Myers most likely done for the year ?

I don't think we can have Blanton as the number 2 starter

We need to make a trade for a pitcher

The problem is everyone knows the the Phils need pitching right now and will hold the Phils over a barrel in return.

It's kind of scary that it's just about June and after Hamels you have

    Blanton with a 6.14 ERA
    Moyer with a 7.42 ERA
Happ who is unproven with 6 career starts in the majors
and ???? at number 5 right now

    Oh I know

    It's ugly

They were talking about bringing up Kendrick ! I can see Chan Ho back in the rotation also

Don't think it will be Park.. Charlie doesn't want him back in the rotation... so looks like Kendrick or Carpenter and then someone moves down to the minors when Romero returns next week.

Other than reading it Buster Olney's column today, no. Though I know the Sox are openly shopping Penny because they have too many starters and a couple of the teams rumored to be going after him are the Phils and Mets. I hadn't heard of any specific details though. The two needs the Red Sox have are SS and a catcher of the future.

How's he (penny) looked this year ?

I heard 2 bad outings have really ballooned his ERA ?

He's not someone I'd feel comfortable with right now as a number 2 starter, but could be a 3 or a 4 on just about any team. His last two starts he's looked a lot better and his movement has come back on pitches. Against the Twins he had 7 K's and no walks earlier this week and was cruisng until a couple of bloop hits. He's had two bad starts gave up 8 ER in 3 IP and 7 runs (4 ER) in 6. His era would be around 4.50 without those in the AL. So that should translate to a little bit lower in the NL.

He has 5 quality starts out of 9 and he has kept the Sox in every game he's pitched. (Sox are 6-3 in his starts and won the game he gave up 8 runs in.)

I know he's facing Peavy tonight, but I have to say I'm excited for the start of the Bastardo era in Philly.

I hope he makes it big because it would be fun going down to the ballpark one day in the future and seeing the stands full of Bastardo jerseys.

Bastardo certainly looked good last night, you can tell he was amped up. His fastball was 3 or 4mph higher than it was in AAA. Although, I'm not sure why the Padres put Peavy out there last night if he is coming off a leg injury and has an upper respiratory infection. Glad we were able to take advantage.

Ibanez is an absolute beast. No other way to describe it. I hope he gets the starting position on the All-Star team that he deserves.

JC is back tonight!!! Goodbye Trashner!!

Hopefully Bastardo is the real deal, however, I don't like having 4 lefties in our rotation. Still think we need to make a move.

I believe that the Phils ran a trip to Petco Park for this series with hotel, airfare, and tickets all included plus some lunch or dinner opportunities. So the large amount of Phils fans in attendance hasn't been a surprise to me... especially as WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!!
