I'm sure they are. What's wrong with the Yanks. Hitting into too many dp's. That Greinke is pitching well.

I missed the game last night. Looks like Wang hung the sox out to dry.

The baby bombers are in town with Scranton to play the Bulls so I went to see them last night. Darrell Rasner pitched very well (6 innings, 4 hits 1 run). Edwar Ramirez (2 innings, 3 ks) and Jose Veras (2 out 2 run HR allowed in the 9th) finished out the 7-3 win.

Shelley Duncan looks like he really doesn't belong down there. He crushed a HR and looked suprisingly slick at 1B with a lot of balls hit his way.

Dissapointed I didn't get to see the Rays top prospect Evan (don't call me Eva) Longoria because he was called up yesterday. I don't expect to see him down here again.

Looks like Joe G. is going through his first big period of criticism over a coaching decision. It may not have mattered, but there is no way I would have pitched to Manny. I know Moose was more comfortable with 1B open and some "wiggle room", but after the moon shot he gave up to him earlier, there was no "wiggle room".

Scranton pounded out 21 hits last night. Shelley Duncan hit another HR. I really like that Brett Gardner kid. He hit his 3rd triple last night (in only 6 games). Between him, Duncan, and Jason Lane (5 HR) it looks like the Yanks will be fine if an OF goes down with and injury.

regarding mussina, i think his first three starts have been somewhat decent. he's not going to pitch like he did monday everytime but as long as he keeps the yankees in the game and occassionally cruises, i think we'll live with that at his point in his career.

  • NY Yankees unearth buried Red Sox jersey from new stadium

AP - Apr 13, 3:23 pm EDT 1 of 3 MLB Gallery NEW YORK (AP)—A construction worker’s bid to curse the New York Yankees by planting a Boston Red Sox jersey in their new stadium was foiled Sunday when the home team removed the offending shirt from its burial spot.

After locating the shirt in a service corridor behind what will be a restaurant in the new Yankee Stadium, construction workers jackhammered through the concrete Sunday and pulled it out.

The team said it learned that a Sox-rooting construction worker had buried a shirt in the new Bronx stadium, which will open next year across the street from the current ballpark, from a report in the New York Post on Friday.

Yankees President Randy Levine said team officials at first considered leaving the shirt where it was.

“The first thought was, you know, it’s never a good thing to be buried in cement when you’re in New York,” Levine said. “But then we decided, why reward somebody who had really bad motives and was trying to do a really bad thing?”

On Saturday, construction workers who remembered the employee, Gino Castignoli, phoned in tips about the shirt’s location.

“We had anonymous people come tell us where it was, and we were able to find it,” said Frank Gramarossa, a project executive with Turner Construction, the general contractor on the site.

It took about five hours of drilling Saturday to locate the shirt under 2 feet of concrete, he said.

On Sunday, Levine and Yankees CEO Lonn Trost watched as Gramarossa and foreman Rich Corrado finished the job and pulled the shirt from the rubble.

In shreds from the jackhammers, the shirt still bore the letters “Red Sox” on the front. It was a David Ortiz jersey, No. 34.

Trost said the Yankees had discussed possible criminal charges against Castignoli with the district attorney’s office.

“We will take appropriate action since fortunately we do know the name of the individual,” he said.

A woman who answered the phone at Castignoli’s home in the Bronx on Sunday said he was not there.

A spokesman for Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson said Sunday he did not know whether any criminal charges might apply.

Levine said the shirt would be cleaned up and sent to the Jimmy Fund, a charity affiliated with Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

“Hopefully the Jimmy Fund will auction it off and we’ll take the act that was a very, very bad act and turn it into something beautiful,” he said.

it ended right after midnight, with a loss :(

It would have gone faster but I think Dice K had walked about six and, who was starting for us, Hughes? He walked about four. I was flipping back and forth btwn two other things on TV.

It took 2 hrs to go 5 innings though.

re: Betemit...........you gotta be kidding me. Oh well, Jeter should be back and Gonzalez has been solid. Anyone brought up from Scranton? I'm thinking Duncan.

Edit: I see Moeller was called up and will be behind the plate tonight. This makes sense with Posada unable to throw. It's a little risky with no days off and only 1 healthy catcher. Jeter is back tonight and Gonzalez gets the start at 2B for the slumping Cano and Ensberg replaces Giambi at 1B. IPK on the mound.

Edit 2: I see Molina was hurt last night. Boy, you can tell I didn't stay up to watch the whole game. The boys are banged up. Now if we could just get the healthy ones to start hitting.
    Brian
  • not only that it's contagious, but with Posada and Jeter questinable for the field, and Molina out, they don't have room on the roster to just wait for him to get better in a week.
  • Too bad that Cervelli got his wrist busted in spring training. This would be the perfect chance to see what he's got. The other prospect they have, Montero, isn't ready, (just 18 or 19) but he's the guy I expect to be groomed by Posada in a few years.

Also, my man Albaladejo has been called up, replacing Joba while he tends to his dad.

I can't believe our bullpen just gave up a 5 run lead & 3 HR's to Tampa Bay!!!!!!!
    =(

Robbie Cano to the rescue......just hit a pinch hit HR as I was typing.

cervelli wouldn't have been ready anyway. he's never played above single-A, and it usually takes catchers a long time to develop. 2010 at the earliest.

montero is raking at single-A charleston. 18-51 (.353), 2 HR, 12 RBI. his bat could get him to the majors pretty quickly, but not if they want him to remain at catcher.

i missed the postgame... what's the word on kennedy's injury?
  • yea!!!!!!!

Did Kennedy get injured last night??????

He had a ball hit him in the side but it does not look like anything that will cause him to miss a start.

    Probably hurt like hell though.

Thoughts are with Joba and his dad now. :(

Nice to see Cano get the big hit last night. He has been struggling. I heard the Sterling call on the radio this morning. He is so bad that you almost look forward to hearing him make a fool of himself. Its like the car accident that you can't turn away from.

I went to bed when it was 7-2, but I thought Kennedy pitched very well.

Hopefully last night was the start of a hot streak for A-Rod. I just traded for him in my fantasy league. I had to give up Brad Penny and Jeff Francoeur.

I can't believe we are playing the Sawx in a Wednesday/Thursday 2 game set. What is up with these 2 game sets??

Great job by Pettitte tonight. He got hit pretty good in the first few innings, but last 7 strong innings. That helps a lot when they are in this stretch of playing 21 straight days.
