in the fight? i guess so!! what a comeback for nate. that was a great match! kurt seemingly dominant, then nate gets the triangle and it's over!

to submit kurt is very impressive. i am shocked, not so much that nate won, but that he was actually able to sumit kurt, especially after that first round and the way the second was going.

    huge win for nate!

Great fight! Definitely surprising end after the first round. 2 FANTASTIC fights to start the night!

Masterful use of the English language there! ;)

    he's from stockton, baby! what's up?! :D

i'm afraid if there's going to be a snoozer it will be hamill vs. boetsch if hamill's gameplan is to just take him down and hold him down. he's shown a willingness to stand, so we'll see. we'll also get to see what boetsch looks like on the ground, no doubt.

this feels like a PPV so far! nice.

"He knows some English, but he can not speak it good like we do." :)

edited for the correct Clerks quote... ;)

It does feel like a PPV! :D

By the way ... my roomie just made so much fun of me for:
    1) Wearing my Gray Maynard t-shirt
    2) Getting super excited when Nate sunk that triangle
    3) Drinking wine while watching mma

Boetsch seriously likes the uppercut and those knees. He rocked Hamill towards the end of the first. Hamill does look much more comfortable with the stand up game.

much improved with his stand up again. hamill won that one in the first couple of minutes, i think. took the gas out of boetsch and eventually wore him down. boetsch seemed to be landing the more damaging shots. i'm still impressed with his stand up style. it seems effective so far. he does like those knees and uppercuts! i would have liked to have seen him go to town on that low leg kick and go to the body when faking the uppercut. hamill was covering up his whole head and leaving his body exposed every time.

i don't want to jinx it, but three fairly quick matches....;):)

You are welcome any time Ceg! :) Then I wouldn't have to watch the fights alone. And I actually made dinner tonight so I could feed you as well as provide the libations.

  • not a bad first round. thiago showed good takedown defense after the initial takedown. i'd like to see him be more aggressive, but maybe he's pacing himself.
  • yes!!!!yes!!!!yes!!!!yes!!!!

that's what i wanted to see from thiago! :)

i think that might be the first time karo has ever been stopped in a fight!

He was talking about how he was a crappy coach and Rampage probably was too. When Rogan asked about the "bad blood" between Forrest and Rampage, Forrest said that Rampage said he was the kind of guy that when he wiped, didn't get everything. Then Forrest said Rampage was half right but wouldn't say which half. It made absolutely no sense. I think Rogan slipped Forrest some of his hallucinogens!!!
  • almost feel bad for tommy. that was a pretty one-sided affair. if not for the mistake and getting caught in the clementi fight, johnson would already be in the mix at the top of the division. with that athleticism, power and size...give him some experience...and that could be scary.

Gray's fight is next! I suppose it would be too much to ask for a gratuitous shot of Gray's lower back tattoo! ;)
  • oh man, this one should be exciting too! what a night of fights!

    it's gray!

Beautiful takedown defense by Gray! He almost landed a knee on Edgar just before that.

Edit: Gray needs to utilize some head and leg kicks! Yes, Gray gets the takedown!
  • as i suspected ;), gray proving to be the stronger wrestler of the two, more power on his feet, but frankie the more technical. good first. gray's round for sure.
