win your division and you're guaranteed 1 home playoff game this year. 1. makes a lot of sense:

    http://www.the700level.com/baseball-phi ... eedID=8972

For the 2012 Postseason only, the five-game Division Series will begin with two home games for lower seeds, followed by up to three home games for higher seeds. This one-year change will eliminate a travel day prior to a decisive Game Five of the Division Series and was necessary because the 2012 regular season schedule was announced before the agreement on the new Postseason was reached. Next year, the Division Series will return to the 2-2-1 format used in previous years.

Well that's dumb. I don't see how this new (and cool) 5-team playoff format should affect when the divisional series starts. Just push the playoffs back a day or two to make room for these one game playoffs between the wildcards.

Actually, I have to read up on this new format cause I'm not sure how it all works. Like, what if 3 teams tie for the final two wildcard spots? what's the tiebreaker? Or say for example the Phillies, Braves, and Dodgers all finish with the same record and Dodgers are 2nd in their division and the Cardinals finish with a better record but are still only 2nd in their division.. Do the Phils and Braves play a agme to determine a division champion and then the loser plays Dodgers to determine the 2nd wildcard...and THEN the winner of that plays the Cardinals in the play-in game?

Also, Sharla puts that bimbo you posted to shame...

Yeah, this I'm not in favor of - I see why they're doing it, but they should've just waited another year.
  • Seems like the worst spot in this for division winner is the 2 seed. #1 seed does have to go on the road, but at least against a team who probably just used their best pitcher. #3 seed could easily take a 2-0 lead if they get there pitching match ups lined up right.

But maybe seeds don't matter at all, based on last year

playoffs are a little f'd up this year, but Selig is in charge so it's expected. I'm much more concerned about the Phils learning to hit.

Now that all Phils games are on WIP hopefully some genius figures out how to sync up either the AM or FM broadcast specifically for TV.

If they do it will be with Comcast, and us Fios folks will get no help.

Ugh...I actually like Sarge because he brings a high degree of unintentional comedy. the other two are horrendous

gotta love working from home and just realizing the game is on TV (except for the voice of tits mcgee).

I could care less when he comes back. Just hope he gets back early enough to get hurt before playoffs so he doesn't kill them for a 4th straight playoff season.

Luckily amaro signed a guy who can't play the field to fill in until black jared is ready

god he got fat. $125 mill will buy you a lot of mcdonalds

gone for a while but still clueless

hit the craft beer fest at the navy yard on saturday. my daughter was with the in-laws so I ended up going a little overboard and drinking for 16 hours (training for new orleans trip in 2 weeks...some of you may have received drunken texts from me, the details are blurry). anyway, the beer festival was pretty awesome. well run and I got to try some good beers. we got our tix late, so the only option was spending some extra money on the VIP tickets, which got us entry an hour before general admission...there were also some specific beers that were only available during the VIP session. ended up being well worth the money...was sweet to have the extra hour before the place filled up.

hopefully that becomes an annual thing for us...had a great time. Highly recommended

so you think the phils are better off at 1st base with Lance Nix and Ty Wiggingon like you did with Rosss Gload? just checking on that. i'm sure you won't answer though.

Glad to hear the beer festival was fun. The Real Ale Festival is at Yards on 3/25 - that's a real good time. Maybe I can figure out a way to get there...

Anyone else going to Black Keys on Saturday?

Wife and I are going to Koo Zee Doo this month - anyone been?

(can you tell I don't feel like reading the same stupid arguments yet again?)

Dykstra's going to jail for three years

    http://www.csnphilly.com/blog/phillies- ... 378438-711

Sad. He was my favorite player when I was a kid. I was always rocking my Dykstra jersey. I once caught a foul ball of his and weeks later got it signed by Micky Morandini. I still have it.

ok no one would read this is i posted in the brewer thread. so through a series of events i've become twitter friends with Front Row Amy (if you don't know who she is just type in front row amy and deadspin into google), and she owns a single seat in the front row behind homeplate. she just tweeted that she plans on selling tix for a dozen dates she can't make and one of those dates happens to be the very day that I plan on making my yearly trek to MKE. The ticket is relatively cheap at $125. Now here's the rub.

I'm going out for a back to back academic conference weekend with 3 other friends. The first is at U of I - Urbana/Champaign and we would leave for MKE at its conclusion in order to watch the Sunday game. Immediately following the game we have a flight to Seattle and a week at UW. One of my friend's is a Dodger fan but gets caught up in Crew-power just b/c he knows it would make me happy that they win, and the other like baseball but not the Brewers. Is it a horrible idea for me to purchase this ticket and leave them to the wonders of Miller Park all by their lonesome?

okay to answer your question, i'd say yeah, it's a bad idea. why would you want to sit by yourself even if it's in an awesome seat? part of the fun of going to a game with your buddies is to, you know, throw back some beers and hang out.

i'd just hop on stub hub and find 3 great seats together. if you're willing to pay $125 for that one seat, i'm 100% sure you can find 3 seats together near that area for the same amount or less....especially in milwaukee. bark twice. is this wilt chamberlain?

so many conflicting opinions on this...i see the good points in both. as for FRA she's good looking I suppose, but the really awesome thing is her seat is literally right behind home plate she gets to talk to players, see and hear shit from the dugout, all the stuff that would be awesome to see one time in my life at the MLB level. if Yovani were pitching I'd say eff my friends I just want to watch that, but there's no guarantee.
