So Atlanta didn't work out all that well. Good effort from Johan yesterday, but the bats didn't pick him up.

Home opener on Tuesday. Let's Go Mets!

Its kind of sad that Johan might have been the Met to get the best wood on the ball yesterday.

But what I was happy to see, was some pretty good defense by the Mets, and even when Santana clearly didn't have his best stuff, giving up a bunch of hits, and only 3 k's, he still managed to make it work.

Now the bats just have to start hitting.

Are the Mets going to have to put up 7-10 runs a game in order for the bullpen to secure the win?

I thought sending MOTA to Milwaukee would cure a lot of this late-inning incompetence.

Oh well. Phillies again today. Hope we play better in the final few frames.

The mets need a new manager, look everyone likes ranolph, but man they never have any life late in games against the phils, and you have to point the finger at the manager.

I must admit, I was watching one of the games in Florida last week when Beltran (or maybe it was Wright) hit what was clearly a homerun. The umpires had a quick conference and reversed the call to a double.

So here comes Willie, walking onto the field with an incredulous look on his face and absolutely no passion in his voice or defense of his team. He just stood there and looked at the umpire, as though he knew he had to make an appearance but didn't really want to be there.

Mets won the game, so it wasn't really a terrible offense by the umps. But, damn Willie, act like a manager who will actually stick up for his guys. I think he's a really good baseball man and handles his team pretty well, but every once and while I'd like him to go apeshit like Piniella. This Joe Torre-wannabe stuff has grown tired to this Mets fan.

(They actually beat the Phillies last night, by the way.)

Yea, but, in Willies defense, when the umps called what was clearly a hit by Reyes the other day an out, he went out and didn't give up until the umps reversed the call.

Btw, its fucked up that Pelfrey has a win before Maine.

Hopefully Johnny picks up his first tonight.

Phillie won the first game. Mets won the second.

Mets take game three of the series. Maine pitched six innings, but did not secure the win.

Here comes the Brew Crew. Let's Go Mets!

Crazy game last night. Big W for the Mets.

Hopefully we can pound the Brewers like we did last season.

Nice start by Figueroa (of all people) on Friday. I got to look at the clips briefly on Saturday morning while at work.

Apparently, Johan couldn't stay away from serving up long-balls yesterday. He had some help from fielders committing errors from what I understand. I know he's not perfect, but he'd be a lot closer to it if he could get some help from the other eight when he pitches.

Take game three from the Brewers today! Let's Go Mets!

I don't know if you caught yesterday's game, but it was painful.

What is making me happy though is Delgado. He's finally hitting the other way, instead of always pulling. He's hitting really well, and finally looks comfortable at the plate. Hopefully we can see him do this all year.

  • So what do Met fans think of Johan Santana pretty much saying that the Mets have sucked? (his words, not mine)

"If they boo, that's fine," Santana said. "That's the history they've got from not being so good, I guess."

Santana's not wrong. They boo on every little thing that goes wrong and while some yankee "fans" have booed jeter and rivera, it seems the instance something goes wrong no matter who it is, the boos come at shea stadium. It's some kind of paranoia or neurotic tendency that results in this for these segment of mets fans.

Now I suppose it's part of the territory, New York, high salaries or whatever, but frankly it's stupid. The reality is that Johan Santana is going to make 30-plus starts and a few aren't going to be so great. Every good pitcher sucks from time to time. It's not an excuse. It's just something called reality. I understand booing Tom Glavine on his final start of last season when they collapsed but not sure I get booing Santana after an April start.

I'm not so down with the booing. Sure, boo opponents, and especially people like Mota, or Benitez when they come back. By all means, please boo Chipper Jones. But, I don't like when people boo current Mets. It just brings a bad atmosphere to the team, and the game.

By the way, the last two games made me really upset... Duh.
