    Damn I love this shit.

So a couple people have said "drink it fresh", so does that mean it's not a good beer to age?
Hoppy beers such as Hopslam have a tendency to lose a lot of their original flavors very quickly. While I still think it's a good beer with some age on it, it's truly at its best within 3 weeks of bottling. The citrus notes really fade quickly after a month or so. I wouldn't sweat it too much. It will still be enjoyable, but most likely it will have a much stronger malt profile if that bottle is from last year.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

Last night's consumption consisted of a 22 oz bomber of Clown Shoes Belgan IPA called Tramp Stamp, followed by a few Windmere Bros winter warmers, called simply Brrrrr!

both were pretty good, the Brrrr! I would highly recommend trying if you have access... very hoppy for a warmer, if you're a hop head you'll like it....
Had a bourbon aged Brrr a couple of weeks ago, pretty good stuff. Widmer Bros. Hef is my beer of choice.

    Is it that good?

I subscribed to BeerAdvocate mag just before Christmas.. it's a pretty interesting read...

Don't know if I have time for 2 magazines though - still haven't finished the Jan issue of BA and my Feb issue turned up yesterday... A Clash of Kings has been taking up all my reading time lately... :D

maybe you could find DRAFT at barnes and noble or whatever and compare the two. DRAFT does a lot of beer related food and travel, too.

I brew my own beer, it's pretty much the only beer I drink now. That's about as "craft beer" as you can get.

Me and my boy have been fooling around with a kit for while and are preparing to take the next step to making it more of our own brew shortly....even with the kit its fun but still it kind of feels too easy not really personal. I look forward to mixing up some hopefully great stuff. We shall see...

Oh and we had a bottle of the Rogue Voodoo Doughnut last nght...it is definitely something to try so you can say you've had bacon beer. Strong maple flavor in the beginning but a definite bacon flavor on the back end. Not bad but not something i would be interested in sitting and drinking a whole bottle of by myself

I've got a bottle I've been sitting on for a few months. I'm taking a break from alcohol right now (trying to get in shape). I'll get around to drinking it eventually. I was excited when I saw it, but after reading the reviews my expectations have been greatly lowered.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

  • I've mentioned here before how we get a very limited selection in Mizzip due to the 5.9% ABV limit and I've been browsing around the net a lot lately on beer related topics/laws/etc and I've become somewhat confused. The state's department of revenue site plainly says alcohol may not be shipped directly to individuals in the state, however, I've seen several online beer/wine stores, several of which say they cannot ship here and several of which say they can. Possibly someone with a bit more knowledge on such things could enlighten me?

It's technically illegal to ship alcohol to an individual in the US. From what I've heard, FedEx asks the least amount of questions. Many people claim they are shipping "yeast samples" if FedEx asks. I would definitely say to avoid USPS. It's basically up to the shipper to decide if they want to take on the risk of shipping alcohol across state lines. I don't think anyone is prosecuting, but some businesses go strictly by the letter of the law.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

  • Right, it's a definite no-no to ship USPS. It's just confusing to me that the online stores list the states they are capable of shipping to. It doesn't give the impression that they pick and choose which ones they will and won't ship to but rather that they are legally sound in doing so. Oh well...shipping is expensive but I'll be getting some tasties I otherwise would not be able to sample :D

Is that how you got the Rogue? I'm in Oregon and haven't seen that one. I like to collect their bottles with the painted on labels.

    Last few nights:
Southern Oregon Brewing(SOB) Nice Rack IPA
    Caldera Brewing Co. Hopportunity Knocks
Gilgamesh Brewing Lager(this is a beer the non-craft brewing fans would love)

Tonight Eugene City Brewing Triple Jump IPA

Wow! A growler store...does this mean you can go in with a jug and leave with a different draft to drink that night? We have nothing like that in Alberta (Canada sucks sometimes!) There is on brewpub in Banff that will fill up a growler, and I know of some places in Vancouver that fill growlers with their own brews, but I don't even know if it would be legal to do such a set up here. If it was I think I would quit my current line of work and run a Growler Store.
