    Yeah, THAT's a really objective website and source of information. Totally balanced. :rolleyes:

    Give me a break.
    No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus got written well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, I will use the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply because all sources derive from hearsay accounts.

    Somebody want to fill this guy in on how history gets written in general?
    NON-CHRISTIAN SOURCES

    Virtually all other claims of Jesus come from sources outside of Christian writings. Devastating to the claims of Christians, however, comes from the fact that all of these accounts come from authors who lived after the alleged life of Jesus. Since they did not live during the time of the hypothetical Jesus, none of their accounts serve as eyewitness evidence.
    Uhm........again, somebody wnt to fill this guy in on how history got written in general, especially during that era?

    Ridiculous, but it goes to show just how deep-seated one's contempt can go, and yet, when anyone who IS a Christian tries to speak up, they're labelled as "blind" or "intolerant" or "unenlightened."

    I'm working on proving that Santa Claus is a myth (your tax dollars at work). When my theory proves correct, millions of children are going to cry around the world and Christmas will cease to exist ever again...

    I'm by no means a religious person, but I think your missing the point of these stories..

    why dont you fill us in? ive been dying for someone to make the historical case for Jesus. So go for it. it's allegedly his birthday so try divine inspiration

    It's called progress. Religion doesn't change, so now there are a bunch of outdated ideas religious people swear by, which causes problem. Fortunately, there are some religious people who see that progress is important.

    Your mindset (or at least exhibited through your posts) is that you have absolute contempt to actually consider what I or anyone might have to say as far as offering up proof for a historical Jesus.

    And no, this isn't a backing down because I've got nothing to offer. This is a backing down because sometimes, it just isn't worth the effort. This would be one of those times, seeing as how it IS Jesus' birthday, and I've got a few things to attend to right now.

    As I said to Ahnimus, I'll say to you: I'm sorry if you've had some negative experience with Christianity that seems to have soured you so much on the religion and its believers, I'm sorry if I seem less than gracious, but I don't see anything that demonstrates an actual willingness to engage in a real discussion about the issue.

    I believe in scientific progress but not at the expense of the bible. The bible should be pounded into peoples heads from an early age.

    and if you read my posts, i maintain a belief that the man existed. i did not take a position on this subject until much later. i was curious what the board thought. it is not an attack to question. i have no contempt for Jesus. Happy Birthday to the dude.

    People don't take the time to dig. If they did dig beneath the surface of what they are taught in sunday school they wouldn't proclaimm in big bold letters things like today IS Jesus's birthday. Not even close.

    Dont confuse them with the facts now. Same thing with Easter. Pagan holiday determined to be the day of the crucifixtion a full 323 years after the death of Jesus. A little reading on the emperor Constantine would be in order.

    Yes, I realize Christian traditions have pagan roots. I'm not going to get overly caught up in the roots of the traditions when the fruit is far more important.

    There's no anger over here. Just a realization of what the real point is, and a hope that more people would come to see it, or at least respect it.
