Almost picked him up today in my league. Thank god I didn't.

    Oy, my head still hurts...

  • I started Perez against the mediocre Pirates, and benched Pettitte against the slugging Tigers. That pretty much guarantees a 10 K win for Pettitte tonight

Big sersis against the Diamondbacks this weekend. Mets usually play very well against that club, but their pitching staff is solid.

    Maine v Owings
    Figueroa v Webb
    Santana v Haren

I'm excited to see how the Mets handle these three games, even though it's still extremely early in the season.

    Great game last night. :D

That's what we need from Jose and David. Also, way to go Johnny Maine for sticking in their and battling through the sixth. I thought for sure he was done after five, but he came back out and finished it even without his best stuff.

Santana vs. Haren is about as good a matchup as you'll find. Sounds like a Game 7 NLCS matchup. Or maybe Santana vs Webb

ETA: Anyone see Carlos Gomez get drilled in the head with the Ivan Rodriguez throw attempting to steal 2nd? Scary stuff

2/3 from the Dbacks in Phoenix. I'll take it.

Now, on to Chavez Ravine. Let's Go Mets!

My wife and I have booked all our travel for the MSG shows. We'll be in Queens on the 23rd, so we're still expecting to take in the Mets/Mariners game that night. Is everyone else still planning on being there, or have you opted for the free Coldplay show?

Maine was such a steal for the Mets. That was when Omar really dealt like a shrewd GM. Then he got his hands on the moneybags...

Cincy is in for three at Shea starting today. Belisle v Pelfrey, Arroyo v Santana, and Cueto v Perez. I hope The Mouthguard can rebound from Saturday's start at Arizona and get the homestand off to a nice start.

    Let's Go Mets!

Pretty good series for the Mets against the Reds. Bats are beginning to heat up. Reyes starting to hit a little better, Carlos x2 really beginning to heat up. Gotta hope that continues. David Wright though, come on man, get it together.

Big series against the Nationals coming up, if only because if we can sweep, or take 3 out of 4 we can really get ahead of Philly and Atlanta. Its time to beat up on a bad team so that we can try and get into first place and get away from the other teams, so this series is kind of crucial in my opinion. We need some momentum to go out and play the tougher teams.

Ok, I've had enough of Figueroa. Pedro, El Duque, whenever you guys wanna come back...

Last night's game was a great example of the Mets really taking advantage... Uch...

Also, Joe Smith is getting demoted... dumbest move ever. Sure, demote Joe Smith, best reliever on the Mets (aside from Wagner) in favor of Jorge Sosa, who is right now one of the worst relievers on the Mets... Brilliant Omar, brilliant...

what's with figueroa getting all bent out of shape over the Nats dugout antics? It's not like they were doing reyes handshakes and cartwheels in the on-deck circle

I think its a little bit different. Chanting vs. smiling, and slapping handshakes.

Yup. At least the Mets decided to keep Smith up though. That would have been a serious mistake to send him down.

it'd be funny if the mets ever released him and he wound up signing with the nationals.

What's with Ollie lately? He's had a few bad outings in a row. The Joe Smith move is a foolish one. Maybe if his name was Jose Smith or Javier Smith or Juan Smith...

I agree with yosi. Let's get rid of Figueroa at our earliest convenience. Pedro has got to be closer to his return. I mean, didn't they say 6-8 weeks when he got hurt in his FIRST START of the season?

Any of you Mets fans tempted to apply for Letterman tickets that Monday evening in case you-know-who shows up? It's my only chance to see the Mets at Shea...EVER. But I have been a huge fan of Dave's show for as long as I've been a Mets fan.

    Let's Go Mets/Dave & Paul/Pearl Jam!

How about an even split: 2-2?

I didn't see this coming. But how about that Ryan Church guy? He's not been too shabby in RF this season.

  • Looks like Wagner's picked up where Loduca left off:

It was also a case of frustration for the Mets in the locker room after the game. Closer Billy Wagner, who didn't pitch on Thursday, was surrounded by reporters for his post-game comments.

"Can someone tell me why the (expletive) the closer's being interviewed when I didn't even play," Wagner told the reporters.

Wagner then turned and pointed toward the opposite side of the room, in the direction of the locker of Delgado and Beltran.

"You should be talking to those guys over there," Wagner continued. "Oh, they're not there...big shock."

At that point Wagner walked away.

I was there, Beltran discussed the play afterwards. I don't think Delgado did. So I guess Aaron Boone really is Aaron bleeping boone again for the Met fans.

  • to be fair, there isn't much for Delgado to discuss. He crushed a ball, just so happened to be hit right at someone. The fact that Beltran talked after the game makes HillBilly Wagner look like even more of a dick.

I'm pissed off. Castillo could have scored easy on that play if only he wasn't such a lazy motherfucker..

    I hate this team..

Something has to happen to wake up this ballclub ... maybe it is the subway series. they are going thru the motions, throwing the ball around, not thinking in the batters box or on on the basepaths. the high priced players are either always hurt, or not coming thru in the clutch. there is no fire or chemistry on that bench, and it needs to change before it is too late.

simply, willie and staff have to go. they lost control of the the team long ago, and were carried by talent until they got in the way.

for those interested, mike jacobs has 9 homers for the marlins, and kazmir (ugh)
I don't want to be hostile. I don't want to be dismal. But I don't want to rot in an apathetic existance either.

which baffles me because he is always defending his players. whether he's right or wrong in defending the players is another matter but if i was a player and I played for a manager that always had my back, i'd be willing to run through a wall.
