Cliff Lee will pitch today for the Phillies. I still like him but I need to shake the image of the Cardinals 7 & 8 hole hitters getting back to back hits in back to back innings. :x

    Please come back Chase.

It was a combination of bad luck on balls in play, mediocre defense, and a strike zone that was altered after Tony LaRussa bitched on national TV (and the endless whining by Pujols  ). He actually pitched very well that day. I know my view is not very common, but all the sabrmetric people ought to appreciate it.

Lee couldn't get anything called a strike after that.

That's when we need OUR manager to do some bitching, instead of just sit there and chew gum with a dumb look on his face.

Yep. Just want to counterpoint with everyone who wants to blame Cliff Lee for losing the series.

I don't blame him, but a 4 run lead is a 4 run lead. That said, I still agree with what you said.

Yes, it was very frustrating and it sure is easy for lazy sports fans (I can think of one...) to just blame one guy for the loss. Glad we are in agreement.

Cliff didn't lose the series but he had the chance to win it. They could have added to their lead but didn't. Sooner or later he's going to have to step up in a big spot in the playoffs. He's had a rough go of it lately.

I saw a report that Cole is looking at Lee/Santana money or he's walking. The new Dodgers owners will be looming.

When you look at it objectively, that's the kind of contract he is definitely gonna get on the open market if they let it go there.

    they won't.

They will be the first team in the history of baseball with three $20 million pitchers.

Will be interesting to see how they handle it. That would put them at about $116 million for 6 players not including Blantons $11 mil or Pence and Victorino.

Ahh, yeah, was looking at the wrong row at Cots. That was Rollins. Either way though. Edit: Yeah, I am an idiot. So if they signed Hamels for $23 mil on average, they'd be at $127 for 7 players

Just read about Philly fans booing one of their players and him leaving the field and going home around 1917. Pretty funny. He did sound like a bitch though

yeah and I think it somewhat backs up my argument that McCarthy and Sarge aren't really THAT bad.
