they've sold out every game but 5, Myers comes off the books at like $9 million after this year - the salary is not an issue (maybe only getting him 1 1/2 years is). I understand posturing and negotiating to try and not give up Drabek and Happ but if push comes to shove the reality is we are not trading for a flat out stud because we don't want to give up our 3rd/4th starter and 2 minor leaguers, one with a surgery under his belt already. again makes absolutely no sense to me. Potential is just a word that means you haven't done squat yet.0

It's done. Lee's a Phillie. Start packing your bags for October.
I still have a feeling there's another deal in the works since there's another 48 hours, and they need either another reliever or right handed bat. I'm thinking Josh "I hit 2 Grand Slams in the same game" Willingham.0 -

Maybe another reliever, but they got a righty bat in the Lee deal in Ben Francisco.- Busted down the pretext

Yeah, don't know much about him. Looking at his stats...seems decent. Can he fill in the field at times? Have any speed? I guess it's better than wasting Mayberry on the bench.0 -

Don't much about him, but I know he plays all three OF positions so he can fill in whenever anyone needs a rest. And had a decent rookie year with 32 doubles and 15 homers last year.- Busted down the pretext

The more I think about this, the more I think this is a great fucking trade.0 -
Doesn't seem like a bad trade to me... and if the Phils make a nice run in the playoffs and pitching isn't the main reason for their ouster than most will probably agree. This is a great deal if Halladay stays put in TO after all of this back and forth bullshit. This is your notice that there is a problem with your signature. Please remove it.

Yeah, as of now I think this is a great trade and if Doc doesn't go anywhere I'll feel even more ecstatic.0 -
looks like Phils are trying to add Washburn from Seattle to fill out the bullpen... if these are the two moves they make, I as a Phils fan, am very happy. This is your notice that there is a problem with your signature. Please remove it.

Washburn, as in the starter Jarrod? I don't know about that. He's been too good to be a reliever.0 -
Awesome trade u get a stud pitcher and don't give up drabek brown taylor or happ ruben just pulled off a steal in a half.I know we have 4 lefties now but when 2 of them are aces not above average pitchers but aces I can deal with it.Go Birds!!!!0

ur right... misread a story about the Lee deal which said talks were still fluid and the Phils were looking at Washburn with the Dodgers making a big push for Lee.This is your notice that there is a problem with your signature. Please remove it.

Tom McCarthy is the biggest dork on the planet!
Did anyone else read Ruiz's lips at the plate last night? I'm pretty sure he said, "shut the f#%k up Tom"being so KiND.. tO LEt me RiDe!!!0 -
got to leave Happ in the rotation. Can't have both Moyer and Martinez who can't get you more than 5 innings and Happ has been pretty solid. Put Martinez in the bullpen.0

Hopefully. It seriously has gone from the best broadcast in the business to the absolute worst. I don't wanna listen to Fat Man Tits McCarthy for 9 innings, and that pedophile for 6. At least Sarge knows how to shut up. Hopefully Franzke and LA will get promoted to the television booth once this season's over. Oh, and anyone who defends either McCarthy or Wheels is a moron. They don't know how or when to shut the fuck up, and they talk down to their viewers as if they know nothing of baseball. God, I miss Harry.
And, yes, there's no way you move Happ from the rotation. You see what Pedro's got, and then assess between Moyer and Martinez. If Pedro outperforms Moyer, then I say you cut your losses and release the guy(Moyer). And, if Moyer does better in a starter role then you move Pedro to the 'pen. Either way, you have to keep Pedro on the roster since he brings more to the table than Jamie.0 -

Moyer does have 10 wins. I think the deserves to right to continue to be our 5th starter. We owe Pedro nothing and I have little hope he will be very good. Put Pedro in the bullpen as insurance in case a starter goes down. I don't think we should be changing our team around for a 5 inning pitcher.0 -

Yeah, I'm not a fan of owing Jamie Moyer anything. He's owed another 8 mil next year - that's what he's owed. I'd rather give Pedro, who can put it above 90 mph and spot his pitches, a chance while balancing out the rotation with one less lefty in the rotation. Four lefty's in the rotation is just way too many. You don't bring Pedro in to just put him in the bullpen. I'd at least give him a shot. 10 wins mean nothing to me when most of that is because he just got flat out more run production from his offense than anything else. Granted, he has thrown a couple gems this season but he's too much of a risk at times. Hopefully none of this matters come playoff time when we go to a 4 man rotation of Lee, Hamels, Blanton, and Happ. Again, not a big fan of 3 lefty's in a rotation, but when they're of a higher quality I will. If that's how the rotation plays out, then I see Moyer being left off the playoff roster.0
