Way to leave Howard on third with no outs, douche bags.

werth should be cut for his AB there. absolutely horrendous. cost them the game

game went to extras and they still only got 3 hits. that should have been enough to win, but werths' AB fucked them.

this weather is worse than AIDS. been home for 2 hours and was finally able to peel my undies off my ass

just so many bad at-bats all night. which outfielder is more disappointing this season? they all have sucked. ibanez being so bad has taken the light off of victorino's terrible season. would have been a huge win to. not to sound negative but Moyer is due to be lit up too. anyone have faith that Amaro will make a good trade? we need a bat 1st not a pitcher.

not getting howard home from third with no outs is a crime against humanity.

talk about a huge game tonight. the difference between 4 and 6 games is pretty damn big. gotta have this one....

And to think, according to MLBTR yesterday, Amaro's priority is starting pitching.

yeah he made the rounds yesterday saying just that. he also made it a point to say he would not be opposed to trading a starter this year too, something he didnt say last year.

yeah, I don't understand why victorino has gotten such a pass this season. He just got paid and he has been horrible. Ibanez is the easy target, but he's 38...victorino is supposed to be in his prime.

Phils need to win tonight, but I agree that moyer is due to get bombed...but I think he's gonna get bombed every time he pitches

I actually heard that interview on the radio while I was driving to the game yesterday. I don't believe a word these GMs say...it does them zero good to openly announce their intentions. they all have diarreah of the mouth, it's a waste of time to listen to them.

It was funny hearing amaro try to justify the Lee trade. Awful

I agree, talking about your intentions only makes you sound desperate and teams will ask for more. That said, I doubt any GM believes what he is saying that starting pitching is their priority. And if it actually is, he is a moron because 2 months of that lineup is pretty scary.

    horrendous.

    4. Cole Hamels threw well but once again got very little run support, as David Murphy writes.

The Phillies tied their game against Atlanta in the seventh inning on a Raul Ibanez walk and a Ryan Howard triple. And with no outs and a runner on third base, the Phillies couldn't take the lead and went on to lose in extra innings. Most Phillies fans realize that this is nothing new and the numbers prove that, entering Tuesday, the Phillies were awful in that critical situation. And opposing pitchers seem to know it, as they attack Philly's hitters -- who make it worse by chasing too many pitches outside the strike zone.

Consider the Phillies offense in 2010 with a runner on 3rd, and less than two outs (MLB rank in parentheses):

    Hits: 36 (22nd)
    BA: .267 (29th)
    Slug pct: .430 (26th)
    BABIP: .250 (30th)
    BB: 11 (28th)
    P/PA: 3.3 (28th)

he was actually more candid than he normally is though. he didn't come out and just say it was a good trade. i think he said something like "i'll let you know in 4 months." and he pretty much admitted that aumont and the other two have been slop thus far.

i have not been nearly as high on amaro as most people have since he took over, but i can't rip on him for what he was saying yesterday...

let's just hope he has pat gillick on speed dial for the next 3 and a half weeks...

high on amaro? who the hell is high on amaro? he's been a fucking train wreck since taking over for gillick

amaro said he preferred to add pitching to a position player. I'm just calling bullshit on that quote. everyone makes a big deal about what these guys say when most of the time they are feeding us lip service

maybe not you...but i'd say right since he took over most people have been really high on him. that has obviously changed since the cliff lee debacle. but i've been saying since day 1 he's been more ed wade than pat gillick.

Personally my favorite line might be

"Mike Missinalli said he was the preminient power hitter in the league and I called up and agreed with him. He agreed that I agreed with him"

Too many good lines to pick from though.

Been away a couple weeks - did anyone mention Kyle Drabek's no hitter? Awesome. Did Aumont throw one of those? How about a no-hit inning?

Gonna be an oven at the game tonight.

this is one of the best quotes of all time

For Atlanta outfielder Jeff Francoeur, the search for a more disciplined approach is elusive and the source of occasional torment. Francoeur began this season with loose goals of 80 strikeouts and 50 to 60 walks. But he's always been an aggressive player, and he's wary of becoming too passive in the quest for a higher OBP.

"If on-base percentage is so important, then why don't they put it up on the scoreboard?" Francoeur says.

Actually, in a game back in April, Aumont tossed 6 no hit innings before being pulled due to his pitch count.

    So there you go.

(all downhill from there, of course)
