you mean like when the Yankees signed Jose Contreras, and Theo destroyed a hotel room? When Theo booked every room in the hotel besides the one Contreras himself was staying in, to keep the Yankees away? Yup, he signed with the Yankees anyway
didnt hear that one and here i thought Theo was too busy winning world series and threatening to leave.

I'm sure it's useless and annoying to anyone who just wants to talk Yankee Baseball.
when have you had time to talk yankee baseball? between making up facts and outright lying about sox players?

please, give me one made up stat or outright lie. I can give you 15 sources for any and every story or stat I've posted.
  • Let's start with manny, and the "I'm not sure which knee hurts so let's MRI both"

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/45971-manny-ramirez-and-the-mystery-of-the-vanishing-knee-injury

    http://browniepoints.mlblogs.com/archives/2008/07/papi_in_the_house_manny_being.html

    http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2008/07/31/so_manny_memories/

Then things started to happen. On a night when the Celtics were playing the Lakers in the NBA Finals, Manny slapped Kevin Youkilis, igniting a dugout scuffle. On June 29, Ramirez attacked 64-year-old traveling secretary Jack McCormick when the club official said he might have difficulty satisfying Manny's exorbitant, last-minute ticket request. The club sanctioned Ramirez privately, but there was no suspension. A week later, manager Terry Francona sent Manny up to pinch hit against Yankees ace Mariano Rivera. It was Manny's day off, and the slugger appeared totally disinterested, looking at three strikes without removing the bat from his shoulder.

    http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3508405&name=gammons_peter&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fespn%2fblog%2findex%3fentryID%3d3508405%26name%3dgammons_peter

Everyone in the clubhouse knows the names. Joba Chamberlain (twice), Felix Hernandez (twice), Edinson Volquez, Justin Verlander -- pitchers that Manny Ramirez didn't feel quite right to face, be it a knee, a hamstring, his contract or the pitcher's velocity, and those he left for someone else in the Red Sox "family" to face
  • Jose Contreras, and the trashed hotel room:

    http://espn.go.com/mlb/columns/klapisch_bob/1482819.html
Quite the contrary, the Yankees said. It was the Red Sox who, if they didn't break industry rules, went to bizarre extremes to ensure a negotiating edge. Bomber officials said Boston's entourage booked every available hotel room in Managua, Nicaragua, where talks were being held -- hoping to monopolize Contreras and his agent Jaime Torres long enough to sway the pitcher to Fenway.

It didn't work. As Yankees GM Brian Cashman put it, "we were told by both the player and the agent that they wanted this negotiation concluded before Christmas, and that Contreras wanted to be a Yankee. Obviously, we're happy to have him."

Upon learning of Contreras' decision, Boston GM Theo Epstein reportedly broke a window and a door in the same Managua hotel. Team spokesman Kevin Shea denied the incident ever occurred. But, according to the New York Daily News, Epstein broke a chair during the winter meetings in Nashville after realizing free agent Edgardo Alfonzo had chosen the Giants over the Red Sox.

    http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2006/11/16/now_were_talkin/

It was just four years ago that the Sox were outbid by the Yankees in the infamous, furniture-busting Jose Contreras sweepstakes at the Hotel Campo Real in Nicaragua. You might remember Lucchino saying, "The Evil Empire extends its tentacles even into Latin America." The comment triggered new levels of hostility in the ancient rivalry.

Does anyone think that Joba (assuming he can return) will pitch anywhere but the bullpen for the rest of this season? I'd be shocked if he started a game before spring training 09.

Yanks are 4-2 since Matsui's return.

While checking out the standings today it looks like 3 of the International League Playoff teams will be Scranton (Yanks), Durham (Rays), and Pawtucket (Sox). I think that's good news for all 3 of the parent teams. I'm hoping Scranton plays a couple of games here against the Bulls. Maybe a Phil Hughes vs David Price pitching matchup.

IT would be tough for average Joes to beat a couple of Yankees at baseball, but slamming them in a game of beer pong was no sweat. Last week, Jason Giambi and Joba Chamberlain were celebrating their win against the Kansas City Royals at Southern Hospitality, on Second Avenue, when a table of fans challenged them to a game of the college drinking sport. Our spy said, "The fans gave them a beating. Toward the end Chamberlain and Giambi got really competi tive, but it wasn't enough."

I know the offense has been hitting well as of late. But I think Nady should br batting 5th behind A-Rod. Or maybe have Alex at 3rd and Abreu 4th.

I like the idea of nady 5th. You lose the lefty/righty/lefty combo of Abreu/ARod/Giambi, which makes it difficult for managers to maneuver their bullpens late, but I think it's worth the tradeoff, with Nady being such a better hitter than Giambi. If Cano ever gets his act together, maybe he could hit 5th, to keep that L/R/L thing going. Not gonna happen this year though

It starts tonight. The season is on the line.

Wakefield is 9-17 vs. the Yanks over his career and is coming off the DL. This sounds like a good way to start the series. Gotta execute and hit the baseball though.

  • A-Rod rising to the big game occasion again!
0-2 with a fat K and a nice double play. Not to mention the play he could have made that lead to a run.
Did you just hear that A-Rod double play stat Kay just mentioned. Damn

the K was the ump calling a ball a strike. And he was playing deep on weak grounder. Even they said there was nothing he could do. Damn umpire squeezing Pettitte.

    pettitte got squeezed.

    giambi pulled a chuckle-head.

  • perfect ending for a perfect fucking asshole. Watch, tomorrow will be a blowout one way or the other, and he'll hit one to the courthouse to make it 12-4
  • I am as big a Yanks fan as the next guy...but seriously nobody can tell me these guys have ANY heart. Do they ever look enthusiastic?? Do they ever look like the want to win? I'm not even bothered by it anymore bc i don't want to see a team like this in the playoffs. They don't deserve a damn thing.

wouldn't matter if Mickey Mantle was hitting behind him. He's soft. He did it last year, because it was a contract year. I look forward to him delivering in the clutch in 2017. When he came up with the bases loaded, i gegged him to whii and give someone else a shot.

I can't disagree with anything you said. It's like they automatically stop hitting when someone gets too second base
  • some gallows humor---I was listening to the radio for a bit, and John & Susan welcomed a recently returned from space astronaut. Garrett something, he's been on Colbert a few times. So Sterling asks him, matter of factly:

So, while you're up there, and worries about not making it back home?

The guy was taken aback a bit, and responded about how they work pretty hard to make sure that doesn't happen

But that wasn't the only year he hit. I think once something becomes magnified. It seems like he's done it for his whole career. Johnny Damon hit 2 solo homers today. If that was Alex you would be on him for that also. I just don't understand the hatred for Alex. In other message boards. Like he's killed someone or ran over children with his car. I would understand if he never did anything. He could be 20 for his next 20 in these situations. Then go into another slump and then he's garbage again. It's not like he wants to make outs.
