This is a different Yank team and attitude than I have ever seen.
Loved seeing Tex hold the bat in the air all the way down to first base.

Wow,..best record in baseball. & Ya know...dont really think they even played their best ball this weekend.
Lets keep it rolling. 10 in a row and Girardi will get the "Swish Hawk!!"

My daughter comes in heckling me about the Yankees sweep of the Sox, I had to tell her go to your room things are bad enough as it is. She leaves smiling but I'm smiling tonight from a well earned and much needed win.

PS. For her birthday She wanted a ARod jersey of I said NO but I did say maybe to a Jeter one though.

That has to suck that your daughter is a Yanks fan.

I'll admit it, we lost, we lost bad. Like you though, I was smirking at the loss for them today and a win for us.

i think the 5th starter only has to go 9 more times this year?

Mitre has about run his course perhaps that guy from the padres gaudin? could get a shot. He can't do much worse.

I expected a loss yesterday, not from some silly hangover or anything, but just because

    1. you don't win em all

    2. Mitre was pitching. the guy stinks.

It's the next 2 games that will be a good gauge for how the stretch run will shape up. AJ & CC, no halladay, and now, no Rios. They should win those 2

The Yankees had that game won before Carlson threw his first pitch. I even said so to myself when I saw he was coming out in the eighth.

I wonder the last time the yanks were 30 games over?
Can you imagine what the team would be like if Arod was really hitting.

Gotta keep rolling. Could really burry boston this weekend.

Three years ago, they finished at 97-65 and were at least 30 over for the final 20 games of the regular season.

I feel pretty damn good about the division. It was great watching them win last night. They were jumping on Beckett's fastball.

Could CC be in for a Cy young award this year? Lots of talk about jeter and the MVP award, but besides others in his league Tex on his own team has some very good numbers a case could be made for too!

happy to get the win, but another lackadaisical night in the field.

    a-rod is killing the ball.

yea it was nice to smack beckett around. they put up some stats against him last night that beckett has never seen in his career. 5 hrs. 5 innings in a row scoring a run....

btw....love your photo. Diorama! a classic record.

He's been working on a new batting stance with Kevin Long. Where his legs are further apart. Like Albert Pujols.

Not sure I understand the rationale behind Girardi having Swisher sacrifice with first and second and nobody out in a one-run game. I don't think you do that with a high on-base percentage guy. Oh well, it must be good to be second-guessing things like that.

I don't think that was Girardi's idea. He looked REALLY steamed in the dugout.

I basically said to myself rally killed when he squared to bunt. Like you said he has a high OBP. And the pitcher was sort of wild. And also getting hit. Even the final out was hard hit. I still don't know why Swish attempted at it as it was ball. Just cause you're bunting doesn't mean you can't take a pitch.

I think it was. He said after the game that Swisher is a good bunter. I think he was more steamed that Swisher couldn't execute it.

The dodgers bolstered their team picking up Jon Garland and Jim Thome yesterday. I mention this because if the yankees reach their ultimate goal they may have to play them.

I wonder why there was no interest from the Yankees in Jon Garland. Seems he woudl be a better fit for the 5 hole then what they have.

Do they really need anyone better in the 5 hole? Sure it would've been nice, but your #5 starter won't get used in the playoffs except in the bullpen (I sure don't want Garland in the bullpen in the playoffs). It's not even a guarantee Garland would be any better than Mitre either.

Maybe they did but remember it's tough to get waiver claims when you have the best record in baseball since players have to go unclaimmed through every other team before the Yankees get a chance to make a claim.

the yanks would have had no chance to get any of the recent players that have been moved around the past few days...and honestly, more worried about the other team from LA
