Fourth behind Glavine, Pedro, and who? Pelfrey? Sosa? Dave Williams?

I'm not convinced that El Duque won't miss the postseason--again. I DO agree with you about Maine not looking great for the past month or so. Maybe it's dead arm, but his dead arm may be more reliable than El Duque's bunyon. AND Maine was $$MONEY$$ in last year's postseason.

Whatever. First things first. Let's get the third win in a row and head back home! We've got to win the division before we set the playoff rotation.

Nice extra innings win yesterday, Mets.

Elimination number for Philadelphia is now 5. That's any combination of Mets' wins and Phillies losses that total 5. So let's hear some big cheers for the Mets to beat the Nationals and the Braves (ugh!) to beat the Phillies this week.

Although this month has been a fun warm-up for October, I think I preferred last year when the Mets won the division with two whole weeks left in the regular season.

By whatever means, just win the division already.

Anybody notice that Alou has a 27 game hitting streak, Delgado hit a HR, and DWright may just win the MVP? At least this team can hit the ball. Maybe they'll win a bunch of playoff games 9-8 and 12-11.

    Let's Go Mets!

Since I keep finding nuggets of Mets info:

    http://metsmerizedonline.com/blog/2007/09/mets_patching_things_up_with_t.html

They will wear a Shea Stadium patch on their sleeves next year to commemorate the final year of the ballyard.

Tough luck tonight. I guess those Nationals really have it in them to play spoiler when it comes to the Mets. Lead is now 2 games and Philly's elimination number remains at five.

Glavs goes tomorrow night. I expect a win, as he has pitched very well the second half of the year.

metsy: Why don't you have a 'David Wright for MVP' line in your sig? I remember it being there about this time last year.

that'd be cool, but i don't see them playing the same day because having them play different dates is more of a money-maker for the mets.

also more advantageous and lucrative for Springsteen and Joel..

Well, Delgado's timely home runs since his return has helped the Mets significantly, but let's hope Alou and Wright remain red hot while Beltran continues to heat up..Don't know about fucking Reyes though, he's garbage right now, and has been for a long fucking time..

  • Saw bruce at shea a couple years ago and it was great ... billy joel would be pretty cool. as for the jets, i do not think the lower stands move anymore. i remember going there for games and it was a scene.

shea is shea. it may be a dump, but it is my dump ... and when it is packed, there is nothing else like it. my fondest memory has to be when gooden broke the rookie strikeout record - shea was literally rocking... had to check the baseball library, but here it is:

Friday, September 7th - IN THE NEWS: Dwight Gooden pitches a one-hitter and strikes out 11 in a 10–0 rout of the Cubs. The only hit is Keith Moreland's slow roller in the 5th inning, which 3B Ray Knight fields but can't get out of his glove. Gooden's 11 strikeouts give him 236 for the season, breaking the National League rookie record set by Grover Alexander in 1911.
I don't want to be hostile. I don't want to be dismal. But I don't want to rot in an apathetic existance either.

Why do people find that amazing? I've had a ton of chances and offers to attend Yankee games and yet have never stepped foot in Yankee stadium. Even for a Met/Yankee game, I still couldn't bring myself to do it..The hate runs deep, as does the love..not weird, just sport..

I prefer Yankee Stadium to Shea but I still go to both more so because I like baseball. Although that pricing system the mets have based on the opponent is kind of dumb.

It's dumb because you really can't predict baseball in February or injuries. What if someone was a Bonds fan (they do exist) and the Mets charge 25 for the cheapest seat and he doesn't even play.

And fuck Jose Reyes. I don't think I've seen him get a hit in the last 15 games that I watched. He went fucking 0-5 th other night.

Henderson was a great, but lazy player. Can't help but think that his extensive work with Reyes has negatively impacted every aspect of his game. Since he joined the team, Reyes has been fucking garbage..maybe just a coincedence?
