Chris dying in a car accident

there's a little more to it than him simply dying as the result of an auto accident.

    Interesting theory about the Sopranos

    Tony was killed....

in fact, the ending was genius if you've paid attention to the show or
    are
just a fan of well developed well thought out plots that all tie
    together
and have the memory of a champ to remember it all

the ending was simple, he got killed, but let me tell yall why and
    explain
in detail... There was 3 people in the room total who had a reason to
    kill
    tony.....

the two black guys, they were paid before to kill tony but he was only
    shot
in the ear, this was in one of the earlier seasons,

also in the earlier seasons, the trucker who was sitting at the bar
    stool,
who the camera kept focusing in on, is Nikki leotardo, Phil Leotardos
nephew, he was in one of the early season episodes where Phil and Tony
    have
    a sit down....

heres where the genius comes in....

When tonys walking in the diner, you see the camera focus on him, then it
switches to his perspective, and you see him looking @ the booth hes
    gonna
    sit at...

then the camera switches back to tonys face, then it once again switches
    to
his perspective, and it shows him looking @ the door and looking @ the
people come in..... Everytime the door opens the Chimes sound.......
Carmela walks in, Chimes, AJ walks in Chimes, this when Meadows parallel
parking, still trying to get inside the restaurant....

at this point the camera switches back to the trucker who goes in the
    bathroom......

Then it goes to a scene where meadow finally parks and starts running in
    the
    diner....

the doors about to open, Tony looks up....

    and No Chimes......................

    No Music............

    Everything just goes black...............

In one of the early episodes of the sopranos, tonys talking with bobby
    about
what it must feel like to die..

Bobby says "at the end, you probably dont hear anything, everything just
    goes black"

part of that was revisited in the second to last episode during the last
seconds of it, when tonys about to go to sleep and he flashes back to
    the
memory of him and bobby on the boat... "You probably dont hear anything
    everything just goes black"

so in the end, the Journey song was playing, the chimes on the door
    sounded
but when meadow came in, the guy in the trucker hat came out and killed
    tony...

its the reason you aint hear, or see shit when he died.... it was from
    his
perspective.... and everything went black, then the credits rolled

Everytime someone walked in the door it seemed like Tony reached for something in his lap...

But there are some holes in your theory. The "trucker" as you say is not sitting on the bar stool, he's sitting in the corner and you cant make out his face because of his hat. The “plain looking” guy sitting at the dinner stool looks over at Tony at least once... you're telling me Tony isn’t going to recognize him? And the black dudes? If the viewer is supposed to recognize them why didn’t Tony? The whole thing is stupid... he’s just going to sit there with his family as all these “threats” are in the dinner.

And BTW how did they all know he was going to be there. If you remember the scene with AJ and Camila it was a last minute change in the dinner plans. If you are going to kill him, kill him... if not then don’t. This whole "lights out" theory is a weak way to end a series... end a season, maybe but this was just weak writing like most of the last season and the short one before it.

I heard a TV critic on the radio today saying that the theories about Phil's nephew and the two black guys were not right. Supposedly HBO was saying they weren't the same characters. I can't verify any of that. Its just what this guy was saying on the radio.

I like the touch of them eating onion rings as opposed to some Italian food. The original family came from Italy. The generation that runs things now may keep some of the customs of The Old Country, but they really were "made in America" and Chase has tried to show this throughout the show's life. He has tried to show that basically they are the average American family that goes through some of the same old shit just with the mafia angle attached.

    Fucking Journey man.

it was season one and wasn't one of those black guys killed during the botched hit on tony?

edit: just watched that episode and one of them does get killed.

No shit. Did you even read my post? I was replying to what I heard previously regarding spoilers. You don't think hearing he dies in a car accident a couple months back is a spoiler? Oooooh, sorry I didn't say he was in an accident AND Tony chokes him. You know, I did hear that too, but didn't feel the need to post it. Sorry I didn't pass the tests of Captain Obvious over here.

its the reason you aint hear, or see shit when he died.... it was from

    So many holes....

first, prove to me those actors are the same people. I've read this too, but have yet to see PROOF. Just imaginative speculation.

Second, there WERE chimes when Meadow enters the restaurant, that is why Tony looks up before the end. Actually, just read this again, and whoever created this contradicted themself about the chimes.

Third, Phil and Tony never had a 'sit down' in the earlier season. Phil didn't come on the show until season 5, and him and Tony didn't really start going at it until 6A.

Fourth, what does his conversation with Bobby in the 1st episode of this season have to do with it? It was brought up in the Blue Comet again to reference Bobby's death, and the irony of it all!

Lastly, all of the points brought up are a complete stretch to conclude that Tony was shot at the end. The most logical meaning to it all was showing the tension that this life brings, the uncertainty of it all, the ever present threat of death (or imprisonment), etc. Tony can go out in any number of ways, all equally valid and that is the point. This life he has chosen has consequences, one of which is that neither you nor your family is safe. Tony was at peace with his family in this scene, but it was WE who were paranoid. For once more than Tony, and that is the genius of the show. WE were sucked into the world one final amazing and complete time. When the screen went black, WE were whacked from their life through the tv, and we didn't see it coming. Pure genius.

Every time the door opened Tony kept reaching for something under the table... he seemed stressed and not at "peace" so to say... and brilliance? If you want to call cop -out writing brilliance go ahead, I call it sloppy and lazy just like the rest of the season... and the audience got “whacked”? That is so cheesy, where did you hear that? Entertainment Tonight?

Every time the door opened Tony kept reaching for something under the table...

Bullshit. I just watched it again, he's not 'reaching' for anything. The only reaching is you with your excuses to why it sucked.

he seemed stressed and not at "peace" so to say...

Again bullshit. He didn't act out of the ordinary with Carm, made idle chit chat, browses the menu, smiled at AJ, touched his hand for Christ's sake. The ONLY stress he showed with the 5 or so seconds he mentioned the federal indictments. Other than that...come on! Nothing out of the ordinary. Just a normal family outing, finally all being together, AJ happy and Meadow talking marriage.

and brilliance? If you want to call cop -out writing brilliance go ahead, I call it sloppy and lazy just like the rest of the season...

Bullshit. I'll give it to you that it's your opinion, but you obviously haven't been watching the same show as I if you think this is 'crap'. Maybe you just get a hard on whenever there's blood or a pair of tits and you don't realize the underlying significance and symbolism put into much of the show.
and the audience got “whacked”? That is so cheesy, where did you hear that? Entertainment Tonight?

Maybe cheesy to you, but a very good analogy. I think Chase was giving that scene to the audience more so than any other. I've read this explanation elsewhere, so I give it to you that it's not my original thought, but I found it compelling enough to repeat. If anything, the Entertainment Tonight's of the world would cater to YOU 'lowest common denominator' thirst for the simple ending, i.e. killed, arrested, heart attack. People nowadays want instant gratification, they don't want to think and they revel in simplicity and lazy thought.

    Worst. Episode. Ever.

I like the "We were whacked" angle that you propose though. It was the only way the show could end. Tony getting killed was way too predictable and a jail finale has been done before. I never really cared for this show too much but I still tuned in last night for some reason.
