THE METS they need to put together a package of players along with alot of $ and bring SANTANA here that would be one step in the right direction.

Veterans don't always come up big. Look at Mo in 2001, WS Game 7. It happens
His timing was unfortunately atrocious. Maybe he was hurt and didn't want to say or something. Who knows.
idk but then they go to wright and wright has this most somber look on his face.thats the type of players i want, not guys who will smile.thats one thing you never EVER see a yankees player do is smile after a choke.i think willie let the clubhouse get outta hand, he needs go back to the old ways of playing hard and taking this game seriously and playing small ball
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?

  • well his last four starts were rather awful also. he's had a nice career but there's no way the mets can consider him their top starter next year if they do bring him back which i'd guess is unlikely now.

You know why Glavine should be done? His comments on the yesterdays game.

"I’m not devastated, I’m disappointed,” Glavine said. “This is not the way I wanted to pitch.” or

Nevertheless, Glavine suggested he made most of the pitches he wanted yesterday, that he was undermined by well-placed grounders.

I'm a big Glavine fan, as a player and person and really feel for him right now. I think he was smiling in more of a 'what are you gonna do' type mentality. Let's face it, this collapse is more bizarre than anything. What he was trying to say is that it is just only a game and that devastating is a word that should be used for more weighty situations in life. Tommy's been one of the more consistent starters the last few years, not to mention a leader (pitched well in last years playoffs), and a class act for this franchise even though his tenure hasn't gone as planned. And as someone said it was the entire team that put them in the one-game-or-die situation, in which as we saw, anything can happen.

What it comes down to is Milledge needs to be gone and we need to score Santana with whatever it takes, and if that's Beltran then so be it. For next year...

C Castro-I like him and let's face it, there's not many catchers on the market
1B ???- Delgado can't be back right? Anyone know his contract situation? Not sure our options here
2B ???-Castillo is injury-prone as we know, so I tihnk we need to go in another direction, Brian Roberts? Tad Iguchi? Too early
SS Reyes-what the fuck happened? Did his dog die or girlfriend breakup with him or what? Looked so depressed. I blame Rickey.
    3B Wright- God bless him.
LF Alou/Chavez- Alou has to be back, even if it's a platoon.
CF Beltran- I'd be ok if he had to go if it meant Santana/#1 starter was involved
RF Gomez/Chazez- We could go to a one-year fit here waiting for the young ones to mature (Gomez, Martinez, Abreu) though they may be a few years off

SPs: Pedro, Maine, Perez, Pelfrey, ??? (Glavine? Humber? #1 TBA- Santana, Oswalt, anyone)

RPs: I guess Wagner (ugh), Heilman, Feliciano, Smith-everyone else can go. Not always the case though.

  • Twins won't be interested in Beltran. makes too much $$$ for them. That's the only reason they might move Johan. They'll want back 2-3 guys who make the league minimum or thereabout and could help them now. Think Humber, Pelfrey and a bat. I'm not sure if they'd be interested in Milledge. Actually, their GM just resigned, so they probably don't even know who they want yet. Maybe Boston or Anaheim would make a deal for Beltran, but not too many teams shop in that section of the store.

As for Delgado, I'm pretty sure this was the 3rd year of the 4 year contract he signed with the marlins. I could see an AL team taking a shot making him their DH, but i wouldn't expect much, as his value plummeted this year. That said, I think he's got a few good years left.

If they bring back Alou, it has to be of the mind that he'll spend a lot of time on the DL, but he'll be very good when he does play. Think .325 20 HR's over 100 or so games. Not bad, but you can't count on 150 games from him. they have to have an understudy.

A few interesting tidbits from M & MD today.

Reyes went down the toilet, both personally (Attitude, etc...) and on the field (hustle, heads up) as soon as soon as Valentin went down. They said they're hearing rumblings that valentin was a father figure type, and kept him in line, and that castillo may actually be a bad influence on him.

Interesting. I hadn't heard this before but it certainly is something to ponder.

The Mets will look into trading beltran for a young starting pitcher

This is tough, because as we all know, Carlos under-produced offensively this year, but we know he is capable of better, and its possible it was just an off year. Also, the guy is a monster on defense and personally, even though I was very disappointed by his bat I was always impressed by his glove and I don't think I want to see him go (yet).

That's more or less how I feel about Glavine too. He really let us down yesterday, but in general he had a pretty tremendous season especially for a guy his age. I really feel terrible that that was probably his last game as a Met and possibly his last game ever. He doesn't deserve that. The guy is pure class.

  • Glavine is a piece of shit, Brave for life. He only gave a fuck two things, win #300 and his eventual entry into the hall of fame. Class? you know what's more impressive than class? how bout more than a third of a fucking first inning in the biggest game of the fucking year!!!!!

It was only the biggest game of the year because the majority of the team sucked for the last month. The guy pitched stellar multiple times this year only to have the bullpen/no run support equal a loss.

I don't give a fuck if the guy is a brave through and through. He's a great player and in my opinion added a great deal of class to the Mets.

I also think the only reason he came back after 06 is because Atlanta did not want him at all. He desperately wanted to go back there, and get # 300 there.

Find me a player who doesn't go go get best contract these days. There's a few exceptions here or there but overall that's generally the case. Had Tommy pitched a good game, it'd be a different story. Now, obviously, I realize he didn't, but to say he was bad for this franchise is ridiculous. We're nowhere these last few years without him, not to mention the charitable work he's done around NY and elsewhere. There's a reason he's up for man of the year (or some award for giving considerable amounts of money/time, forget which one) and respected by everyone in the clubhouse and organization.

Oh well, maybe this will give us a reason to get rid of schoenweiss. I think it might be time to try to get bobby v back, too.

Tommy may be in fact a great family man and person, but he killed us as a Brave, and killed us as a Met. He has an obvious disconnect with the New York fans, made even more evident with his dumb statements. It's more than just fucking disappointing you fucking asshole..For Glavine fans, it's sad that he'll always be remembered for this, above everything else..

AP - A seven year old boy was at the center of a New York City courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible.
The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the New York Mets, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

What? Due to injury he was out for quite a few games, and yet he still led the team in both RBI and HRs..I don't feel like looking it up, but it was somewhere around 33 and 111....I wasn't a huge Beltran fan, but this season he won me over. And he doesn't act like a fucking asshole when he hits a home run. He quietly returns back to the dugout and shuts the fuck up..

Of course, but i'd also take the Red Sox beating the fuck out of them again. Remember being up 3-0 and losing? We all knew the Mets wouldn't win it this year anyway. That year the Yanks choked on a bigger dick than the Mets did this year..

I'd love to see Colorado win it this year..What a fucking story that would be..

Why not root for the Phillies. The team that beat you 12 out of 18 times this year? If you would have beaten us 1 out of the last 8 times we played, you would be NL East Champs. Support the East. Support The Team To Beat.

In all seriousness, it should be a good series. I honestly think the Phils will win in 4. Hamels & Kendrick pitching for the Phils @ home will be tough for the Rockies hitters. Can't wait till 3pm tomorrow.
