read it again, this time try to understand it's point of view. start with the epistles of paul... romans particularly... then read his others and look for parallel scriptures... then refer back to the old testament. all this, mind you, while revolving around what you read in the gospels - the focal point.

are you going to hell? that's a question you should ask yourself...

but if you want to insist and say, "well, hey i'm never going to believe in God even if i'm dying so might as well get it out of the way.... will i be going to hell then after i die?" well, i hate to be mr. obvious but i think we both know the scriptures well enough to know what the Bible says about that.

    you're ill.

you're concepts of God are very minimal and simplistic... it comes to no surprise being that you're an atheist.

Actually, I don't believe in god and therefore I don't really have concepts of god. Everything I say here about god, I don't believe in it and those definitely aren't the reasons why I don't believe in him.

But if I further hypothesize, that all the good characteristics would comes from god as well.

I'm interested in the concept of god and in religion, though.

the concept of, or the concepts of? there are many of them.

the biblical concepts are deep and intricate.... that's why so many get confused of this characterized God depicted in the bible. i stress the importance though that if you read the bible for yourself and study it's context you'll understand. cause honestly it's a bit tiresome trying to explain it to 2 or 3 people, or even 1.

i'm not asking you to believe in it... just begin to read it like you would another book. and try understand it's point of view... if it has any.

As I said before I read the bible, more than once. And I read several analyses of "god", from different perspectives... And I read two analyses of the bible.

I could summerise the bible in 4 or 5 lines. And that's all I got from it, if you found more in it, good for you.

then i assume you've concluded with those perspectives. i don't have a problem with it. i just have a problem with you having a problem with my perspective. if you ask me all the questions that you ask i would question if you really read the bible. i could answer them for you, but it's a slow and long process. allbeit if you've concluded with your own perspective as the right one then what are we still doing here?

Cool, I don't believe in it and I have difficulty understanding how anyone can. But I don't have a problem with it, unless you want it taught in science class or insist that it's based on science.

I honestly don't care what people believe, as long as they don't hurt other people with it or try to force it down other people's throats.

The bible left me with these questions. To me the bible wasn't a book of answers. I think it's a very confusing book if you're looking for answers about god.

but when you put it this way, "oh God is such a meany because he'll send you to hell if you don't like him." that's where i'm trying to correct you. the bible never says that. i could be an atheist myself and read the bible and still conclude the same thing that, no, the bible doesn't say it.

yes, if you want salvation the only way is through Jesus Christ. that's the message of the Bible. you're absolutely right. but no... God doesn't send you to hell because you don't accept Jesus. you sent yourself to hell.

it's like this. you commit a crime. you're going to jail. so now the judge says, ok, you don't have a lawyer to back you up, go to jail. if you do have a lawyer and he has proof to back you up, then you don't go to jail. that's how it is with the message of the bible. God is the judge... christ is the lawyer and you are the suspect.

how disingenious of you. this does not refute anything i said. you pick the wrong religion, you got hell. period. you just said so. it has nothing to do with sin, it has to do with which team you chose.

you analogy is exactly why i can't buy christian theology. your god is a corrupt system. like the OJ trial, you get the dream team attorney and you get off the hook for anything. the merits of your case don't matter. who's representing you does.

me, i like to think that god doesn't need shyster attorneys... he's perceptive enough to pass judgment based on my actions without the smokescreens of attorneys or priests or whatever else.

you don't get it, do you?

to be honest, i feel like i'm trying to explain this to a 13 year old. again, yes, you have to pick the "shyster" attorney in this case. it has everything to do with sin... take the bible as a fairy tale... the fairy tale goes that once upon a time we became very very ill. the only cure for the illness came from a source known as "christ" which was God himself incarnate in a man. it didn't mean that God got so angry because we didn't believe in him so he sent us to hell... on the contrary it's because of our own sinful nature that brought death, or in this case hell. God never meant for hell to serve as a punishment of his creation. No, no, no, no, in our own incredulous minds we began to follow the wrong path which led to hell.

again... yes, if you want to follow the stairway to heaven then follow Jesus. i never said the bible didn't say that. what i am saying is that the bible does not say that God is sending everybody to hell simply because we don't believe in him. that's what you are saying... and you're wrong. that's not what the bible says. the bible says we're already set on our way to hell, no matter what religion... christian, atheist, muslim, judaism... because of our fallen nature. you could even believe in God or believe in Jesus, for that matter, and you're probably still going to hell.

funny, i feel like im trying to get a reasoned answer out of a 6 year old, or the world's slimiest attorney. it's very simple:

can you be buddhist and go to heaven?

if yes= christ doesn't matter and it's your spiritual relationship with god that is important, whether you find it through jesus or buddha

if no= you go to hell if you pick the wrong religion or are unlucky enough to be born in a country where you never hear of jesus.

    which is it?

    a 6 year who's about to bitchslap you... j/k

can you be buddhist and go to heaven? no... i told you that already. "i am the way the truth and the life... yadda, yadda"

the point i'm trying to make with you is that you make God sound like a silly widdle cry-baby who gets so angwy when someone doesn't wanna be his widdle fwend. when that's clearly what i'm trying to explain to you. that's not the case when you read the bible. hell, how do you know if i do or don't believe in the bible? for all i care, i probably changed my beliefs yesterday. and even still as an unbeliever i could tell you again... God doesn't send people to hell just because they don't believe in him. it's a little more complicated than that. people are on their way to hell already... that's the biblical message and Christ came to fix that. can't you agree with that simple fact? well, not as in a matter of fact, but merely a fact that it's how God is portrayed in the bible. that's all, dude. no hard feelings man. geesh...

and im saying that you can't make that point becos it's utterly ridiculous and illogical. to say "i love you all, but you're all born despicable and ill only offer you one way out that you will have to choose from among hundreds of options and might not ever even know about anyway... but i really do love you in the way a casino owner loves all his customers."

and why would i agree with that simple fact? sure, i understand it as a theological concept, but it doesn't in the least change the fact that god seems like quite the vain little prat under that doctrine, certainly not very loving or forgiving if he's telling the indiginous natives of australia they're fucked becos no missions have made it there yet. but no, i dont agree with that fact, jesus to me is just another cool dude.

    Hehe, I liked this joke

A drunk man boards a bus. A Bible thumper tells him, "You're going straight to hell."
The drunk struggles to get up and says, "My God, I'm on the wrong bus."

In Jerusalem, a female CNN journalist heard about a very old Jewish man who had been going to the Wailing Wall to pray, twice a day, everyday, for a long, long time. So she went to check it out. She went to the Wailing Wall and there he was!

She watched him pray and after about 45 minutes, when he turned to leave, she approached him for an interview.

"I'm Rebecca Smith from CNN. Sir, how long have you been coming to the Wall and praying?"

    "For about 60 years."

"60 years! That's amazing! What do you pray for?"

"I pray for peace between the Christians, Jews and the Muslims. I pray for all the hatred to stop and I pray for all our children to grow up in safety and friendship."

"How do you feel after doing this for 60 years?"

"Like I'm talking to a fuckin' wall."
