Wow, ageism is alive and well. Not saying she shouldn’t have retired , however people a hell of a lot younger than Feinstein are shutting down the govt simply because their lord trump hates democrats. Maybe we have far worse things impacting DC than a 90 yo woman.
  • Warren Buffet is 93 years old. Should he be banned from investing on Wall Street or his investment advice dismissed out of hand because, like, he’s really old? How abouts the pope? The pope typically remains head of the Catholic Church until they die. Should they be removed at a certain age? I’ve no sympathy for the Catholic Church but where do you draw the line and for what positions? Surgeons, cops, firefighters, bus drivers, train engineers, architects, programmers, etc., what age is too old and who decides? At least with politicians, the voters decide. Everyone else? Some it’s mandatory, military maybe, others? Who knows. Sometimes it’s the courts, as in “not competent to manage your affairs” or the DMV determining that you’re no longer a competent driver. Why one or some and not others? Who decides?

Don’t forget, you’re going to be old someday and if you’re lucky “really” old.

  • And while some are worried about old people in office, nary a word on the multi-millionaires and billionaires, old as fuck, giving tens of millions of dollars to influence elections and SCOTUS appointments. What’s up with that? Ban them from donating to political parties, causes and campaigns. Just go away and leave the rest of us alone, you old fuck. I’d argue they’re more dangerous than a 90 year old senator or a 80 year old POTUS.

Investing only directly affects the invest so definitely a "no" on that one.

How abouts the pope? The pope typically remains head of the Catholic Church until they die.
I'll go with "no" on that one too.  Lot's of fairy tales end with old men dying.  For example:  The Harry Potter series.

Surgeons, cops, firefighters, bus drivers, train engineers, architects, programmers, etc.,
"Yes" if they are a danger to those they serve, "no" otherwise.

At least with politicians, the voters decide.
Aye, thars the rub, mate.  In a "free" country, you're allowed to vote, so by putting a limit on candidates edge could be seen as a conflict that way.  That is quite the conundrum.  But I still believe elderly politicians ought to have the sense to gracefully retire, especially those in ill health.  Why people keep voting for them is beyond me.  Another reason why it's always a good idea to advocate for educating and signing up younger voters!

Don’t forget, you’re going to be old someday and if you’re lucky “really” old.
For sure.   I'm only 72 and of relatively sound mind, but I know what I am and am not capable of.  I sure as hell am not sharp enough to hold down a job as difficult and serious as being a lawmaker, fire fighter, heart surgeon, train engineer, bus driver, or pilot.  No freakin' way!
But pope?  Oh heck yeah.  Or any other character in a fairy tale.  I'm your man.

Her near death state was still more productive than the entirety of the young and rebellious GOP. Youngster tubberville shut it down much longer on his own. Feinstein missed votes bc of shingles complications. Besides , what laws didn’t get passed that would have with a split congress?

if someone is repeatedly sick bc of age, I agree, time to retire. But respecting elders has taken a strange turn in America. More people are concerned about Bidens age than trumps illegal activities. How many days has Biden missed due to illness? Yet his age is a top concern.

I tend to think that counseling someone to step down and live a nice life at a certain point instead of desperately hanging onto power in their 90’s when they are unable to perform the full duties of their job for extended periods of time is respecting elders.

I feel the same about Mitch currently.

Wow, ageism is alive and well. Not saying she shouldn’t have retired , however people a hell of a lot younger than Feinstein are shutting down the govt simply because their lord trump hates democrats. Maybe we have far worse things impacting DC than a 90 yo woman.
She missed almost 13% of the votes. 2nd most. But yeah I’m sure her age wasn’t the issue.

Yet his age is a top concern.

and fuckstick is only 3 yrs younger.
anybody want to bet if trump can ride a bike?

if it has 4 wheels and is also known as  golf cart, then yeah.

    Haha!

Yeah, riding with one hand about to do a bunny hop barspin:

In fairness, he probably couldn't when he was 30, either.
