Kind bummed to see Cervelli go down. I like the dude & think he has a great and exciting attitude and enthusiasm to him. But what ya gonna do? Can't keep 3 catchers.

He'll be back in six weeks or so with the September callups. Plus Molina is a free agent after this year.

I gues it's better for him to go down and play every day,. but i think he's already better than Molina. Hopefully he's with the team all year next year, and he becomes the Posada to posadas Girardi. A 70/30 split

There's another catcher that's tearing it up in the minors in Jesus Montero. He hits for more power than Cervelli.

Nice pitching from the kids on Old Timer's Day. Haladay shut down Boston so we're back within 1 game in the AL East.

amazing what happens when you develop a rhythm, don't get into many deep counts and attack the zone as opposed to nibbling.

Joe Girardi makes a promise to the club and fans....
Yanks win 10 games in a row and he will get the "Swish Hawk" hair cut.

    I like the attitude!
    &
btw...how nasty are you Phil Hughes?

Aceves now 6-1. He and Hughes have been huge out of the pen.

I'm excited to see the boys winning these close games. Another one tonight. Sox down 6-2 to to Rangers= so things could be all tied up at the end of the night.

    really man?

    sadly, he's fine.

if you look at the numbers behind the numbers, he's making just as much contact and judging the strike zone just as well as he usually does, he's just not getting the balls to fall in ... he may have lost a touch of power, but overall, just a small stretch (125 ABs) where he's been unlucky.

if you're in a roto league, this would be a great time to play up the injury and try and acquire him.

    Sadly, I was right ... he's fine.

In the past 30 days, he's hit .286 with 8 home runs, 19 RBI, OPS near 1.000 ... and even stole 4 bases.

I put my money where my mouth is and traded for him in one of my my roto leagues, and as a Red Sox fan I feel dirty ... so very, very dirty.

Tough call on Hughes...but his fastball was elevating a bit. I thought Coke would make the play.
Even in defeat lately, I like what I see from this team

we need to get a starter from somewhere today. Seattle are crazy that they would want Hughes or Joba for Washburn. I like Jared, but come on

    Ill take Roy though :)

They took Hughes out because of his pitch count, 35-40 seems to be the maximum for him. They took him out at 39 pitches the other day against the A's.

I'm cool with that. I know hes not ready but would have prefered to see austin jackson just to see the dude play. as long as all these guys are outa here when my boy gardner comes back!

I could see Hairston taking Ransom's spot with Ransom going back to the minors. Of course we're only four-five weeks away from rosters expanding.

Nice move to get Hairston. He can play just about anywhere for them and he can pinch run. This will let some guys get the occasional day off.

I really thought they would get an arm.........either a 5th starter or a bullpen guy, but I'm happy they didn't give away any top kids like the old Yanks would have. I guess they can still make a move for a pitcher. They would just have to pass through waivers for a deal to happen.

I hope so. Ransom blows. And , well aware I'm in the minority here, I like Shelley Duncan. He's never gonna be an All Star, but he's much better coming off the bench than anyone else they've had this year

They sucked, but so did the managing. No offense to John Danks, but Girardi managed too far with the book by keeping Damon and Matsui on the bench and putting right-handed hitters Cody Ransom and Jerry Hairston in the lineup. I get resting one, but not two, especially when this was a game you would have liked to win with Buehrle and Halladay pitching against them the next two games. But 20 games over .500 in August, I'll take.

Nice work by the Sox, they have a nice four-man rotation going once they get Peavy in the fold.

Frank Wren looks really good letting Smoltz walk during the offseason. It was very unpopular here in Atlanta, but it was the right move.

I'm very happy the did it because he looked really good getting beat around in a Red Sox uniform.

God we need Burnett to pitch a gem tomorrow.

also i hate the new stadium. I hate that they play in a launching pad.

haha, melk's shot would have been out in the old stadium, and same with posada's.

Great weekend to be a yankee fan!

I know the sox are a better team then what we saw this weekend, but that won't stop me from loving the yankees storming their little nation and making them out bitch

Hope we can keep the momentum up. Still a lot of the season left to go.
