  • Interesting goings on at Shea....Going to the bottom of the 11th, and the Mets have just heilman left in the pen. How many innings could he possibly go? Wagner pitched the last 2, no way he pitches a 3rd
  • Johan Santana is now officially a Met . loafing at home plate while his long fly ball bounces off the wall. he missed a homerun by 2 feet, and almost got thrown out AT FIRST BASE.

    Typical.

But he DID get the complete game this time out. That's an improvement, for sure.

I'd like to welcome the Mets to the State of Florida for their set against the Fish this week. Wish I could get down to Miami...

What the hell just happened? Why is Maine out??

Fucking Carlos Muniz is in... Uch, he is so bad...
you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.
  • they said on the radio it's a forearm thing, but they also said they could clearly see maine saying "I'm fine"

You'd think after several years of this, they'd bolster the middle relief and make it a priority.

Wagner is 37. Surely they don't intend for Heilman to be the next closer after he's gone. What the hell is the plan for the bullpen, Omar?

No way! How could a bullpen cost a team games if the pitching and hitting is good?

By the way, here's something all Mets fans can appreciate...

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I present to you Exhibit A: Joe Smith.

Not that the Mets are going to tie it in the top of the 9th, but being 1 run down is much better than being down 3.

I predict no trade for the Mets before 4 pm tomorrow.

Manny to the Marlins, Bay to the Sox, Hermida to the Pirates.

    Crazy.

    Crazy.

Marlins announcers reported that as a possibility, but then I saw on ESPN's cut-in that the deal isn't happening. Manny stays put.

Well, at least he didn't land in the NL East.

Mets were suspiciously quiet, but understandably so since they dealt so many good prospects to Minnesota for Santana. They still need a solid middle reliever, but I think the corner OF spots are serviceable as they currently stand.

That's what Schoeneweis said after getting the save in the dicey ninth inning tonight against San Diego.

“Me getting the save is as much a highlight as [when] I ate the 1,000th cheesesteak served in the away clubhouse in Philadelphia this year,” Schoeneweis said. “That’s about where it ranks. Right guy in the right place. Lucky.”

  • part of me was rooting for him to blow it, as it's always fun to listen to the FAN after a disaster like that. But I have Pelfrey in both of my money Fantasy leagues, so I was actually hoping he would get the out. What's up with Heilman? The league figured him out? I laughed out loud when I heard on the FAN today that he head been named the closer while Wagner's on the DL.

I think the terror code for both NY teams is now set on red considering the recent developments.

yeah, that's what I'm thinking. They want a confirmation from Andrews that surgery is necessary. I hope I'm wrong

Oh man. Its never a good sign when you're counting on a guy like Tatis to save your asses every night. Cause one day, Tatis is gonna remember that he's Tatis, and then never get a hit again.

If he remembers who he is, then he might hit 2 grand slams in an inning.

Marlins are doing their part, but the Mets bullpen keeps giving leads away.

Decent start by Pedro last night, but I'm still waiting for his next injury to occur.

    Freakin' Show/Heilman...

Mets win on a strong 7-inning effort by Oliver Perez. Nice job by the bullpen not to blow that one. Wish they could do the same for Johan's outings, but that's for another day.

Pirates take one in Philly in extras, meaning the Mets are just one game out of first place.

Daniel Murphy is ridiculous. 10 for 20 in his first seven games with 5 RBI.
