This feels like the guy on the roof during the flood waiting for God to rescue him forgoing the boat and helicopter rescues.  The signs are all around us but we’re ignoring them.

In recent years it's interesting to think about how well things have gone for Democrats when they've had a truly open primary (2008, 2020) vs. how poorly it's gone when they should have but didn't (2016, TBD 2024).

They are not allowing their eyes to recognize the truth

The post above yours is very alarming, as if these problems have not been caused by Biden

incompetent Democrat leadership that continues to believe the way to win a presidency is by pointing out the failings of their opponent while ignoring the problems of their own candidate

We could have a younger woman, if Biden resigns, she would be the first woman president, and she could campaign on the dangers of the roberts court to the health and happiness of women,

...but instead we will have a candidate who will  constantly be one step away  of guaranteeing a second trump term, if he makes the tiniest slip that makes him look unfit.

Who’s the other? That you’d vote for in this poll? Asking since there’s no “none of the above.”

Why is the pundit class so desperate to push Biden out of the race?

    Rebecca Solnit

Yes, Biden had a bad debate – but so did Trump. The media is once again repeating the mistakes of 2016

    Sat 6 Jul 2024 10.00 EDTLast modified on Sat 6 Jul 2024 17.40 EDT

I am not usually one to offer diagnoses of people I’ve never met, but it does seem like the pundit class of the American media is suffering from severe memory loss. Because they’re doing exactly what they did in the 2016 presidential race – providing wildly asymmetrical and inflammatory coverage of the one candidate running against Donald J Trump.

They have become a stampeding herd producing an avalanche of stories suggesting Biden is unfit, will lose and should go away, at a point in the campaign in which replacing him would likely be somewhere between extremely difficult and utterly catastrophic. They do this while ignoring something every scholar and critic of journalism knows well and every journalist should. As Nikole Hannah-Jones put it: “As media we consistently proclaim that we are just reporting the news when in fact we are driving it. What we cover, how we cover it, determines often what Americans think is important and how they perceive these issues yet we keep pretending it’s not so.” They are not reporting that he is a loser; they are making him one.

    continues ....

Not going to happen but Michelle Obama. It would be Kamala who is a terrible person and candidate. I’m an independent who’s mostly voted Democrat but never been a fan of Biden. People labeled Trump a racist because he wanted a secure border but Biden’s policies and comments over decades rubbed me the wrong way. Kamala putting 1000s in jail for low level marijuana crime also is unforgivable.

I could’ve sworn he was labeled a racist for his and his dad’s not renting units to black people, for his regular referral to ‘shithole countries’, for his claim that Mexican immigrants are predominantly rapists and drug dealers, for his Muslim ban, for his refusal to strongly denounce white supremacists. Guess all of that was for a secure border?

The below is from wapo. Every innocent story now becomes part of the Biden is in decline narrative.

All because either he is, or his team was completely incapable of having him rested and prepared before appearing live on stage with trump, with no chance of follow-ups for three months.

both mistakes are unprecedented by a successful campaign

    ..

“ Two radio hosts said Saturday they were supplied questions from aides to President Biden before separate interviews with him this week, a move that a campaign spokeswoman defended as routine.

“It’s not at all an uncommon practice for interviewees to share topics they would prefer,” Biden campaign spokeswoman Lauren Hitt said in a statement. She added that agreeing on topics in advance was not a prerequisite of the interview.

The acknowledgment by Biden’s campaign comes as it has been criticized for heavily controlling his public events to minimize potential gaffes during unscripted appearances.

During a 90-minute debate on June 27, the 81-year-old Democrat appeared tired and confused, and at times he delivered rambling answers. His presumptive Republican opponent, 78-year-old former president Donald Trump, unleashed a flurry of falsehoodsduring the debate, which CNN hosted. The parties decided in advance not to have their moderators fact-check in real time.

This is perfectly normal behavior for a President who (a) just had a bad night but is otherwise totally up to the task day to day and (b) has a son whose professional dealings are completely independent of his.
