I read somewhere that Nolan has enough stock footage of Ledger as the Joker to have him in the third movie.

    That would be fuckin awesome

No one else can play the joker now...imo

Number 1 in IMDB?? That's a fucking joke.. that list is worthless. The movie was good and Heath was good... but it could have been better. I thought Batman Begins had a better script. I definitely didn't leave the theater amazed like I did after I saw Fight Club or the Shawshank Redemption.
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.

As I've noted on the Dark Knight imdb board......people who care about the imdb top 250 are the biggest losers in the world.

you should see some of the people on that board dude. it's ridiculous. I went there last night trying to talk about the film and it was flooded with trolls complaining about the rating.

"The Godfather is better!!! How is Dark Knight rated ahead of The Godfather!?!?!?!"

yeah, no shit the Godfather is better. but those fags never consider the following:

    Average Godfather fan: ages 40-60
Average Dark Knight fan: ages 13-30

Now who spends more time on the internet voting in movie polls?

I gave Dark Knight a 9 on the rating but changed it to 10 when I saw how many people really are offended by the fact that it's #1. they're pathetic.

    No,

    I hope XBOX comes up with a Blu-Ray add-on, I'm stuck with the HD-DVD's

I would totally buy a stand alone Blu-Ray player when this comes out on DVD and start building my collection around this.

This is the most overrated movie of all time. I had a great time watching it, but it is nowhere near a 9 out of 10.

this movie can never be fairly and rationally rated by most people because of all the hype, the HUGE scale of it, and heath ledgers death

ill give it a few years and rewatch to see what i really think of it

right now though i think i love it for all the right reasons... still not one of my favorite movies though (like someone already mentioned fight club and shawshank)

There were obvious flaws to the movie to be sure. With most things I think time will tell that it's a solid 6 or 7 out of ten. With the sad state of movies and even sadder state of comic book movies, that's really good.

There are obvious flaws in every movie. If you went in thinking this was going to be The Departed or No Country for Old Men, you may have been dissapointed. And even those movies had flaws. I know plenty of people that think those movies were just OK. I think this may be the best comic adaptation to date. For overall entertainment, maybe the best I have seen in a while. And I think Ledger was just as good or maybe even better than Bardem was last year.

i think its sad that there will always be this shadow of a doubt because of his death... cause i can honestly say i agree that he was better... and i dont care that hes dead... didnt really have a personal relationship with the guy so i see him no more frequently now than i did when he was alive... and i hated everything he did before this so i have no reason to love his performance in this other than that it was phenomenal

Exactly. It's not like I was a huge fan of Heath Ledger before he died or anything, so his death really did nothing for me. I just saw his performance and thought it was amazing.

And I'm sorry, but what the fuck do people have to complain about this movie?

oh how soon we forget! :p
there are sooooo many movies that were over-hyped and over-rated.

i loved this movie for what it is. in the comic-book action genre, i definitely give it a 9 out of 10. my husband would agree with you though. he liked it a lot, but wasn't completely wowed....and yes, he thought it too long. i loved it as is.

you're on your own there buddy! there isn't a lot to complain about at all.

The Two-Face character btw was meant to be a lead-in to the next film anyways.....the fact that they even showed his face that much in the end surprised me.

The asian character has a lot to do with the plot, what are you talking about?

And Dent was always two-face, it just took getting half his face burned off for him to realize it.

And the Batman voice doesn't bother me only because it took me a while to get used to it in Begins..but now I'm cool with it.

He has to disguise his voice. You'd actually rate a movie a lower score for that?
there was no point to the Asian character in terms of plot
People would say the same thing about Mr. Reese. I think the whole point is that Chris Nolan tries to tie everything together. With Mr. Reese, he tries to make it as realistic as possible, in that someone always finds out this kind of shit and would try to go to the media with it or something. The Asian guy, other than the fact that he was important for the Joker to find out where all the money was, and that he played as a necessary example for Harvey Dent having a witness and not doing absolutely nothing to solve the cases, his capture also was the main reason that the mob bosses had no funds, which, I think, was essential to the story. Maybe there was no character development for him, but who the fuck needs character development for some random Asian guy when you have so many others? :p
    the two-face character never develops
I can see why you'd think that, but I think his character develops very nicely. (I also think they're saving him for the next movie)...

Most of these are opinions, obviously, so don't take it personally. I'm not saying you're lying or anything, I'm just getting your take on it and sharing my own...:)

where did you get this? im pretty sure hes actually dead... theres no reason for him to return in the next film... he played his purpose in the world of batman and i certainly have no interest in seeing more of him

or did you just mean the mentality? "you either die fighting for what you believe in or live long enough to become the villain"

Disagree very much so. I definitely think he'll be back. No way he's dead. If they bring back the Scarecrow who really didn't do a whole much in Begins, they'll bring back two-face who played an important role in TDK.

And what do you mean he played his purpose. If ever a whiff gets out that he is a murdering maniac with a horrible flesh burn, then all the guys he convicted go free. Major plot line that can be partially incorporated into a third movie.

I think I do, I was blown away and did not think he would be better than Nicholson. He owned the role and took it to another level. But that was my opinion. I take it you were not as impressed with what he did.

thats why batman took the fall at the end... and why they did the press conference commending dent... and why they smashed the bat signal... his "important role in TDK" was to bring hope to gotham and he did that... along with a secret fall from grace... anything more would be unnecessary... i could understand the motivation of gordons fake death, but WHY would they cover up 2 face's? they stood there over his body... what more reason do i need to believe hes actually dead? the only incorporation in the third will be that batman will begin it as an outlaw because of the people dent killed

and i agree that the small clip with the scarecrow was useless and probably the biggest problem i had with the film... lets tie up the loose ends from the last movie in one short unnecessary scene  ... i wouldve assumed batman had already apprehended him had i not seen him at all... he was a lil bitch with no way to fight batman after he got the antidote

Yeah, but this is Batman here. There is NO way they would just let the murders be tagged on him. I mean he is the good guy. Besides the fake funeral, what proof do we have that Dent is dead? He could have just been knocked unconcious by the fall...I mean THIS IS a comic book movie, by the way.

And like I said they cover up two face because if word gets out he IS a murderer then all his good he did for the city is over. Like the mayor said, "If they find some dirt on you. You'll have to answer to them. The police, the politicians, and the press."

Don't you think it's a giant cover up? Couldn't a cop who helped remove the body say something about how Dent's face was burned and he had prints on the gun? And what about Maroni? The driver of the car died, but did the car crash kill him? He knows Dent is a murderer.

It seems too easy to just kill him off after much of the movie was setting up his transformation to Two-Face. I very much think he'll be one of the villians in the next movie.

I think Two-Face is alive. For one, they showed his coin right next to him after the fall with the right side up, hinting towards him surviving the fall. For another, I think all Gordon did was hide Two-Face somewhere. They didn't want Two-Face to go to jail or take the fall for the kills because they knew it would crush Gotham's hope. They chose, instead, to tell everyone that he died a hero.

Also, the fact that they didn't show a coffin at the ceremony also kind of shows that he's not dead. Two-Face definitely had a big role this movie, and he'll definitely have to play one next movie.

they said that dent killed 5 people... so maroni's death was implied... as was ramirez (whom they never showed him kill)... and i couldnt even figure out 1 of those 5... so you dont gotta worry about there being any witnesses... and im sure gordon has the authority to cover up the prints on the gun... and the burnt face? horrible accident that the public was already aware of

and the fact that batman is taking the fall IS THE POINT... its batmans sacrifice... to the thread that asks if batman is a real superhero... THIS is batmans super power... his sacrifice and self control... if dents not actually dead then this sacrifice is definitely minimalized... itd be much harder to cover up what dent did if they put him in prison... and they certainly cant let him roam free... i have NO DOUBT in my mind that hes dead... the plot wouldnt be as good otherwise

ill ask nolan to confirm if i must... i can see no reason why he would bring 2 face back... nor why it would be necessary to use stock footage of the joker in the next film... hes in jail... just leave it at that

we'll have to wait til the next installment though to find out...

OR maybe they chose to tell everyone that he died a hero rather than telling them he DIED a crook... his face was already burnt... so no coffin at the ceremony? maybe the just finished the job by cremating him... i think were looking into this too much and nolan didnt mean for their to be so much ambiguity... but i could be wrong... i just wanna keep giving my side since i seem to be the minority here

his character development matched the typical tragic literary fall from grace... what would he do in the next film? redeem himself? it would be reduntant for him to continue killing people... unlike the joker he was killing with purpose... and he killed off those responsible for rachels death... you think hes gonna keep going after gordon and his family? or turn his attention to batman now?
