That was a good one!! You and Jose should go out some time, because you both hit like fags. Hamels is just a precautionary move. I love seeing Wagner blow saves.

I do admire you phillies fans. Heck...to be loyal after all those years of hearbreak and failure....

it just goes to show you are a diehard fan...who will not sway w/ the tides of fortune....

to be honest though...Wagner has blown a lot less saves then i thought he would this year..

I love looking at the standing and seeing the Phillies 6 games back and the Braves @ 7. I love watching those numbers go up, too.

HUGE 10 game roadie this week and next in Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Cincinnati! Stay hot, Mets, and win 7 of 'em.

LoDuca and Chavez could come back this week. Pedro is making another start in Port St. Lucie. Delgado showed some signs of life on Saturday. David Wright has turned into a second-half beast.

This team may be putting it together at the right time of year. I'm EXCITED!

Please let go of Mota, with Willie to follow. Seriously, what kind of moron would continue to put this loser into critical games? If I had a little sister, she'd do a better job managing this team than this fucking asshole. Go fuck yourself, you fucking Yankee!!

another NY team that will not live up to the preseason hype. Phils will catch your sorry asses, and you will not make wild card.

NY only has the G-Men to look fwd to. Only team with anything goin on.
All that's sacred, comes from youth....dedications, naive and true.

What hype do the Jets have? Last year they were picked for dead last but instead had an amazing year. Subsequently, the expectations have risen for this year. The shitty Giants are always fucking hyped, not the Jets..

and Metsy, i'm with you about Willie..fuck this season..

    Ouch.

That four game sweep really stings, but the Mets are still in first place and can re-group/demonstrate their resilience by going into Atlanta and taking a couple of games.

Only the Monday game was a blow-out; the Mets were in all of them to the end. Despite losing four games on the field and in the standings, I'm still really upbeat about this team's chances. Call-ups are this weekend and LoDuca, Chavez, and some other fresh legs/arms are on their way.

The team played very well last week and the week before, so a let down against the Phils might've been right on-time. Besides, they come to Shea for three games of payback in a few weeks. Just in time to see the Mets put it out of reach. That'll be sweet!

Let's get back on track and bury Atlanta, Mets.

As much as this hurts...and it DOES...

as a Mets fan...i'm a perenial optimist....and here is what i have to say at this point....

"We actually have a 2 game lead on the division right now...whereas at the All-Star break...we only had a 1 game lead"...

Good to see the positivity is still shining.

Imagine what we might feel if we realized that the Phillies were three games back just two weeks ago. In essence, it took them a dozen games to gain one in the standings.

Beat Atlanta and all will be OK!

exactly! we lost 3 games there by inches...and some luck. things even out in baseball...esp. over such a huge amount of games. at least we scored 5 runs in the 8th (don't know how you lose when you do something like that)...last night...so we still got that fighting spirit. Maybe all the shananagans w/ the pitching will expediate Pedro's journey back....in which he will be the Pedro of '00 and dominate! :)

Right, but now we gave life to the struggling Phills. They finally have most of their pieces together and their offense is very very explosive! They may go on a huge run..it's more likely that they'll sweep the shitty Marlins than for the Mets to win one fucking game in Atlanta, who they never beat..Phills could be up a game come Monday..hope I'm wrong, but the Mets haven't faired well against decent teams..Like rhino said, both these teams wouldn't last long in the playoffs right now..

Who's going to be the starter in Saturday's game? Mets.com is showing TBA. I assume it will be one of the September call-ups or a long reliever who can pitch 4-5 innings as a starter.

    Hudson, James, Smoltz

    vs.

    Maine, TBA, Glavine

Mets can win behind Maine and Glavine and they can jump on Chuck James for lots of runs. I say they work out some frustrations leftover from Philly and take two of three in Atlanta. :)

Meanwhile, let's have the Phils suffer a letdown and give one of those games back.;)

    Let's Go Mets!

I'd be happy with one game...

    1) Maine has obviously worn out his tired arm. Minimum 5 runs per outing..Hudson will win..

    2) TBA is more than likely going to be Pelfrey. Who knows with this fucker, maybe he'll pitch a gem..Perhaps we squeeze out a win here, but don't hold your breath..

    3) Smoltz and Glavine? How many times has Glavine lost facing Smoltz this year, three?? Not to mention Glavine had a good game his last outing, so look for another typical 6-8 runs given up by the 5th...

Not looking good at all, but hey..I'm fucking optimistic too..

Agree on the Hudson/Maine. Saturday, Chuck James is returning from two weeks off with a dead arm; Mets will score plenty of runs for Pelfrey/Humber/whoever. Sunday is the fourth time Glavine & Smoltz have faced off this year. Fifth time Smoltz has faced the Mets; he's 2-0 in those five starts. I think Sunday's a toss-up, but Mets find a way to eek it out.

Do you fellow Mets fans read metsgeek.com? You should.

Check out the recap of yesterday: http://www.metsgeek.com/articles/2007/08/31/daily-mets-recap-august-31st-2007/

"But when you saw Billy Wagner asked to get all six, you knew the game was lost. Wagner is white and talks to the media, so nobody calls him a head case. But he’s a head case. He airs the club’s dirty laundry, he shakes hands with the enemy Phils in mid-game, and he folds whenever he’s called into a spot that doesn’t suit his liking. “I don’t wanna pitch two innings, it’s too hard! I’d rather groove one to Burrell in the eighth and then get beat by some middle infielders in the ninth! That’ll show ‘em!” Take your ball and go home, Billy."

You gotta love the cynic inside all us Mets fans. And you still gotta believe.
