch, but great.
Been checking out some limited releases lately. Here in Oregon we now have some beer specialty stores. So much fun purusing the shevles for something new to try.
Here's some of what I've tried lately:
Hellshire Imperial Stout Age in Bourbon Barrels 10.5%
Widmer Bros. Barrel Aged Brrrbon '11 9.4%
Widmer Bros. Galaxy Hopped Barleywine Ale 9.5%
Widmer Bros. Nelson Imperial IPA
Ninkasi Critcal Hit Barleywine 11.7%
Dogfish Head Hellhound, 90min IPA, Immort Ale, Midas Touch, My Antonia
Fullsail Sanctuary 7% (also got a case of Fullsail Session low alcohol with lots of flavor)
Crooked Line Detour Double IPA 9.5%
Yeah, I thought it was pretty good and interesting. Those big companies blow. And I believe Inbev threatened to pull their advertising from Discovery Channel if they didn't pull that Dogfish Head show they had on for a few months. Terrible.

yeah the big boys are despicable. I wouldn't doubt one bit about the Brewmasters show being cut short because of that.
I did catch part of that show once and just recently missed an airing it...i do need to watch it. My dad saw it and loved it
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

I'm pretty sure that is true about InBev and Brew Masters. What an f'n shame. Discovery never even aired the 6th episode. Although they did air episode 5 again a couple nights ago at like 3am, which is the first time they've aired the show at all in months.

True beer snobs are like music hipsters...as soon as one person has heard of the beer/band, it's overrated to them. They only love it if they're the only ones who have ever heard of/tried it.
WI '98, WI '99 (EV), WI '00, Chgo '00, MO '00, Champaign '03, Chgo '03, WI '03, IN '03, MI '04, Chgo '06:N1 & 2, WI '06, Chgo '07, Chgo '08 (EV:N1), Chgo '09:N1 & 2, Chgo '11 (EV:N1), WI '11:N1 & 2, Philly '12, Wrigley '13, Pitt '13, Buff '13, Detroit '14, MKE '14, Wrigley '16: N1 & N2, Seattle '18 N2, Wrigley '18: N1 & N2, Fenway '18 N1, STL '22, St Paul '23 N2, Chgo '23: N1 & N2
That is pretty awesome. It seems like the beer world is very similar to the music world. When something is really small you feel like it's your own, then it grows and gets bigger and then the band / company has "sold out" so now we shouldn't like them anymore. I personally love DFH and I'm fine with saying they are my favorite brewery. I love the beer, I loved the tv show, and I don't care if they "sold out".

Agreed on both accounts. Definitely true. I like Dogfish Head as well, like he said, there are beers they make that I like and there are beers I don't like. Everyone here seems to love Immort. I am not a huge fan. That's just how beer works.
Sam Adams is over rated....as is goose island...although i'm not sure it's counts since it sold out to a st louis brewer
Of course Sam Adams is, but I don't really think they can be considered in the same class as them. I get the 6 million barrell thing but they are at a whole different level than everyone else. I have only really had Goose Island IPA, have it often at Yankee Stadium, the best beer the rooftop deck bar by my section has, and I like it.
Excellent post by Sam. I really like a lot of their beers. I hope they keep up the good work.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

I really like it. I'm a big fan of most Lagunitas brews.

I loved what Sam had to say.
I'm looking forward to a new treat this weekend...my store (the one 45 minutes away as some of you might recall) is supposed to have growler fills of Lazy Magnolia's Jefferson County Stout brewed with sweet potatoes. It may suck but it'll damn sure be different.
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

I have had their rebelion pale and the southern pecan brown and been mildy disapointed in both. The Reb pale was not bad to my taste but i've had other varieties of the same style i would go to long before this.
The Pecan was disapointing it was fruity to me not what i was expecting.
I have seen the stout but have shied away based on my first two. Let me know if you like it and don't let my expeirence with the other two be an indicator. Our taste buds are all different

The last DFH occassional I've found in the state of Texas was the Panagea... unfortunately a lot of Sam's occassionals don't get approved for sale by the state's liquor board after the whole 120 IPA incident... that being said I do very much enjoy the Midas Touch, and the 90 minute when the stores aren't sold out...
anyway, the Panagea was great.. I had one bottle and went back and scooped up 2 more, one to age and one to enjoy in the near future...
other than that I've seen the Namaste at one of my local spots; however, based on the discription I didn't pick it up, as I don't think it would suit my tastes...
I was really hoping that the latest batch of immort and WWS would make it to Texas, but I haven't seen it anywhere yet.... unfortunately...
