  • I've already heard 3 different so called experts say it's a bad thing that the mets couldn't beat a college team, and eeded a 9th inning HR jut to tie the game. Hey, I love knocking the Mets, but c'mon. It's the first game of spring training. But what's up with HillBilly Wagner saying he something about drilling a guy for trying to bunt?

Yesterday was an exhibition. The Mets pulled their starters after a couple of innings and didn't throw one projected starting pitcher. Michigan probably brought their A-game and didn't make any substitutions until the sixth inning or so.

I didn't hear the Wagner comment. Where could I find it?

Billy Wagner was furious when Michigan center fielder Kevin Cislo tried to lay down a bunt during Wagner's one inning of work.

The Wolverines were lucky the bunt went foul, because Wagner said he might have drilled someone if it had not.

"It's hot and I'm just trying to work on some pitches," Wagner fumed afterward. "Go do that against Villanova!"

That's a bit of a stretch coming off the worst collapse in organized professional sports history. If both the Mets and the Yankees make the playoffs this year, that would make it 14 straight for the Yankees, 1 straight for the Mets. And how come when the Yankees pend money on their team, they are pure evil, but when the Mets throw money around like crazy, Omar is "the man". seriously, has any team spent nearly as much on free agents over the past 4 years as the Mets? The Yankees numbers are skewed because of ARod's ridiculous $300 mil, but the Mets are now making the Yankees look frugal.

It's not on cable here in Florida. I may have to take a long lunch at a sports pub.

Anybody want to come down for a Grapefruit League game? ;)

Oh, come on. It was his first work of the spring. Of course he's going to look a bit rusty and serve up some meatballs.

If he pitches poorly in games that actually matter (i.e. April-October  ), then you can rightly boo him.

    Settle down.

Exactly. I was just excited to see him in a Mets uniform!

  • I heard on the radio after the Gonzalez bomb that he is something like 6-7 off Johan, with 3 HR's and 2 2B's or something like that. Now, i believe he's just another roider who's got nothing left in the tank, but if the Cards cut him, the Phillies or the Braves should sign him just to play him against Johan. For someone to just absolutely own the best pitcher in baseball like that, wow.
  • Church and Anderson collide. Church goes to hopital w/ a concussion, Anderson banged up, headed to hospital also. I wonder if Church, in his concussed atate, has been babbling to his fine Jewish doctors that they are facing eternal damnation along with Church's ex-girlfriend.

And Delgado sent to NY for MRI on hip.

The Mets 1B situation is getting ridiculous. At least they got Michel Abreu's visa problem figured out. They'll find out quickly this spring how well he can play.

Delgado is breaking down and the Mets need a Plan B in a hurry.

But the reserves scrubbed out a second win this weekend, so maybe they're not all bad. ;)

That's the only thing I heard. "Heilman can't be traded now that Sanchez is out". I did see in the paper that he was supposed to pitch today, but was scratched. Maybe they just meant they can't trade heilman, because they don't know what to expect from Sanchez. I don't want to start a panic.

Alou needs hernia surgery and will be out until May. That news is everywhere. And it is certainly not shocking.

I can't find anything about Duaner Sanchez. Without knowing the context, I'd almost say the Mets won't trade Heilman--not because of Sanchez--but because they can't bring themselves to admit he'd be a starter in other rotations after they've sworn up and down he doesn't have the stuff to be a starter in theirs.

With all the injuries, who wants to start the pool on when Castillo is going down? I'll take June 12, just about the time the OF gets healthy and starts producing.
