I should go camping on the weekend more often! I'm out of touch for three days and find out that my fave team turned it around while i was soaking up some rays at the beach.

Way to go, Mets! Sweeping Atlanta on the road was just what the team was in need of. Now I'm going to get my ass to a sports bar tomorrow for a late lunch and watch Pedro's first start.

Also, thanks goes to the Phillies for reminding us all that you're still very much a mortal team. The Mets' lead now stands at 4 games as of Sunday night--a nice improvement over the 2 game lead on Friday afternoon.

    Let's Go Mets!

Mets could've picked a better opponent (Harang) or a better ballpark (Cincy) to bring Pedro back. He had a rough first inning but got through it. 75 pitches or five innings, which ever comes first.

No matter. I'm just excited that he's made it all the way back and is looking to contribute to the Mets' stretch run.

    Let's Go Mets/Pedro!

  • I would like to say congrats to the Phillies for blowing that 4 game sweep of the mets. Mets swept the braves and won on monday. Welcome back Pedro and goodbye to the phillies. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Mets.

Instead, the Mets are five games up.

Almost feels like the six game lead before that Philly series last week.

El Duque is going to miss his next scheduled start on Friday.

Any word on whether this is serious or just precautionary?

Pelfrey finally got a win and it looks like the team can count on Pedro, so if Hernandez misses a start I guess it's not a huge deal.

I also heard that during the Met/Philly series last week, there were multiple Eagle chants. What the fuck is that about?

as I said in another thread - not done yet. Remember still 3 games with the Mets and have swept the Mets twice already. Also still got a shot at the wild card. Have a much easier schedule than the west coast teams. Key could be Hamels. Last week we all thought we was coming back on the weekend but he had a setback.

In honor of the Mets' first five-game winning streak on the season, I skimmed through our entire thread dedicated to the Amazins' 2007 campaign. There are some funny and some intense posts in here:

    1) That guy Dick Anderson predicting and insisting that the Braves are the best team in the NL.

    2) metsy called the firing of the hitting coach almost a month before it occurred.

    3) Countless posts cursing the name and faltering ability of one, Guillermo Mota (an on-going saga)

    4) The constant cynicism and sarcasm of Mets' fans towards players, coaches, managers, fellow Mets' fans, and fans of the opposition. I love how Mets' fans can be hardcore supporters and Chicken Little types all at the same time.

I'm looking forward to posting and biting my nails for the next two months. You Mets fans are awesome! Keep up the Amazin' talk and let's watch this team get prepped for October.

By the way, nice game by Paul LoDuca tonight. Good to see that we won't have to rely on DiFelice or Alomar, Jr. to carry the load for the stretch run ;)

Let's sweep the Reds and get back to Shea!

And we're back in action against the Reds in a Getaway Day Matinee.

Reyes has the day off and Gotay is starting at SS. Castillo is back @ 2B, while Conine gives rest to Delgado at 1B. Chavez and Milledge are in the corner OF spots and DiFelice is catching Maine today.

Get early runs and help Johnny out. Let's Go Mets!

We're back alright.. and so is Maine giving up his usual 5 runs minimum every other outing..why can't this fucker pitch two good consecutive games? He's a young guy, his arm should not be this worn out at this point of the season..

Delgado is back in NY getting an MRI on his hip. Let's hope he won't be out for long, especially since he finally started to hit!!

    Ladies, Gentlemen, Mets fans everywhere:

The Philip Humber era has officially begun, albeit in a blowout. The kid pitched the 7th and 8th innings of the Mets 7-0 loss @ Cincinnati.

He gave up 3 H, 1 ER, 2 K, 0 BB, and threw 25 of his 35 pitches for strikes. The batters in the 8th went 1, 2, 3--including two groundball outs and striking out Ken Griffey, Jr. on four pitches.

Welcome to the show, rook. Get ready to contribute to the Division Champions.

Too bad Maine got shelled today, but I'll take the series win and a return to Big Shea this weekend as good signs!

    these 3 are awesome

i knew the team was gonna give the hook to down during that slump, look at what wright has done since hojo cam on board, can you say david wright for MVP, hes gonna be a 30-30 player. i love the rants to mota, we sound like callers on mike and mad dog. the sarcasm towards each other is cause where die hard fans and have put up with enough bs for the last 21 years and i think where all on edge and tired cause of it.

id really like to see willie use pelfrey 6th and 7th during the playoffs. i trust pelfrey more then mota and thats not saying much

Call me crazy, but I don't think the Mets will miss him all that much. Green and Conine can fill in adequately enough, AND that means Milledge will see more time in RF.

Not a devastating development, if you asked me.

They swept the Astros without any complications from Delgado's absence. Pedro pitched very well in his five innings of work today. Mota surrendered the Astros only run in the one inning he pitched. Beltran and Alou led the Mets offensively.

It was a good weekend for the Mets. Their lead is up to 6 games, with the second and third place teams coming to Shea for six big ones this week. Here's your chance to put it away and pretty much clinch the division. Not to mention rubbing in their second straight Division Championship.

Two more HRs makes it a 30-30 season for DWright.

Mets haven't had one of those since HoJo in 1991, if I recall.

    'bout time. Nice season, Five.

Do you think it is killing omar to have Whitey, i mean wright, being the star of los mets?

with his collection of latin talent, and just even a couple weeks ago praising reyes as his most consistant player (while he was nose diving from .320 to .290), wright (as i predicted in this thread several weeks ago) is carrying this team, and is a leading MVP candidate. but also look out for omar to start the hype on beltran ... latin and his big investment years ago.

    GO METS!
