    Fuck all you philly fans.

You should be cursing Jose Reyes. Not us. Or maybe Endy Chavez. Or your 3rd base coach.

Why are you paying Santana so much money if they don't want him to pitch 9 innings?

But thank you Billy Wagner for sitting out and giving us this win.

Last night was absurd. I hope Santana keeps his head up. He's on board for 7 years.

Fuck me, that was painful....so does anyone know why the fuck Santana was unable to finish the fucking game?? And I for one ain't saying shit about Wagner anymore, as this proves exactly how important he really is to this pathetic pussy pitching staff..

And I don't want to hear Santana blame anyone but himself, for his spoiled pampered ass should have pitched the 9th and handled business..

I have a feeling it was Manuel's call and not Santana's that he didn't pitch the ninth. No way he was asking to come out.

I don't know about that, I just heard on the Fan that Santana has only pitched 6 complete games in his career..1 last year, and it was against the Mets..lol...

I just saw the highlights and what the fuck is Reyes doing being so slow in going to the bag for the forceout. how does that happen? jeez.

Trying to make the highlight reel play instead of getting one and shortening the inning. My biggest complaint would be how the hell does that ball get over Endy Chavez's head??? He should be playing so deep that there is no chance the Phils get a double in that situation.

Playing shallow to try and make a play at the plate, I guess..

Anyway, Maine has sucked dick this season, let's hope not so much tonight..

I don't know what Endy was thinking. In that situation you can't let the ball get over your head like that. You have to keep the ball in front of you and hold the runners.

As far as Reyes goes, when he is on is game he is AWESOME, but he does tend to have these brain farts in big situations. ie, the pickoff at 2nd base vs the Yanks and last night. There is one thing coach's tell you dating back to Little League. Before the ball is hit to you know what you are going to do with it. Now, I know it was an in between hop but you have to bite the bullet and not try to be the hero and get the sure out on that play.

The 9th inning was a complete fucking nightmare..I couldn't believe what I was listening to..I threw the radio against the wall after that double, which sucks because it's also our alarm clock that now I have to replace or my wife will kill me..

Tonight is what last night should have been like.

Perez going tomorrow. Should be good. He has been good recently and is generally good in big games. Lets just pray for the "real" Ollie shows up.

Haha. Relax, you guys had a 5 game lead on us last year... surely, you're not comfortable with a 1 game lead?

And tell Jose that he hasn't won the World Series yet, so he shouldn't hold his arm up the entire time he circles the bases after a home run. He should be more concerned with making sure he steps on 2nd base to record an out.

I do enjoy this rivalry, although with each passing game, I think my hatred for your Mets grows, as I'm sure the feeling is mutual on your end. :)

Excuse me, but this is the biggest double standard I ever heard. He just hit a homerun to take the lead in a very important game against one the Mets biggest rivals. He should have his hands up and show his emotions. But go take a look at a replay of Shane Victorino standing on home plate this series. How come no one says anything about it? The only way I can understand it is that you guys are just jealous and want Reyes yourselves.

Haha. We've got the better shortstop (remember, he won the MVP last year). Why would I want an immature player like Reyes, yes, he's got a lot of talent, but I've seen high school players with better fundamentals than him.

I have no problem with showing emotion, that's part of the rivalry. However, running the bases while holding up 1 finger the whole time is just showing his immaturity. Go ahead, stand at the plate and watch your home run, or celebrate at home plate with your teammates, that's fine... Pulling your best Joe Carter or Carlton Fisk impression is not, those home runs were in the World Series.

What about clapping in another guy's face? A la Victorino?

And again, putting his arm up until between first and second is not a big deal, nor in my opinion immature at all.

People call Reyes immature because he's in the spotlight. Anywhere else and he wouldn't have been.

And Rollins was the least deserving MVP of all time. Reyes is putting up a better season than Rollins is by far anyway.

Also, speaking of immaturity, Rollins was pulled from the lineup today, for the second time this season for his attitude...

Damn! It feels good to have the Mets back in first place! Especially when it comes at the hands of the Phillies.

Yes, Santana should've finished what he started. There's no good reason why he couldn't have thrown another 15 pitches and slammed the door on Monday. But I think we all know what to expect the next time that situation happens. Maine pitched a fine game and Ollie was lights-out. Nice job by Wagner to shake off the stiffness and get the job done in games two and three.

July has been very, very good to these Mets so far. I'd like to see the hot streak continue for another three months or so.

    Let's Go (first-place) Mets!

    Just one more thing...

Am I alone in the sentiment that I don't care whether Pedro ever throws another pitch for the Mets?

Just seems like a waste to try and bring him back in the middle of a great month and risk yet another momentum-killing injury.

I am one of the biggest Mets / Reyes haters around but give the guy a break. Players in this league do just as bad if not worse signs of showing up another team than he does. Just look at K-Rod. It all stems from the NY media making a big deal out of EVERYTHING. They ripped on Joba for striking out a hitter on opening day, they constantly rip Reyes for just about everything.

Now granted I couldn't imagine the likes of Jeter or some of the other all-time great SS (Ozzie Smith, Visquel) acting like Reyes does but still, everybody relax. And to the Phillies, if you don't like the way he acts.....win the game. Winning shuts up everyone.

Thank you for the objectivity. And you're right, it isn't the classiest thing to do, but this whole thing about calling his maturity into it is just ridiculous.

I woke up this morning and checked the standings. The Mets have a two-game lead in the NL East and have won 14 of their last 17 games. The starting pitching has been phenomenal and the corner infielders are mashing the ball (with plenty of speed on the bases in front of them).

THIS is the Mets team I have been waiting to see for six months now. Keep it up!
