Stewart is always pretty much dead on. If it all wasn't reality, it would be a lot funnier, but until the day after the election, it's going to be depressing as hell unless Biden changes course and democrats pull their heads out of their asses.

In the video, Stewart points out that Biden made embarrassing mistakes on both his taped ABC interview and his live Morning Joe call in.

He also points out we just received new and significant information about Biden that they haven’t shared with the public until he crashed at the debate. Not that they wanted to share the truth with voters.

Non partisan Cook political report has shifted six states that were either likely or lean D towards trump now. Biden dug the democrats in a deep hole, how exactly does an 81 year old candidate with obvious challenges make up ground?

    Wow.

On his IG, Stone just shared a petition that calls on Biden to step aside.

    Indeed.

Maybe now that Hollywood is getting involved, we'll get some movement, lest anyone think that regular folks or politicians have more influence than Danny Ocean or Meathead.

    ***

Actor Rob Reiner says “Biden must step aside” following Clooney's op-ed

    From CNN's Betsy Klein

Filmmaker, actor, and prominent Democrat Rob Reiner, a Biden surrogate, has also called for President Joe Biden to step aside.

Reiner, who attended a fundraiser alongside Vice President Kamala Harris after the debate, echoed comments from George Clooney, linking to Clooney’s op-ed.

“My friend George Clooney has clearly expressed what many of us have been saying. We love and respect Joe Biden. We acknowledge all he has done for our country. But Democracy is facing an existential threat. We need someone younger to fight back. Joe Biden must step aside,” Reiner said in a post to social media platform X Wednesday.

Those comments mark the loss of support from another Hollywood voice that the Biden campaign has leaned on in the past.

Reiner began his calls on Biden to step down earlier this week.

“If the Convicted Felon wins, we lose our Democracy. Joe Biden has effectively served US with honor, decency, and dignity. It’s time for Joe Biden to step down,” he wrote Sunday.

This is getting stupid.  All the Dems publicly calling for Biden to get out is not helping the Dems cause.  Either do it quietly in back channels or shut your trap.   Doing it publicly just gives the issue more attention for those that might be on the fence.

Yes but they are running the risk of him staying in and now you’ve told everyone your candidate is not competent.  I don’t see Biden dropping out. And all this should have been done a year ago before the primaries.  The Dems have fucked this up and it might end our democracy because they are too soft.

Voters already know he's not competent/Think it's slightly more likely than not/Completely agree/Don't think democracy will end but would reeeeeeeally not like to see another 4 years of Trump

I think people recognize that they either say something and keep the pressure mounting or sit idly by, cross their fingers, and hope that we don't have a Project 2025 puppet as dictator. We have eyes and ears so if what they are saying could be disputed we wouldn't be at this juncture. We need a new candidate and that person could ride the wave even more than Obama generated 16 years ago if done correctly. However, I don't know how you get around that person being anyone other than Kamala, but she won't pick up the middle so it's probably still a gamble, but a better one than Biden right now.

I thought he could ride it out if only the debate was bad but he was otherwise well - unfortunately, that really doesn't sound like it's the case, or there's been an effective sabotage campaign to make it seem like he's unwell. In either case, I don't think he can bounce back from this. I agree with Jon Stewart - if Democrats nominate someone who can be 1/10th as inspiring as people found Obama, able to communicate effectively, given the existing loathing of Trump, they can win.

I get the feeling Biden already knows he has to drop out. That said, he has to be 100% in until he's 100% out. Honest question though - if he bows out because of his current mental health, will there be impeachment efforts between now and November?

I hate that I know this, since I've thought Michael Moore is a self-aggrandizing sack of sh!t since he was just a loudmouth on local radio, but he's saying that trotting Biden out there and pretending all is well is "elder abuse."
All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.
