Yeah, like I said, the #2 spot would be just fine with me. That way at least we get home field in the 5 game series, which is friggin SSSHUUUGE. And who knows, maybe St. Louis bumps off LA(who is 5-2 in the season series against the Dodgers) and we end up with the home field again like last year.

The 2 seed is huge but it won't be decided until the end of the season so I don't think there will be much time if any to rest the starters.

Yeah, I could see skipping a a spot in the rotation maybe once to work it out so Cole starts game 1 fully rested(and that's who will start game 1). Other than that, I think Feliz may get some time off to get Dobbs some AB's, Shane sits down maybe once to rest his knee, and Raul a couple times to get Ben some AB's. Other than that, I think everyone plays it out. Most of these guys are everyday ironmen anyway so I don't see it being a problem leading to fatigue. They'll get their couple days off between the end of the season and the playoffs.

Yep, Hamels will start Game 1 and barring any rain outs, he's set to pitch Game 1 right now. Pitches tonight, the 22nd, 27th, 2nd and would be on regular rest Game 1 on the 7th.

I can see them rotating the OF to work Dobbs in and rest a guy here or there, but Rollins, Utley and Howard won't have any off days until their seed is set.

I do kind of wish I can see another lineup like last year's final game of the season though:

    1. Taguchi LF
    2. Bruntlett SS
    3. Iguchi 2B
    4. Jenkins RF
    5. Coste 1B
    6. Cervenak 3B
    7. Golson CF
    8. Marson C
    9. Kendrick P

and Les Walrond, whoever that is, got the win for the Phils in relief.

Blog on philly.com website states that Lee is set up to start game one of the NLDS and Cole will go in game 2....

Yeah, that's going by Murph's assumptions. I'm gonna stick to my guns that Cole pitches game 1. I can't see how he doesn't unless he falters soon - and he surely didn't do that last night.
  • it totally blows about Park.

I can't believe we're on our way again (fingers crossed). What a great couple of years it has been to be a Phillies fan, especically after all the lousy years we endured.

I'm reading the Remembering Harry Kalas book right now.

    I miss Harry

The problem is, I don't see any assumptions there. The way the rotation is set up right now Hamels would be on 3 days rest to pitch game 1 which would make no sense at all, especially after his two prior starts would be with 4 days rest. I agree that Cole will most likely start game one, but the Phils are going to have to do some shuffling for that to happen.

Not sure when the blogger wrote his prediction, but the Phils website has Hamels pitching on Tuesday and not Wednesday as part of the doubleheader on four days rest which would keep him in line for Game 1.

That was the only change I saw that the Phils could make (Muphy had Moyer making the DH start). Puts Cole on 4 days rest for the rest of the season though right??

Yep, though I can see him making like 50 pitch starts once they clinch to keep them fresh but on his regular day.

Yeah, it's gonna be a tough spot with only being 1 game up on St. Louis.

Well looks like Cole isn't set up to pitch game one of the NLDS after all with Blanton and Moyer going today.

That's pretty funny. Still though, huge man crush.

And I don't things change that Hamels pitches game 1. Pedro most likely won't start Friday and Cliff will pitch.

Ok that gives Lee 4 days off but then Blanton and Cole would be pitching on 3 days. I don't see that happening.

Just look at this way - the season ends on the 4th and the playoffs begin on the 7th. I'm pretty sure they'll space out the rotation to how they want it. And you'll most likely see Kendrick in there again to fix it accordingly.
