Personally, I think Dent should have become Two-face in the final scene of the movie to set up the third with him as the main villain. his transformation from good to evil happened too fast.

would you really have wanted an ENTIRE movie with him as the main villain?
he was to the joker what the scarecrow was to raz al ghul... nolan seems to be comfortable with that dual villain format and i think that really functions nicely in his batmans unlike the old ones where mr. freeze and poison ivy would just be working with eachother for seemingly no reason...
i think his characters tranformation certainly couldve been developed a bit more though... sure the jokers persuasive, but one scene in the hospital room with the man responsible for your lovers death and hes convinced to become a killer... then again im sure ultimately he still wanted to kill the joker in the end when in a better position to do so... after getting even with all the others responsible
i really wasnt expecting to get the beginning and end of the whole 2 face story so late into the movie... which is probably why so many feel its incomplete
OR maybe they chose to tell everyone that he died a hero rather than telling them he DIED a crook... his face was already burnt... so no coffin at the ceremony? maybe the just finished the job by cremating him... i think were looking into this too much and nolan didnt mean for their to be so much ambiguity... but i could be wrong... i just wanna keep giving my side since i seem to be the minority here
his character development matched the typical tragic literary fall from grace... what would he do in the next film? redeem himself? it would be reduntant for him to continue killing people... unlike the joker he was killing with purpose... and he killed off those responsible for rachels death... you think hes gonna keep going after gordon and his family? or turn his attention to batman now?
See, I think that's what you're missing. They can't tell people he died a crook or every mobster he out behind bars will be released.
Redeem himself? No. But if a nosy journalist or cop starts to wonder about the truth behind batman. One interview with some cops, one interview with Gordon's kids...and whether he is dead or alive...that could jeopardize everyhing that he did. The point is, they aren't going to just let Batman take the fall and be a murderer.

i dont think im missing anything... i didnt say they should say he died a crook... i think they did exactly what they shouldve... they said he died a hero... i just actually believe that he DIED... which makes more sense than having to hide him til his death under lock and key...
batmans a dark character... he can take the heat of a few murders... youre looking at it from an outside allknowing perspective, knowing bruce waynes back storying and that batman is actually a hero... but for the people of gotham that have been following this batman story, the media have spun it so much that people dont know what to think of him... its not a far cry to think people would believe if they heard batman killed 5 people...
just watch burton's "batman returns"... the next film will deal with the same issue that happened in that... and happened in the comics... batmans more complex than your usual hero... people dont know what to think of him... how can someone that only operates in the dark of night with a mask on be a good guy? but thats what makes him so cool

yeah maybe if he turned into Two-face earlier it would have worked a bit better. and you're right that maybe two-face as the main villain in the next movie wouldn't work. but at least he'd already be established. and who would make a good villain for the third movie? he seems to lean towards "realistic" villains like Ra's Al Ghul and Joker. I just can't see they likes of Penguin, Posion Ivy, or even Riddler in Nolan's films....but we'll see.

I was worried that Heath would obliterate all other Jokers, but that didn't happen. Heath was amazing, and probably the best Joker (if not best villain) ever, but I can still enjoy Mark Hamill's voice work and Jack's Joker as well.
I love my female wife...
we sit around and wonder exactly why our marriage should feel threatened by gay marriage

I just can't see they likes of Penguin, Posion Ivy, or even Riddler in Nolan's films....but we'll see.
i mentioned penguin earlier and someone noted that nolan specifically said he will NOT do a film with him... and i agree itd be a bad fit for nolans gritty style... i was saying earlier in this thread i have no idea who the next badguy will be... he really shouldve saved the joker for last... hes batmans biggest baddy and anything he does after this one will have big shoes to fill... i would prefer they leave it with this film than do an inadequate final piece to a tainted trilogy (godfather III)
but theres certainly a need for MORE! maybe nolan will have to dig deep and write a new bad guy for nolan? or im not familiar with newer batman comics but im sure theyve gotten more mature and there may be a bad guy in there for him to use
my vote would go for that as well... we saw batmans polar opposite in this one... so to see the enemy most like him in the next installment would be cool... i just hope halle berry is willing to don the leather suit again

Well you have to strike while the iron's hot. One "flaw" about Batman Begins was that Scarecrow and Ra's Al Ghul are characters that didn't appear in the Burton/Shoemaker films so they were new to people who never read the comics. people who may not have even thought about Batman over the last 15 years were probalby excited just to hear that Joker would play a part. they had a good script for Dark Knight and totally had the right actor to play Joker, so I disagree when you say that Joker should have come last.
I think that Harvey Two Face would have made good villain for the third (even if it's only for the first half and another bad guy is introduced later in the film). it would leave people who saw Dark Knight curious to know what's going to become of Two-Face. Now, I think Nolan may be in a bit of a tight spot trying to establish a new villain for the third.
and lastly, Godfather III is a complete abortion and I don't even consider Godfather to be a trilogy. It's just two awesome movies. Unless you LOVE Al Pacinio, there's no reason to ever watch part 3.
Here's a bootleg of Dark Knight. It's pretty good for being taped by some guy in the audience with a camera. worth the download until the DVD comes out.
Note: DO NOT under any circumstances download any Dark Knight torrent other than this one I just posted. most of the Dark Knight torrents on isohunt are fakes. I downloaded (700MB) one last night only to find that all the winzip file had was a link to some "Get free gifts" website.
I think he may go with Riddler or Catwoman. He could probably write some twisted stuff for them. They really left it open for the third and where the story would go. I hope they don't try and bring the Joker back.
I could easily see the Riddler in this world.
It could be Batman meets The Bone Collector in tone. But, I'm not sure how they could pull off bigger action than TDK, Riddler isn't that type of villain. Only the Joker could believably pull off what happened in this film.
Then again, the way it ended, is poetically perfect for the way Batman should operate in this particular world.
spoiler alert.........................
I mean, he already had copy cats dying in this film....a bad rep for batman= no more innocents dying at the hands of criminals
Like I said in the other film. Catwoman for a few reasons
[SPOILERS!]
...main female lead is dead.
Not too unrealistic.
Riddler may be a bit too similar to The Joker.
And Lucious Fox line about the armor..."It'll hold up fine against cats."

Scarlett Johannsen!
Just coz I'm in love with her. And she hasa sexy voice.
i think natalie portman would be a better fit now that i think about it... might not be right for it though... it needs to be someone a bit more athetically built... tall and model like... instead of that sexy girl next door type
friend called yesterday and wanted to see it, so i was like sure ill see it again. 3 times already, and im not bored with. there is atleast one scene in the trailer thats not in the movie.....got me hoping for an extend scenes dvd already.
You mean the shot of him in the back seat of a car that htey put up on the official site last Halloween?
Even though she was in X-Men...I think Famke Janssen would make an awesome Catwoman.

a lot of people over at imdb seem to think that Angelina Jolie would be a good choice
i could also see this working... that might be too much star power for the role though... as big as heath was he didnt have such an obnoxious personal life (until his death) to overshadow the movie... shes certainly hot and saucy enough to pull it off though
i think nolan would probably prefer and upandcoming actress... like i said i cant think of any that would fit the role as i see it in my mind and work well in the universe nolan has created... anything too sexy and she wont come off as too believable
I read somewhere that Gordon's daughter would end up becoming Catwoman?
Personally, I could do without her. I'd rather see the Riddler.
With that being said......The Dark Knight was fucking unbelievable. Not too often that a movie lives up to the hype. And Heath Ledger?? Wow, just wow. What a final performance that ended up being.

cause guns are too quick.....
you don't get to savor all those little emotions......
you see, in their last moments, people show you who they really are
so in a sense, i know your friends better than you ever did
would you like to know which of them were cowards?
Ledger, evil psychopath. damn awesome!
that part was great. it was like oh snap! thats cold man. but it fit the joker, played so well. that whole prison part was great.
Just to piss off all the Movie geeks who care its number over Godfather !
