so any predictions for tonite? i really haven't watched much elicit xc, so i don't know many of the fighters. The only 3 i really know are Jensen, Fickets, and shamrock.

i would have said villasenor (seriously...not just trying to say so afterward ;)), i'm really hoping cole knocks out kyle, but that's one i'm not liking on the main card.

also going with fickett. i hear good things about lim, but i think fickett will get him in a RNC. melendez should retain his title, but i think lemley will put up a game fight. it has the potential to be a fun match. gabe melendez is one of the best LW's in the world and is coming off his first loss to ishida. i suspect he'll be out to prove something.

the main event is really interesting! if frank is smart he'll TRY to get le down, but he says he wants to stand...so we'll see. his hands looked great against phil baroni, but le has so many weapons and options on the feet. he's an incredible striker. i'm 50/50 on that one...if it goes to the ground, shamrock for sure. if it stays on the feet, advantage to cung, but still a possibilty that frank could catch him.

    just my thoughts...:)
  • yeah! not what i expected at all! kyle was ready to tap even before cole had secured the leg over his head. quick tap from the armbar! nice.

well 2 for 2 mookie lol.... i'm happy about that quick armbar by cole over kyle. I just watched the WEC fight that they were talking about and man, kyle is a bastard, he got what he deserved tonite, hopefully he gets some more soon.

great 1st round for melendez, he looks in complete control. Lemley better find a way to counter the agressiveness of melendez or this fight will be over soon.

edit: very impressive win for melendez

    yep, pretty dirty fighter.

gabe was saved by the bell there! melendez is definitely a man on a mission. lemley kept wasting his time with the guillotine attempts and kept getting the leg over the head but wasn't setting in the triangle properly...the most of the rest, gilbert was just landing consistent damage from the guard. one more takedown for melendez and this one's probably over.

we are of the same opinion. :)
  • ...and there it is. now, i'm REALLY wishing josh thompson hadn't been injured. that would have been a great fight, especially the way gilbert looked tonight. relentless.

  • i forgot to say before that i have a feeling kimbo didn't win over any fans in san jose by referring to them as "san fran". :D still, the guy gets a big reaction from the crowds. he silenced them a bit tonight with that slip up though.

ya he really was relentless and looked like a damn good fighter. I really need to start watching other organizations, rather than just ufc and older pride fights. I've seen a couple good fights here tonite, and some good wec fights on youtube.

    ridiculous! terrible ruling.

...especially when you consider that mike kyle was allowed to fight.

that fight was all fickett... the reverse on the takedown was amazing and it really looked like he just out classed Lim

  • beautiful arm in guillotine! :) physically, it looked like drew may have taken the last week off, thinking he wasn't going to fight, and ate some cookies. not as in shape as he usually is, but certainly as sharp as ever. he made that look easy on a guy that shouldn't be that easy to submit.

again, i wish that had been the fight against jake sheilds! next time, i guess...

  • yeves vs. kj noons, you mean? i'm an yves fan, so i cannot wait for that one! he won his last fight in the last few seconds of the first round with a flying knee while his opponent had a single leg for a takedown. it was incredible!

very good first! i can't believe frank is standing with him, and believe it or not...if you haven't seen le before, that was a "conservative" round for him in terms of kicks and punches. :D
  • much like quadros described, second round kind of like a sparring session. still surprised it's all on the feet.

ya i saw that fight where yeves got that amazing finish, can't remember which ufc event that was, but i do remember going nuts when he did it.
I agree that 1st round was amazing, Le looks incredible and frank looks like he is happy to be there lol...
I think we'll see frank try to bring it to the ground somewhere in the 4th
