    of course that is why.

incidentally i think it is something like 24-13 or so. we've played close to .650 baseball for a prolonged period of time without utley and are 9-3 without the r6 for a couple weeks or so.

and, we're leading the wild card right now.

this team never ceases to amaze me. let's keep it going.

    GO PHILS.

I'm not going for the bait. The howard debate is old. everyone here knows where I stand. I said they wouldn't miss him and they haven't.

now hopefully they can get some of these high school guys signed. come on scott frazier...you don't want to go to school at pepperdine. clearwater is much nicer than malibu

what bait? we've played close to .650 ball without utley for a month and a half and have won 9 games in two weeks without howard. no bait. just facts.

doesn't seem like anyone else cares about the draft picks, but the phils have signed 20th rounder Kevin Walter, RHP to an overslot deal. This is good shit. hopefully frazier signs before the deadline

I care. It's just a lot to keep track of. Thanks for taking care of that for me. :D

Is this the last year that teams can sign players to overslot deals???

there is speculation that the slotting system will be hard slotted in the next bargaining agreement. not sure when that would go into effect.

phils not expected to sign frazier. he wants a million bucks and they're not willing to go that high. they gave all their money to howard.

braves just erased a 2 run deficit in the 9th and walked off. mother fucker

nice summary of the phils draft here. next year's draft is supposed to be loaded and the phils are in good shape. Assuming they don't sign any big name free agents (a reasonable assumption since they already have a ton of money committed for 2011), they will have all of their top picks, as well as a supplemental pick or two for werth leaving.

How could the Dodgers do this to us? After all we've done for them these past couple years. :P

Looks like a fun game tonight - Oswalt, Utley, Burrell, Rowand - nice.

Sounds like Phils had a pretty good draft, but not spectacular. It's just so far away that we'll see these players.

I wonder if it's a curse to get the #1 pick, like the Nats. You've got $10-$15M tied up in players who might not pan out. Doesn't leave much room in the budget for later-round overslot picks.

By the way, what the hell are the Phils going to do with Rizzotti? Is this a case of having a guy with high value that you can't do anything with?

was watching "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" (just getting into this show now, hilarious) and was the episode talking about the 2008 World Series and Mac writes a letter (love letter) to Chase Utley. I think I am going to start calling The Fixer by his new nickname of "Mac". as they read in the letter in the episode I actually thought of The Fixer (disturbing I know) because obviously he has a serious man crush on Chase.

Dude, don't even get me started on my infatuation with Leroy Halladay. Friends of mine are starting to think I'm gay.

Nice game tonight. I love the way the Phils tend to pour it on in the 8th when they're rolling.

Also, no drunken idiots in our row tonight! Good times!

I honestly think the phils playoff chances are gonna come down to the 6 remaining games with the braves. the reds and cards schedules are weak as hell...barring a huge injury, they are both getting in.

the braves starting pitching is too good for them to collapse. they aren't going away

Understood. But there's no way I want it to come down to that. And they've been playing like .700 ball. There's no way they can keep that up, no matter how good their pitching is...

The Cards are still struggling against their weak schedule. Those Central teams are gonna show up and play them and try to beat them. We've been hearing about this weak schedule, and the Cards just keep slipping back.

I'm boycotting the top of the 1st inning tonight.

Is there any way we could tell the giants that we'll start the game in the 2nd inning with you up 1-0. I'd rather that then see blanton get schelled for 3 again
