i don't remember exactly if it the details were mentioned. and yes she's from boston and used to a singer on broadway.
so what do Boston folks think about her working for the Yankees? Does she still root for the Sox too?

She has had an awfully interesting career. How did she go from Broadway to sportscasting?

if i was a boston fan, i'd be glad she wasn't one of my team's announcers. i have all the respect in the world for women announcers but she's terrible at the announcing part. she was decent when she was doing the reporting for WFAN and the clubhouse reports for the YES Network but being alongside Sterling is not a good combination.

I didn't like her on YES.

and I agree about her and Sterling. Terrible.

I like his "the Yankees win" call though.

Thanks to you I am now craving a hamburger at 3am btw : )

I haven't listened to a Mets broadcast on the radio. I used to watch when Timmy McCarver and Ralph Kiner did the games on Channel 9, way back in the day. And then I used to watch Kiner's Korner!!! Remember that?

    This is the end
    Beautiful friend
    This is the end
    My only friend, the end

Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
Ill never look into your eyes...again

Can you picture what will be
    So limitless and free
    Desperately in need...of some...strangers hand
    In a...desperate land

Lost in a roman...wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
    All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain, yeah

Theres danger on the edge of town
    Ride the kings highway, baby
Weird scenes inside the gold mine
    Ride the highway west, baby

Ride the snake, ride the snake
To the lake, the ancient lake, baby
The snake is long, seven miles
Ride the snake...hes old, and his skin is cold

    The west is the best
    The west is the best
Get here, and well do the rest

The blue bus is callin us
The blue bus is callin us
    Driver, where you taken us

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door...and he looked inside
Father, yes son, I want to kill you
    Mother...i want to...fuck you

Cmon baby, take a chance with us
Cmon baby, take a chance with us
Cmon baby, take a chance with us
And meet me at the back of the blue bus
    Doin a blue rock
    On a blue bus
    Doin a blue rock
    Cmon, yeah

Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill

    This is the end
    Beautiful friend
    This is the end
    My only friend, the end

It hurts to set you free
    But youll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die

    THIS IS THE END
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?

  • did you happen to notice on Thursday night, it really sounded like he said...Yankees Wim, thuuuuuh...Yankees win? I have it on Tivo, it really sounds like he says they "wim" the first time he says it.

maybe i have a different perspective because i cover the sport, but i've had the perspective that the results of a professional sports team are not life and death to me. sure i'd love to see the teams i follow win every game and win every year, but if it doesn't happen, life still goes on for me. i guess that allows me to enjoy it more as weird as it sounds.

oh STOP. Well at least you've sought Medical Attention, thank God. I hope you are just being melodramatic??
Besides tell them to t/f you to Stonybrook.

But for real, that's not even funny esp w/some of the things you've posted. I didn't get that upset when we lost to Boston in 2004. The biggest upset/choke in World Series history, I do believe?

    Plus Game 7 in 2001

plus losing to Detroit last year! DETROIT!!!

You'll be ok, it's not over yet. Hang in there.

it was the biggest collapse in playoff history. i was there in the stands and after the intial shock, i realized that i witnessed baseball history and while it was done at the expense of the yankees, it's still a significant thing in the history of the sport.

People have different levels of attachment to their teams, I guess? Or to any thing they are a fan of.

I have a hard time watching the playoff games.

I felt discombobulated after the loss last year, like things were just not right. Then I just try to put it out of my mind. But seeing those 'highlights' from 2004 still stings! Ouch. And Mo on the mound in 2001 in Arizona. Oh that's just terrible.

it is what it is, no team is going to win every year and even the great ones are going to fail from time to time. the thing that annoyed me about 2001 was what happened in the subsequent years in terms of how the team was built, which is something that only now have they kind of gotten away from. but that's for another time and and the yankees thread.

OH! Man. You saw it in person? Oh no. Wow. I can't even talk about it. Wait so which will be a bigger collapse then, that or this Mets slide?

I like the historical aspects of baseball games also but that one... oh man. Oh that was painful. Just painful.

But then when I was watching the WS I knew the Sox were going to take it. I thought it was neat they were finally going to win. It was surreal to watch though.
And it was nice to see all the joy of the people in New England.
You know, cause it only happened once in their lifetimes :p But it was nice.

I still want to get up to Fenway to see it for the historical aspects. My Dad's never been up there either.

I'm sure the Mets fans were thrilled.

  • Words cannot describe...

Some thoughts...people talking trash here really have no heart at all. This is just downright brutal for us. Stomach punches night in and out...You can play the whole 'spoiler'/'nothing to lose' card with the nats and fish, but the nats go out and lose to the phils handily. If this is fulfilled, it seriously could set the franchise back a few years. How can you expect players to come back from the winter with enthusiasm and excitement after that? The fans too. I mean last year was bad enough, but this would be a new level. Reyes just looks depressed, NEVER have we seen that. It's just that they forgot how to win a baseball game. Hang in there guys.
