Honestly, I wasn't surprised at all about tonight's events. The Mets have been scoring on average 8-10 runs each night, but the pitching failed to hold any of the leads. I would be dejected as a hitter too..their will is broken, and not even Pedro can save them now..
nothing can save them, maybe that one game playoff on monday will get them to wake up.willie has totally lost this time, should he be fired NO.its not his fault this team sucks, that all lays blame on omar.omar should of gotten a better bullpen and better pitchers

I agree, it's not all Willie's fault, but I still hate that guy for some reason..just something about his lazy fucking attitude..Too bad they can't fire Omar too..

i agree, i think its to time give the humbers and gomez's of the mets a shotl.id get rid of green, alou, the big whiff delgado, el duque, tommy and every other old guy, id also do a major overhaul to the bullpen.this team needs youth, guys who will be hungry to play.maybe start by getting brian roberts of the o's and go from there.fuck id even get rid of wags and make the closer from osu we drafted our closer for next season

But Willie won't play the young players, so we'd still be fucked..

To say Willie Randolph should be fired is moronic, or at least reactionary. This is the same guy that had this team break the Braves streak of 14 division titles in a row, was in Game 7 of last year's NLCS, and held sole possession of first place for 4 1/2 months this year. Willie's a winner and will continue to be with the Mets.

His boss, however, is going to have to get Willie some pieces that better complete the Mets' puzzle. The pitching has been suspect all season and Omar has got to act this winter. Hell, we talked about it last fall when we were looking ahead to '07. We all knew it was lurking and now it has reared its ugly head in the last six weeks of the year.

At least Pedro came back healthy. That's a relief, considering how scary it was when they guaranteed the fourth year of his contract three years ago.

I still think the Mets will win the division or force the Monday playoff. Who would host such a game, if it occurs?

Come on, Mets' fans. YA GOTTA BELIEVE. For one more weekend, anyway.

i agree on the willie factor, it's tough to win when you bullpen options are what they are.

and the phillies won the coin flip for that, so they host the game on monday if necessary.

If the Phils & Mets tie for the division, the Phils would host the playoff. That's the only playoff scenario where the Phillies would host, we would be on the road against any of the other 3 teams.

I don't think it's moronic. Yes, the pitching ultimately caused this collapse, but Willie has made some bone head fucking decisions along the way. How many games did Mota single handedly blow for the Mets? Everyone in the world knew not to put this fucker in and yet Willie did, time and time again. How many games did this ultimately cost the team? Maybe we would have won the division, maybe not. Of course we had a 7 game lead on the 12th and that should have been enough, but fuck. Not to mention starting Lawrence a few weeks ago in a huge game!! He is a fucking thick headed moron who wants to do things his way no matter what..Fuck him and his Mets..
