Nice win against the Tripe-A Iowa Cubs.

LOL...and they almost beat the Class A Mets :D

  • for those of you wondering about the cubbies this weekend, lou will make it competitive. first off, brewers are a divisional rival and the cubs would not want to have them in the playoffs. second, if you are going by last night, there is no way that sweet lou was going to risk players getting hurt in the rain, or having a pitcher tweek something on a sloppy mound (ha ha) ... he will keep them fresh this weekend.

    YA GOTTA BELIEVE!!!

And not to mention Lou did it as well to "help" the Mets get in...Cause if the Mets get the wildcard, they get the Cubs...and that's exactly what Sweet Lou wants...That pitching staff against his nasty lineup...Dead in the water.

Haha. Oh man, I may try and be calm and collected here, but you should see me watching games. My housemate described it as "listening to someone in a torture chamber" and that was before Wed. night. I find myself screaming at the tv on a nightly basis with these bastards. And after Wed. night, there is no more calm and collected Yosi.

Fuck this shit man. I won't start calling Wright D-Rod, well, cause after last season, where he defined clutch, he deserves another chance to redeem himself (and also I don't want a name like that stick and then have him actually turn into the next A-Rod) - but this does not mean I am not pissed as shit at him in general. And seriously, him not hitting to the opposite field is almost as infuriating as Delgado not hitting to the opposite field when the shift is on: THERE ARE NO INFIELDERS!!! FUCKING JUST TAP IT DOWN THE THIRD BASE LINE AND GET A FUCKING HIT.

Ok. Breathe... Big game tonight. We need to sweep this series so fucking badly...

lol..last night the Marlins were already leading before the game even started..no joke....this team has no heart or guts..how could they not even show up? They make millions and don't give a motherfucker and are probably laughing at our dumb asses for caring more than they do..

Lou will play to win if I had to guess. I think he'd rather face the Mets than the Dodgers. And he'd rather face them especially if they have to use Santana on Sunday. That would mean Santana would be unavailable until Game Three.

The cubbies sure looked like a team laying down last night..it's ovah, it's ovah!!

Ummm...yeah, so I waited to give my rebuttal...... can we close this thread since the Mets' 2008 season is OVER.

Hey, Jerry Manuel - that loss today was GANGSTA.

Well, I hate for the season to end like this, but, well it has.

I'm not as depressed as last year, and maybe that's cause it hasn't sunk in yet, but also probably because this year wasn't really a collapse in the same manner of speaking. I think if one were to look at this season not in the context of coming after 2007, they would just see a great and close pennant race. And obviously it sucks that we're out, but what can you do?

Congrats to the Phillies, you guys really won it this year, and were definitely the team to beat. So good on you guys.

I hope you get swept in the NLDS.

I'd think that last year was much worse. The Mets led for the entire season, this year they were only in first place for two weeks or so. Also how eerie is it that both meltdowns began with 17 games remaining? So in the last two years in just 34 games, they've lost 10 1/2 games in the standings to the Phillies.

its only semantics, but it was actually 13 1/2 games total... you finished 3 back of us this year.

Get a bullpen and come see us next year.

Its clear the bullpen sucks, but the truth is, the offense quit on us this week too. Granted, if we had a decent bullpen we wouldn't have been in a pressure situation this week, but, given that we were, the offense certainly didn't help down the stretch.

Man on third...no outs...bottom of the ninth...Wright to bat....no run?

Last game at Shea....win to force a playoff....2 runs by your offense?

Like I said, the offense quit on us this week. But, with 29 blown saves by your bullpen, most of the blame definitely goes there.

how about Mike Schmidt was right and the Phils are just a better team - I mean they did win 2 division titles in a row (and counting).

To be fair, both teams suck some major cock..and the Mets did win the season series between the two clubs....I give the Phils credit for being something like 80-0 after leading after 8..that's unbelievable!! The Mets on the other hand blew nearly 30 save, which is just as if not more unbelievable..i mean losing 7/8 run leads on a regular basis must be disheartening and yet somehow the Mets kept their heads above water and if they had anything close to resembling a bullpen, this race wouldn't have even been close, right?

With that said, your team has clutch players, ours do not..not even close..the miserable motherfuckers would have only won one game if not for Santana last week...3 and 4 at home in the last 7 games is simply unacceptable..

A three-year extension for Omar but the two sides can't agree on numbers for Manuel? What gives?

I also saw a report where Bobby Valentine said he could be interested in managing the Mets again. Not that anyone from the team has contacted him.

At least the Cubs' performance is taking some of the sting out of the Mets' failed run at the postseason. Never thought I would be delighted to see the Dodgers winning games in October...

Good stuff man I'll check it out. The bottom line this year is that DESPITE the bullpen we went into the last week of the season, the last regular season games at shea, with a 1.5 game lead over the Brewers and for the second straight we year blew it. No outs Murphy on third and he doesn't score, not the bullpens fault. 5 runs, 5 FUCKING RUNS in the lst 3 games, unacceptable. Coming out on Sunday after Johan pitches the game of his life the day before, one of the best pitched games in the history of the Mets and doing nothing against Scott Olsen, unheard of.

NY talk radio has been calling for a change in the core of the Mets and I have to agree. Wright,Reyes,Beltran are too valuable of commodities to trade, without them the Mets don't get to the last week of the season with a lead. Delgado is the problem. He has too much influence in the clubhouse and is too much apart of the old influence (ie pedro, alou, castillo etc) that the Mets need to get away from. With only one year left on his contract he has trade value and could bring back a good right handed bat. The Mets need to stop building the team around good numbers players, and start bringing in winning players.
