Haha. Relax, you guys had a 5 game lead on us last year... surely, you're not comfortable with a 1 game lead?
And tell Jose that he hasn't won the World Series yet, so he shouldn't hold his arm up the entire time he circles the bases after a home run. He should be more concerned with making sure he steps on 2nd base to record an out.
I do enjoy this rivalry, although with each passing game, I think my hatred for your Mets grows, as I'm sure the feeling is mutual on your end."If you love someone, set them free... if someone loves you, don't fuck up" - EV0 -

Excuse me, but this is the biggest double standard I ever heard. He just hit a homerun to take the lead in a very important game against one the Mets biggest rivals. He should have his hands up and show his emotions. But go take a look at a replay of Shane Victorino standing on home plate this series. How come no one says anything about it? The only way I can understand it is that you guys are just jealous and want Reyes yourselves.you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.0 -

Haha. We've got the better shortstop (remember, he won the MVP last year). Why would I want an immature player like Reyes, yes, he's got a lot of talent, but I've seen high school players with better fundamentals than him.
I have no problem with showing emotion, that's part of the rivalry. However, running the bases while holding up 1 finger the whole time is just showing his immaturity. Go ahead, stand at the plate and watch your home run, or celebrate at home plate with your teammates, that's fine... Pulling your best Joe Carter or Carlton Fisk impression is not, those home runs were in the World Series."If you love someone, set them free... if someone loves you, don't fuck up" - EV0 -
Reyes aside. Nice series. See you guys in a few weeks."If you love someone, set them free... if someone loves you, don't fuck up" - EV0

What about clapping in another guy's face? A la Victorino?
And again, putting his arm up until between first and second is not a big deal, nor in my opinion immature at all.
People call Reyes immature because he's in the spotlight. Anywhere else and he wouldn't have been.
And Rollins was the least deserving MVP of all time. Reyes is putting up a better season than Rollins is by far anyway.
Also, speaking of immaturity, Rollins was pulled from the lineup today, for the second time this season for his attitude...you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.0 -

lol..pretty dumb to go after Reyes on this issue and then praise Rollins being that the litte fucker got yet another time out from his manager..immature..lol....and the Philly announcers are complete morons....'I want to hurry home to you

Damn! It feels good to have the Mets back in first place! Especially when it comes at the hands of the Phillies.
Yes, Santana should've finished what he started. There's no good reason why he couldn't have thrown another 15 pitches and slammed the door on Monday. But I think we all know what to expect the next time that situation happens. Maine pitched a fine game and Ollie was lights-out. Nice job by Wagner to shake off the stiffness and get the job done in games two and three.
July has been very, very good to these Mets so far. I'd like to see the hot streak continue for another three months or so.
Let's Go (first-place) Mets!

Just one more thing...
Am I alone in the sentiment that I don't care whether Pedro ever throws another pitch for the Mets?
Just seems like a waste to try and bring him back in the middle of a great month and risk yet another momentum-killing injury.

I am one of the biggest Mets / Reyes haters around but give the guy a break. Players in this league do just as bad if not worse signs of showing up another team than he does. Just look at K-Rod. It all stems from the NY media making a big deal out of EVERYTHING. They ripped on Joba for striking out a hitter on opening day, they constantly rip Reyes for just about everything.
Now granted I couldn't imagine the likes of Jeter or some of the other all-time great SS (Ozzie Smith, Visquel) acting like Reyes does but still, everybody relax. And to the Phillies, if you don't like the way he acts.....win the game. Winning shuts up everyone.Hey, you wouldn't hire a clown to fix a leak in the jon so why do you let these hooligans tear down the biz? YEEAAHHH. I don't care if he is Mr. Notorious BIG, can he croon?0 -

Thank you for the objectivity. And you're right, it isn't the classiest thing to do, but this whole thing about calling his maturity into it is just ridiculous.you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.0 -

I woke up this morning and checked the standings. The Mets have a two-game lead in the NL East and have won 14 of their last 17 games. The starting pitching has been phenomenal and the corner infielders are mashing the ball (with plenty of speed on the bases in front of them).
THIS is the Mets team I have been waiting to see for six months now. Keep it up!
Let's Go Mets!
