well, we have another lush fan. I did a speed shop in there Friday after work with the help of a very attentive shop assistant.

    I got:

Deep Sleep jelly - I LOVE the smell, but it's just too much trouble. I won't get that again.

Curly wurly shampoo - my hair has never felt so clean and smelled so fab... I love it.

can't remember the name of the conditioner but it's coconut also - it's ok, love the smell too.

Ocean salt facial scrub - WOW! I absolutely love this... my skin feels so soft and is glowing.

Avocado face mask (which I got free) - I just want to eat this. Made my face even softer and more glowing than the scrub.

    My favourite:

Aqua mirabilis (sp?) buffer - this is absolutely fantastic. She advised me against the 'buffy' after I said I don't want anything oily. But this one is just soooo good and another one I really wanna eat.

wow! i'm so proud of you! ;) from what i understand, you're not a girly girl - neither am i! i should get my Lush products in the mail today (never tried them before). i'll have to come on here and give my opinion once i've tried them. :D

:) thank you. Well I'm not girly but I can be when I want to be and I do appreciate pampering :) but these products, ESPECIALLY the aqua mirabilis and the facial scrub... are just beyond belief. I look forward to reading your review :D

considering the fact we got thrashed in the rugby Friday night and that shower DID cheer me up

now im looking at the website. ive always wanted to try the bath bombs but i live in apartments and i just can't bring myself to take a bath.. i know its silly but its just how i am hahaha. i love how when you walk in they always want to slather you with something. i wonder how their hair products work..

Does that mean you have to share a bathroom? Coz if I had to share a bathroom I wouldn't want to be having a bath either, but then I'm not much of a bath girl. I'm all about the shower!
I must admit I'm curious about the hair stuff too. I'm hoping someone else will give them a go and report back. I'm not brave enough to try them myself. I'm a bit particular about hair products. :)

Yep, definitely try it... just the smell of it alone... it's fab.

I got the 'ocean salt' facial scrub and I DEFINITELY recommend this... I'm never gonna be without either of them again :D

ok so here's the thing.. do you see the therapist all the time or was that a one shot deal... i only ask because i used to work in a salon and i can tell you that sometimes people don't reccomend things cuase they are too lazy to show you how they work. im not lying.. the girls i worked iwth just didnt want to be bothered with answering questions about the product. its sad.

if you have broken capilaries on your face i would consult a dermatologist before you do anything. but as someone who has sold the product for a long time and has used every thing in their line i can say that it is very mild.

when you go to seek it out ... ask for samples.. they ALWAYS send samples to the company buying it...so if they say they dont have any they are lying.

    good luck!

That's what I suspected, and that's why I also play ignorant and ask the same questions to all beauticians I talk to! It was my dream job when I was a kid too! :)

Yes, I think I need to find a dermatologist mainly because I noticed two brown spots appearing on my face and I have very pale skin, so it's a bit worrying, after my previous scare.

Also, I believe for broken capillaries (which is the end result of a tendency to redness if I understood it correctly) you can zap them w/ laser if it happens. But I think Jeanie mentioned a cream that worked in her first post, so I might try that as preventive measure.

Ah, unfortunately, they do not offer samples in the UK. I'll give it another try next time I'm in Selfridges. Also, Dermatologica is a specialist brand - I think they only sell it at Space NK. I'll definitely hunt down that exfoliator though! :)

:) Oh well I totally mucked that up then! haha! I used it on my face and it feels pretty good. I used it all over actually and I'm feeling very soft and shiny. :) I haven't done a facial in a while, because of this broken capillary shit that's going on. I don't want to be upsetting it. My skin, particularly on my face, has changed so much. I'm starting to wonder if it's my meds. I am loving the Buffy and the Sympathy is just magical! It doesn't really smell of bananas. It's quite a mild and pleasant smell. The girl actually recommended the Dream Cream for me, because I get psoriasis and upset skin sometimes, but to be honest I prefered the Sympathy. It's just made my skin so soft without being greasy. I'm amazed, because my hands were really getting quite bad and you'd never know it now! I can actually smell just a really faint vanilla fragrance and no banana at all. Yeah, I love this stuff! : )

No worries, my bad for not being clear! I took it for granted that I referred to body not face, as I am super paranoid about the skin on my face. Glad you enjoyed the Buffy exfoliator! :) I like it because it leaves the skin soft, and doesn't seem to scratch it as other products do.

Do you mind if I ask you how you got the broken capillaries? I was always told to be careful in very hot and cold temperatures or extreme weather conditions as my pale skin has a tendency to redness. It might have been an old wives' tale (I think that's the phrase!), though! :)

I am starting to notice some, I think, around my nose and cheeks.

I think meds have an effect on skin - isn't the pill, with a different dosage, also given to fight acne?

My Grandma had psoriasis and found going to the seaside and the sea water itself to be very beneficial.

I'll check out the Sympathy next time I'm off to Lush! :)

no we dont share a bathroom but there is just something icky about a bathroom getting passed down year after year.. ick.

i dont know if i would try the hair stuff simply because i dye my hair so i would hate to ruin that color.

ya it just sounded kinda weird to me.. someone who told you you shouldnt even put your face directly under the shower should be directing you to a dermatologist... its funny cause you do all these things to your skin and then you go to one of these facialists and they give you a panic attack. i used to work with a girl who told me i had rosecia and my skin was so sensative and dont put ANYTHING on it.. and then i went and had a facial outside the salon and she told me my skin was fine. most of them only know the products they work with. its just like makeup artists.. some like warm tones, some like cool and they don't really follow your face. thats why whenever i have a question i just go up to the person who has what i like and ask them.

i will try to hunt down some samples for you as well.. if you want of course. it might be easier for me to get.. or i mght have some already. ill let you know :)

Just want to try it! Be great if we were all together so we could each get something different and then just try each others! :D

haha! :D It probably wasn't you! I'm a shocker for mixing things up!
I can't believe the difference the Buffy made to the texture of my skin. Almost like it changed the flesh underneath or something????? Everything is smoother and much more supple.

No I don't mind you asking. I can say that the "old wives tale" does seem to have some merit and I have heard it too. My inner thermostat is a bit broken these days and I get very hot and red very easily, even if the temperature is quite mild. Seems that since that has been happening the broken capillaries have increased. But then since that has been happening I've also been on some fairly heavy duty medication. Although there does seem to be an heriditary element to it. Most of my Dad's side of the family have them, BUT they also seem to keep quite firm skin otherwise, so they're not very wrinkly and look much younger than they are, so I guess it's a pay off. Broken capillaries but not so much with the wrinkles. :) I have heard that there's a way they can be "collapsed" by injecting saline into them, so I'm considering finding a good cosmetic surgeon and finding out more about it. They're not that bad, I suspect I just focus on them, and I don't really have to buy blusher anymore! ;) But yes, I believe that the pill can effect them as it is a thrombotic (not sure if that's even a word!) but there is a lot of warning about the pill and blood clots, especially if you're a smoker, which I confess I have been lately. :o

One thing I have found VERY effective for psoriasis is Pawpaw ointment.

But my Dad, who gets it quite badly, swears by Organic Coconut Oil.

Wow - I don't look at this thread for a few days and come back to read 3 pages of Lush! Jeanie I love Aquamarina - its a good morning cleanser in the summer. I use herbalism at night. When it turns to winter though, I use Sweet Japanese Girl at night and Babyface in the morning most of the time.

For shower jellies I love The Joy of Jelly - it smells so divine. Its the same scent as the bath bomb called Sex Bomb. I swear if there was enough population in this town I'd open a Lush store - I could totally sell it.

I love the masks - I use Sacred Truth!

Yeah, I guess I forget coz I've been here for such a long time with my own bathroom, but I'm very funny about them in hotels and the like and when I was renting I did scrub the bejeezus out of them with bleach before I'd go in there!

Me too! Hence me wondering about their products. But I really should start thinking about not dying my hair anymore. Well not at the hairdressers anyway. Funnily enough, as I get older, I worry more about the chemicals they use to color your hair and the impact it is having on me AND the environment. My Mum has used Lush's Hennas on her hair for years but that's not really my thing. Anyway, just recently, a girlfriend told me that Lush has a treatment for blonding your hair. So when I got the catalogue I went hunting for it and I've found it. It's called Marilyn Hair Moisturizer and apparently you can use it on dyed hair. AND it lightens your hair naturally. So now I'm thinking I might like to try it. Of course I'd prefer there was someone else prepared to be the "guinea pig" for me! :D

haha! :D Yeah, I'm not sure what happened! Just listening to all this Lush talk sent me off to visit them and the next thing you know we'd converted Helen too! :D
I'm not much for the bath. It's not really my thing so I'm thinking all the bath products won't really be something I would use. And those shower jellies look good but I'm thinking they might be a wee bit too slippery for me. I've got a really bad habit of falling over in the shower anyway, so I've got to be careful not to have any extra slippery in there with me! :o

But those cleansers you mention Jane sound just lovely. I'm thinking the Angels On Bare Skin would be the one for me but of course I'm gonna have to try the others you suggest now too! :D

I'm a huge fan of clinique. :) have a lot of their stuff. Luckily for me, my aunt only uses clinique and she sends me all the sample stuff she gets when she buys it when the bonus offers are on. So I get to try a lot of their range and I eventually go out and buy stuff when I've used it and like it. :)

I didn't go so well with the hemmaroid cream on my eyes, just made em puffier, but maybe I used to much or the wrong brand. :o

yeh, it's possible we just have totally different skin so what i recommend wouldn't necessarily be good for you. If the buffy is good for your skin, yet she warned me off, the aqua mirabilis may not be good for ya... even though I love it :)

I bought a load of stuff for my sister yesterday and I also got myself honey I washed the kids soap... I don't like it though, it just seemed to dry my skin right up. She also gave me a sample of coconut and something shower smoothie. This felt nice going on but literally seemed to leave my skin covered in oil  . She gave me a sample of the ocean scrub too  I tried to tell her I already had it and ask for something different but it was already in the bag.

The face mask the girl gave me last week (I think I'll just go to that girl from now on cos she knew her stuff and what would suit me much better than any of the girls I spoke to yesterday) was made of avocados :D and was called 'crash course... ' something. It's brilliant though. Must use it again tonight cos it goes off on the 1st :o . How frequent can/should you use those things?

I was still convinced I wouldn't go in cos of the smell until you did... so it's all down to you Jeanie :)

I got the deep sleep shower jelly last week and, while it smells beautiful, it really is way too much trouble and I end up losing most of it down the plug hole

yeh, it's possible we just have totally different skin so what i recommend wouldn't necessarily be good for you. If the buffy is good for your skin, yet she warned me off, the aqua mirabilis may not be good for ya... even though I love it : )

I bought a load of stuff for my sister yesterday and I also got myself honey I washed the kids soap... I don't like it though, it just seemed to dry my skin right up. She also gave me a sample of coconut and something shower smoothie. This felt nice going on but literally seemed to leave my skin covered in oil : eek: . She gave me a sample of the ocean scrub too  I tried to tell her I already had it and ask for something different but it was already in the bag.

The face mask the girl gave me last week (I think I'll just go to that girl from now on cos she knew her stuff and what would suit me much better than any of the girls I spoke to yesterday) was made of avocados : D and was called 'crash course... ' something. It's brilliant though. Must use it again tonight cos it goes off on the 1st :o . How frequent can/should you use those things?

Actually she was gung ho to sell me the aqua mirabilis but I wanted to try the buffy. and I'm glad I did. :) But I will go with the aqua next time and compare them. :)
Ah bugger on the other sales girl! Not what you need at all! I don't about how often your supposed to use a mask. My understanding was once a week, but that doesn't leave you much time does it?
Truthful answer is I really don't know Hels. :o
    NOPE!!!

haha! :D We're as bad as each other now! And besides, I only went in coz all the other girlies were raving about the place! :D

Yeah, that's what I envisage if I get it. I think I'd prefer shower gel or soap. The jelly sounds nice, but I can see me breaking a leg or something with it! :o

:) well if she was trying to sell ya the aqua it must be good. Actually I think the girl I got last week was manager or something cos she really knew her stuff and tried to sell me as much as possible. It's lucky I didn't have much time :D

That shower smoothie gel thing I got yesterday IS nice but like I said it's very very oily and I just don't like oily stuff :o

:o I went back again Thursday night Hels and spent another $60 bucks!

Got the Baby face cleanser, the Sweet Japanese Girl cleanser, some of that mask can't remember the name of it and that Lemon cutical cream. And she gave me some coconut body wash and a small sample of coal face to try.

I tried both the cleansers yesterday and they were good. When I can be bothered I'll give the face mask a go. Anyway, I did ask how often I should use the mask, because I remember you asking that and she said 3 times a week if I liked or more or less depending. So I guess it's up to you how often you use it. I'll give it a go and see how often I can be bothered. :)

Oh and the lemon cutical cream is DEVINE!! Well it smells DEVINE anyway! :D

Ooh! Hels! Thanks for posting!! I just remembered I've still got the mask in the fridge and I haven't tried it yet!! :o

Best I be getting onto it tonight too! :)

And don't throw yours out!!! The girl I spoke to said that it's a best before date, but some people find that it's ok past that date, SO maybe do it tonight and maybe tomorrow or the next day? I mean if you can be bothered and it's still smelling ok and looking ok, I'd give it another couple of goes this week and try to use it up.

I tried that charcoal face scrub stuff today in the shower and I think I prefer it to all the other cleansers. The baby face and sweet japanese girl leaves a film on my face. I don't mind that when it happens with the Buffy on my butt but not on my face so much!! I also used the coconut body wash stuff today. I like it! But I'm still loving the Sympathy for skin body lotion and the Lemon Flutter cuticle cream the best! :)

hmm... maybe I'll give it another couple of days... although I did have it out of the fridge a good bit over the weekend... cos I brought it home thinking my sister and niece might use some up... but they didn't.

have you tried the ocean salt facial scrub yet? It's amazing... and no film :)

Do you not find the coconut body wash stuff to be very oily?

It should be ok. I mean use it tonite and check it out before you use it again.
If it smells funny or looks different, I'd throw it out.

After talking to the girl, we decided that the ocean salt facial scrub might be no good for my skin. It gets irritated pretty easily. Used to have to be really careful when I was surfing, coz I'd get reef rash.

I used the body wash on my arms and legs where the skin has been really dry and I found it a lot less oily than the bohemian soap or the buffy. I need a little bit of moisture. The best thing about it was it didn't run down into the bath and make everything slippery! :)

It's funny how we like different stuff huh? :)
    NOPE!!!
