The last Phillie to steal 2nd, 3rd and home in the same inning was Pete Rose in 1980.

moyer is not doing so hot. can they send a 46 year old down to the minors? what do they do in this situation if he doesn't improve?

I'm pretty sure xavier mcdaniel will correct me if I'm wrong with this, but they could designate him for assignment, but he would have to pass through waivers first. If no team claims him, he would have the option of accepting an assignment to AAA or becoming a free agent, but I think the Phils would be responsible for the rest of his contract for this year and next. The Phils could also put him on the DL with an "injury" till he figures out what is wrong.

Their best option in AAA is Kyle Kendrick. Carrasco their hot prospect is 0-4 in AAA with an era near 7. The other option would be to call up another reliever and put Happ in the rotation.

But I'm guessing they give him at least another 2 starts or so to figure out what is wrong. They really don't have a lot options right now.

Just about every fucking day, yes. The point being that the team will not choke it all away again due to the drastically revamped/improved bullpen, which was ultimately the main culprit of the colossal late season collapses..

I love how the Phillies still get no respect for winning 2 division titles in a row and a World Series. Blaming it all on the bullpen is too easy. Wright and Beltran are choking dogs as well. I recall one of the last games last year (I think it was the last friday night of the season) where the Mets had bases loaded no out in extra innings and Wright and Beltran choked and they lost in extra innings. Does this team have any leadership? stillnot sold on the Mets lineup.

I don't know about Beltran, but I think you're being harsh on Wright.

In 2007 in August and Spetember, Wright batted .372
Last year he batted .325 those same two months.

Now Reyes is the guy who has been killing the Mets in Sept. .205 in 2007 and .243 in 2008 with terrible on base percentages.

Right, but maybe the bullpen disaster day in and day out took a toll on the hitters in big spots. I don't want to make excuses for them, though I just did ;) , but come on, how would you react if you put up 6-8 runs each night only to see your bullpen blow it to pieces. It must have been tough on the hitters.

The fact is the Mets lost close to 30 games when leading after 7..the Phillies didn't lose any right? That's just insane..and damn right it's the main reason they barely squeezed by at the end..it wouldn't even have been close..30 games to none? wow..

Anyway, stop worrying about the Mets..you guys won your championship already..

I'm not worried about the Mets - this is a Phillies thread that a Mets fan came into to talk smack. The Mets will choke (or do they just stink?) as usual . You are allowed to score more runs after your bullpen chokes as well though. The only thing I am worried about is the Phils starting pitching. Phils get that straightened out and they win this division by 5 games.

Ok Phillies fans can you clear this up for me. I've only been to Citizen's Bank Park twice so I could be wrong about this BUT...one of my students is arguing that the fans going to a game at the Bank accurately reflects the demographics of the city. Is it true that roughly 55% of the attendees at a Phillies game are ethnic/racial minorities? I just don't believe that it is, but maybe I'm wrong.

I go to a lot of games there and even on Asian and Latino Culture night, the stands are at least 80-85% white and I'm being generous with those numbers. It's probably higher than that.

Where did i say you weren't welcome? You come here to talk smack then question why I am "concerned" about the Mets - all I did was reply to your comments about the Mets. Never did I say you weren't welcome or that i was concerned about the Mets.

My mistake. It's been weird around here since the forum change..as if people are more on edge and quickly get offended. Ultimately, these threads should be about talking smack throughout the season..

Calm down with this always business. It's been two years..one barely decent and one great year, with a little help from our inept Metropolitans..it'll be at least another 20 years before you guys celebrate anything remotely resembling a successful season ;) ..

Well, hopefully we can come away with at least 3 out of 4 in WSH. I'm not worried about this team, we're notorious late starters, and we're keeping pace with the rest of the division. Like everyone else, I am concerned about Moyer. At his age, obviously you have to wonder if he's lost it, and should hang it up. I think he certainly deserves at least a few more starts to see if he can right the ship, but its got be in the back of his mind and the organization's, that it may be time to hang it up.

Lidge is another concern, but we haven't really seen him in too many pressure situations this year to make a true assessment. He set the bar really high last year, and it'll be hard for him to repeat that.

And I can't wait, only 18 more games till JC gets back and we can get rid of Trashner.

I enjoy the banter as well because we always win when it counts !

    :P :)

Calm down with this always business. It's been two years..one barely decent and one great year, with a little help from our inept Metropolitans..it'll be at least another 20 years before you guys celebrate anything remotely resembling a successful season ;) ..

As long as the Mutts are in our divsion we will have success

Theres no way to say it will be another 20 years...I realize not winning since '86 makes you a little bitter
