sting has got to change his banter with the crowd,. does he really think every show , every night , are all completely 1st timers ? ie : the teaching comments before dont stand so , its almost as if hes reading them off the teleprompter.-is there no spontaneity with this guy or what ?
[/i]
He probably is reading it from a teleprompter. I was witness to Axl Rose doing this, I'm sure Gordy Sumner may have that in common with Billy Bailey.
at dodger stadium, when sting "introduced' stewart and andy, stewart said "hey sting, i think most of these people already heard that" or something like that.....:)
When Sting did that the first couple of nights of the tour in Vancouver and got a pretty good laugh it was cute I sure did not think he would actually be saying the same line what 30 shows in to the tour???
Is Sting still making the comment about it being the Andy Summers show?

Well they blew up the chicken man in Philly last night now they blew up his house too
Down on the boardwalk they're gettin' ready for a fight gonna see what them racket boys can do
Now there's trouble busin' in from outta state and the D.A. can't get no relief
Gonna be a rumble out on the promenade and the gamblin' commission's hangin' on by the skin of its teeth
CHORUS
Well now everything dies baby that's a fact
But maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Put your makeup on fix your hair up pretty
And meet me tonight in Atlantic City
Well I got a job and tried to put my money away
But I got debts that no honest man can pay
So I drew what I had from the Central Trust
And I bought us two tickets on that Coast City bus
CHORUS
Now our luck may have died and our love may be cold but with you forever I'll stay
We're goin' out where the sand's turnin' to gold so put on your stockin's baby 'cause the night's getting cold
And everything dies baby that's a fact
But maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Now I been lookin' for a job but it's hard to find
Down here it's just winners and losers and don't get caught on the wrong side of that line
Well I'm tired of comin' out on the losin' end
So honey last night I met this guy and I'm gonna do a little favor for him
Well I guess everything dies baby that's a fact
But maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Put your hair up nice and set up pretty
and meet me tonight in Atlantic City

my section was filled with sitters ( aside from me and my girlfriend - we didnt sit down once. )
i liked how andy refused to leave the stage during the final encores . He let sting and stewart go down into the tunnel, but then andy just stayed up on the centerstage and started his riff into the next song , getting the crowd to cheer.
wrapped around your finger is probably the most dramatic , gong and spindle thimbles included.Kudos to Stewart Copeland as a whole- the guy is incredible.
my other favorites:
voices inside my head
hole in my life
walking in your footsteps.
the sound in that boardwalk hall is very good.

I was a little dissapointed with a few of the songs:

every little thing
were not good, very flat IMHO
Glad I went. Sting still has the pipes, BIG time. Summers stole the show with his playing, and I thought Stewart was a bit too reserved.

Anyone know what types of service charges TicketMaster added on the first time around? I wouldn't mind paying $90, but if it turns into $120 with service charges, I may just grab the cheap seats.
for the $90 seats i paid about $19 in fees....for the $200 seats fees ran about $23  but for me i was worth it.....:)

Thanks for the info cutback!
I just saw the ticket prices for Pittsburgh - $200 Gold Circle, $90 reserved, $40 lawn. I'll probably grab lawn seats, unless I can somehow justify spending $50 MORE for reserved seats, which will likely be picked over from pre-sales/fanclub tickets/etc.

well i'm a huge fan and i saw them 3 times last year.....worht every penny.....yea the setlist didn't change and it was pretty much the same show each night but about a week after my buddy that went with me said that he needed to see another show and i agreed....now we're huge fans so we are little more biased but if are a fan and can swing it $$ wise try for better seats....:)
demand is not as high as it was at the beginning of the tour-so you should be able to choose where you sit.
At some point I just stopped overanalyzing (ticket prices, canned set lists, etc) and enjoyed the live rock show!
Thats what I did. Its like an an expensive restaurant. You dont get what you pay for, but its still a great night out.

that was freaking great and easily my fav of the show I saw in AC

hehehe...is it that bad?? i was thinking about going to see the final show....although i think the hollywood bowl might be the place to see them one last time...:)
well my i went to my final police show last night....elvis costello was a kick ass opener.....sting came out and sung on allison.....the band were much tighter than a year ago....opened with a very mellow bring on the night which was cool but would've preferred a faster version....they've also added hole in my life and demolition man
usually i don't care what the crowd is like at a concert but holy shit did the crowd suck....:( 2 girls sitting next to me looked like simon told them to freeze
I saw them in San Diego on Monday. Fun show, Demolition Man was a definite highlight, made the show for me. My usual Sting rants are still in effect (does every song have to be a singalong?), but the band was tight, and I dug the arrangements. Elvis Costello was a great opener.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.
