it was actually funny because my friend i went with is one of these pessimistic met fans, so while keep insisting that the mets are going to win, i say wouldn't it something if john maine threw a no-hitter?
haha, i bet by the 8th he must of thought you were psychic.how was the crowd, they looked and sounded crazy.

they were fine, although the schmuck two rows behind me started a no-hitter chant just as that at-bat was taking place.

eh, what are you going to do, not everyone knows what to say and what not to say during those circumstances. i don't think he was drunk, but who knows, i can't control what other people say. for all i know he could have been mentally challenged and not know any better. that's that.

The way Reyes was getting booed, I don't think the crowd would have had a problem. Did you see SNY's poll, whether or not Reyes should be benched? It was 80% yes, and 20% no. That stuff just can't be tolerated. The first lesson of babseball, when you play tee ball is:You hit the ball, you run hard until someone either tells you it's foul or that you're out. I know hustling is not the in thing to do and won't get you on Sportscenter, but players can't get away with hitting a ball and just standing at home plate. especially when they've done it before.

Oh you were talking about that? I thought you were talking about how he was egging on Oliva. Oh yeah, you've got to run a ball out, for sure.

You said schmuck! LOL. that's the harshest word I've ever heard you say! I like it!

Don't people know you're not supposed to say 'no hitter' out loud at a ballgame? Geesh!!!

That was some ballgame. I saw most of the crucial parts and went out after it got broken up. That had to hurt, to get broken up with a little infield squibber. The standing ovation they gave him was classy.

At least it wasn't as bad as Moose losing his no hit bid with 2 outs and 2 strikes in the 9th at Fenway that time.

who calls you Metsfan Bri? People say Metsie! Or maybe that's just girls? Your name seems naked w/o the #'s, I don't like it.

I see what Lou was saying when I retired my 02. I may have to bring it back ;)

it makes it sound like you're just an 'average' metsfan when you're far and above average.

Making it even worse, Moose was a strike away from a perfect game, not just a no-hitter
  • Nice first inning touchdown by the Dolphins, errr, the Marlins. Mets get the extra point back, but forgot about the touchdown......

I was nervous the entire season. Even when we were comfortably in the lead, something just felt off with this shitty team. Thanks for another great year. 162 games for nothing..

I totally agree. I just want to change the FUCK YOU Delgado, to FUCK YOU Carlos' for all your wonderful combined K's.

To be perfectly honest, I kind of want to see Willie fired. More than anyone else I hold him responsible (Omar is close, but I don't think anyone really could/should have predicted this kind of finish). When the Mets were beginning to slump Willie did nothing to get the fire started. He did nothing. He is to big on fucking pitching matchups. Fuck him man.

And Jose... don't get me the fuck started on Jose...

Metsy, I hope you're willing to talk baseball before the spring, just so we can talk about (re)signings and shit. But I totally understand not wanting to talk baseball until after the post season. Fuck this.

i've been hearing that a lot of teams are pissed by some of the in your face style by players such as reyes. frankly i find a lot of the noise and having kevin james yelling let's go mets on the sound system is part of the artificial noise that seems to be excessive and in your face.

as for slogans - i still remember the one from 1992 - "Hardball is back"

i take whatever david wright says seriously, probably the most of any Met,

"He's a great manager," Wright said. "I'll go to war with Willie any day. He's not in here jumping up and down and hollering when we win and he's not throwing guys under the bus when we lose. It's not his fault. It's the 37, 38 guys in this room who didn't do their jobs."

Yea. Definitely would love to see the outfield be Gomez, Beltran, and Milledge. Although can't really say I don't love Moises Alou right now. The guy was a machine from the moment he came back and I have to seriously respect that.

Well, I'm glad he said that. That gives me more confidence in Willie. And to an extent I totally agree with David. It is the job of the guys on the field to play and win. But, the job of the manager in baseball, since there aren't plays to call in the same way there are in other sports, is to get the fire started. We had the talent, we didn't have the motivation. And that is Willie's job, and he failed.
