Yeah, I'm not a fan of owing Jamie Moyer anything. He's owed another 8 mil next year - that's what he's owed. I'd rather give Pedro, who can put it above 90 mph and spot his pitches, a chance while balancing out the rotation with one less lefty in the rotation. Four lefty's in the rotation is just way too many. You don't bring Pedro in to just put him in the bullpen. I'd at least give him a shot. 10 wins mean nothing to me when most of that is because he just got flat out more run production from his offense than anything else. Granted, he has thrown a couple gems this season but he's too much of a risk at times. Hopefully none of this matters come playoff time when we go to a 4 man rotation of Lee, Hamels, Blanton, and Happ. Again, not a big fan of 3 lefty's in a rotation, but when they're of a higher quality I will. If that's how the rotation plays out, then I see Moyer being left off the playoff roster.[/quote]

You are right about having 4 lefties - forgot that for a moment. It is a bit of an overkill. the problem with Moyer is he is not going to be effective in the bullpen and you have him on the books for 8 million next year - sad to say you probably have to keep him in the rotation. I never saw the value in signing Pedro even before we got Lee.

Pedro last pitched out of the bullpen in 1993 as a rookie.

Moyer last pitched out of the bullpen in 1996 with Boston before being traded to Seattle and getting his career reborn.

They're both really bad options of the bullpen.

In my opinion, the Phils should find some phantom injury for Moyer to go on the DL with and let Pedro get a few starts and go from there. Pedro k'd 11 last night in AA and minor league rehab starts aren't going to do him any more good.

Moyer has a 7.16 ERA at home and I can't see how you can keep throwing him out there.

I don't think Moyer is the type of guy to cop to a phantom injury.... I could see and it was suggested in the DN today, that they go to a 6 man rotation with guys pitching on normal rest (Lee, Blanton, Happ, maybe Cole) and the others (Pedro and Moyer) pitching on 5 days rest... basically spot starting Pedro and Moyer the rest of the season especially with a few doubleheaders and only 5 off days (only 2 in Sept). Is it the best solution or even a permanent one?? No but it will allow both Moyer and Pedro to pitch... if Pedro struggles, off to the pen.. if Moyer struggles, on to the DL.... I don't think it would hurt to give it a shot.

Rube quoted today: "Happ's not going out of anywhere" and called last night's performance "maybe one of the best games we've pitched this year."

Exactly. Pedro deserves at least a shot at this thing because even though he can only go as many innings as Moyer, he sustains higher velocity and is just as savy as Jamie when it comes to pitch placement and change in speeds. I really don't think Moyer makes the playoff roster.

Yeah, Franzke and LA are way better. Though Sarge is good for snippets such as, "Well, ya see what he's doing here. He needs to jerk OFF the ball." Priceless.

Seriously, these fuckers need to WAKE UP.

That's it. I'm officially done with Lidge. Forget everything he did last year. He's done a total 180. Unbelievable. I had completely no confidence in him once he WALKED - FUCKING WALKED - FuckYouDoMe. The ump was no help either. Anyway this game shakes out, I'm sorry, but I'm off the Lidge bandwagon. This is just ridiculous - he looks like a big wet pussy out there. I still stand by the fact that the championship pile-up on top of him screwed up his knee.

Wow, forget about last year? What I'd give for one fucking championship...and didn't the team just win this game, and are in the division lead..can't believe you're crying..wow....here is something to fucking cry over..

    Tonight's Met lineup:
    1. Cory Sullivan
    2. Luis Castillo
    3. Fernando Tatis
    4. Daniel Murphy
    5. Jeff Francoeur
    6. Jeremy Reed
    7. Alex Cora
    8. Brian Schneider
    9. Fatso

    and crack you up

Like I said, I know I'm being selfish for forgetting about last year, but I'm sorry, this is enough. He looks like a weedle bitch out on the mound - like he knows he's going to give up a run before it happens. He needs to go out there looking to eat someone's face. Oh, and crying is all relative - the point is to never trot out a team like the Binghamton Mets as you guys are doing quite well. 8-)

Oh, and just because they won last night doesn't mean dick. They won with 3 hits, and STILL leaving a shit load of baserunners in scoring position - as has been their MO over their 4-8 record since playing AZ. I have no confidence in the lineup right now, which is ridiculous to say. Oh, and Pedro will pitch against the Mets up there at the end of the month - should be interesting...

he has just totally lost it mentally. that throw to 1st looked like a guy scared to death. how can a guy be so good last year and so terrible one year later. I mean I have zero confidence he is ever going to save a game for this team. i think we still make the playoffs but you can't win in the playoffs if/when a closer blows games.

I get the frustration, but you guys are still the favorites in the NL. In any case, after last year everything should be gravy for at least a decade ;) ..as for the last sentence, what's so interesting about it? The way things have been going, Wright (last Met standing) will be out with a career ending injury and Pedro will pitch a no-hitter..no doubt..

So that's the makeup of Lidge then huh? Do very well, get destroyed and lose your confidence, get traded and show everyone up and be perfect, then turn to shit again, then get traded to do it all over again?? If that's the formula, then I guess we're screwed giving him that extension....

After the Pujols homer in the 2005 playoffs, Lidge blew 6 saves and had a 5.28 era in 2006. In 2007, he blew 8 saves out of 27 tries and got demoted and traded to Philly in the offseason,

Before the 2005 playoffs, he was "Lights Out".

it's depressing. i really like lidge and can't forget what he did last year...but my stomach turns every time he comes in now. i thought he looked scared to death last year too, though...haha.

by the way, the slide/belly flop on that triple by howard was awesome.

As a Cubs fan I have no problem with the beer shower. What I have a problem with is that it was on the wrong player. They should have thrown beer at Soriano or Bradley as those two guys are worthless. Congrats already on your sweep tomorrow. What a sorry excuse of MLB team.
