whoever is attached to the cubs if they were to win a title would be a king forever in this city.
true. this might be destiny...ed is a big cubs fan, theo and ed are tight...ed sang someday we'll go all the way...maybe the cubs win it all in 2015?
forget ed
but at the same time...how nice would it be for the cubs players/fans/coaches etc to say...look...boston had an 80+ year curse....and they broke it....go talk to Theo about it if the pressure is getting to you...
so maybe his title won't be gm or president....perhaps it will be director of curse breaking.
I am sure a lot of it is shit that happens in every clubhouse and we are only hearing about it since they shit the bed. The conditioning stuff is unacceptable and it seems like they put a group of guys together that just don't liek each other.

but to tank a season over having to play a double header.... bunch of babies...
ok...i doubt this part is true...or at least hope it's not.
And for those that have only recently jumped on the bandwagon, this shit is far from new ... man, this story could have been written in the 80s or 90s ... all those stories of 25 guys, 25 cabs ... I feel nostalgic just reading this story.
I was dead on regarding Tito, no one was listening to him and he knew it ... it was just time for a change.
I'm glad this is public, gives these fuckers another reason to come back motivated next year.

I read that before I read the Deadspin version. The one thing that stands out to me is that I think it's pretty fucked up that the team (ownership I assume) is putting blame on Franconas marriage situation and claiming he has a drug problem.
I'm actually surprised to see Lester's name mentioned so extensively. I thought since he was one of the guys from the minor league system, he was more closely associated with Dustin Pedroia. Also the stuff about Wakefield surprised me.
None of the stuff about Lackey surprised me, but Nomar's appearance on ESPN brought up an interesting point that no matter what success you've had in Boston it tends to end poorly. Of course that also happened with the Yankees in the cases of Babe Ruth, Phil Rizzuto and Reggie Jackson to name a few examples.
"I think people are starting to recognize there's a pattern here. All of a sudden it becomes personal, especially with guys who have had so much success in that uniform," Garciaparra said on SportsCenter Wednesday.
"If we want to go down the list... now we're hearing about Terry Francona, before Terry ... it was Johnny Damon, before him you had Derek Lowe, you had Pedro Martinez, you had Manny Ramirez, you had myself, then you had Mo Vaughn, then you had Roger Clemens, then you had Jim Rice, Carl Yastrzemski, and oh, by the way, one Ted Williams.
"So the list is pretty good, pretty prestigious, but it seems to happen. So there's a pattern. Is it all these guys that are bad or is there something more here?"

Agreed on the Lester and Wakefield stuff. Although I guess the Wakefield stuff shouldn't since after the season he said something along the lines of that he deserves to come back because the fans deserve the right to see him break the all time Red Sox wins record. Um...
Thats pretty interesting stuff from Nomar. I guess the phrase "if it didn't end badly, it wouldn't end" is especially true with Boston.
Also, I know I am saying this after the fact, which I hate when reporters do, and I am saying it from watching baseball on my couch but I always got the sense that Ellsbury didn't get along with everyone on the team. Everyone has different personalities but he just looked a bit detached from everyone and rarely looks like he's having a great time. I could be completely off base and wrong though.
Edit: And I will say again, the drug problem allegations are completely out of line.
I have no idea what's being said on WEEI but the other sports talk station the Hub is doing quite a rip job on the Red Sox, especially with them bringing Francona's off the field stuff into the equation.

Just turned WEEI on. Was a good call, interested in what they are saying. Killing Nomar for his comments breifly, Pedroia is on right now.

Ok I left this for last....It's been a terrible, terrible September, October with the collapse and implosion of the RS tean and front office. That said this makes it easier to make difficult choices on players and organizational changes if they were needed. Now they are needed and a different direction is certainly needed...what that is I don't know.
I wish them well I will be attending Spring Training games in Fort Myers and in Jupiter Florida because of ALL the renewed interest in the soon to be restructured RED SOX team.
