    Ortiz better not test positive now, but it is nice to have that feeling that his power may be legit. Its just so hard these days because everyone is under suspicion. Good for him for stepping up though, I totally agree that a longer ban should be in place for positive tests.

    The two possibilities are ...

    a) Papi never did PEDs ... and he's pissed, and willing to put his neck on the line ... I love that!

    b) he's on that list of 104 players and this is going to really suck in a month ro so when the rest of the names are released.

    I'm betting heavily on "A" ... but, yeah, the way things are going, I won't be blindsided if "B" actually happens.

    A sidenote .... was up in Tahoe this weekend ... went to the sports book and was a little shocked the Sox were the favorite to win it all at 5-1.

    I know this thread won't really be active again until opening day but wanted to acknowledge the retirement of my favorite player growing up - Curt Schilling. I know a lot of people dislike him because of his mouth but he's greatest big game pitcher I ever saw and hopefully will be in the hall some day and I plan on going if he ever gets elected.     5. His almost no hitter in 2007 when he was pitching on guts and guile as his arm was shot against the A's.
    4. The 2001 World Series against the Yanks
    3. Striking out the first 5 Braves in Game 1 of the NLCS in 1993
    2. The Bloody Sock game
    1. Sitting 15 rows from first base with 5 college friends who were Yankee fans on Labor Day 1997 when Schilling shut down the defending champs and struck out 16. Schilling struck out Jeter 4 times that day and I think it's the only time that ever happened to Jeter.

    I don't mind his mouth. In this era of the cliche-spewing athlete and player fraternization, it was refreshing to hear Schilling (and I'm a Yankee fan). He's definitely a hall of famer in my book though it would have been nice if Cashman would have been able to get it done with Arizona in the offseason following the 2003 season instead of Kevin Brown and Javier Vazquez.

    Do you think Schill consulted jesus before retiring? I mean it was jesus and not a performance enhancing operation that helped him win those games in 2004 right? I mean for a guy that is all against performance enhancement may actually get to the HOF because of it. Still it was fun to watch him kill the yanks.
