spoiler alert:mickeyrat said:spit take.....Anti-vaccine activist RFK Jr. challenging Biden in 2024By MICHELLE L. PRICE17 mins agoNEW YORK (AP) — Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an anti-vaccine activist and scion of one of the country’s most famous political families, is running for president. Kennedy filed a statement of candidacy Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission. The 69-year-old’s campaign to challenge incumbent President Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination is a long shot. Self-help author Marianne Williamson is also running in the Democratic race. Kennedy, a nephew of President John F. Kennedy and the son of his slain brother Robert F. Kennedy, was once a bestselling author and environmental lawyer who worked on issues such as clean water. But more than 15 years ago, he became fixated on a belief that vaccines are not safe. He emerged as one of the leading voices in the anti-vaccine movement, and his work has been described by public health experts and even members of his own family as misleading and dangerous. Kennedy had been long involved in the anti-vaccine movement, but the effort intensified after the COVID-19 pandemic and development of the COVID-19 vaccine. His anti-vaccine charity, Children’s Health Defense, prospered during the pandemic, with revenues more than doubling in 2020 to $6.8 million, according to filings made with charity regulators. His organization has targeted false claims at groups that may be more prone to distrust the vaccine, including mothers and Black Americans, experts have said, which could have resulted in deaths during the pandemic. Kennedy released a book in 2021, “The Real Anthony Fauci,” in which he accused the U.S.’s top infectious disease doctor of assisting in “a historic coup d’etat against Western democracy” and promoted unproven COVID-19 treatments such as ivermectin, which is meant to treat parasites, and the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine. His push against the COVID-19 vaccine has linked him at times with anti-democratic figures and groups. Kennedy has appeared at events pushing the lie that the 2020 presidential election was stolen and with people who cheered or downplayed the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. A photo posted on Instagram showed Kennedy backstage at a July 2021 Reawaken America event with former President Donald Trump’s ally Roger Stone, former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and anti-vaccine profiteer Charlene Bollinger. All three have promoted the lie about the 2020 election being stolen. The photo was posted but later removed by Bollinger, who has appeared with Kennedy at multiple events. She and her husband sponsored an anti-vaccine, pro-Trump rally near the Capitol on Jan. 6. Bollinger celebrated the attack and her husband tried to enter the Capitol. Kennedy later appeared in a video for their Super PAC. Kennedy has repeatedly invoked Nazis and the Holocaust when talking about measures aimed at mitigating the spread of COVID-19, such as mask requirements and vaccine mandates. He has sometimes apologized for those comments, including when he suggested that people in 2022 had it worse than Anne Frank, the teenager who died in a Nazi concentration camp after hiding with her family in a secret annex in an Amsterdam house for two years. Kennedy has at times invoked his family’s legacy in his anti-vaccine work, including sometimes using images of President Kennedy. His sister Kerry Kennedy, who runs Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, the international rights group founded by their mother, Ethel, said her brother has at times removed some of the content at her request. She told the Associated Press in a 2021 interview her brother is “completely wrong on this issue and very dangerous.”

Probably banking on Q believers to pull the lever for him just as Q said would happen. Loses the primary but joins POOTWH as Veep. All part of the plan. What’s the date today? 4/5. Exactly.gimmesometruth27 said:

Sweeping generalizations seem to be all the rage these days (thanks, social media), but If anyone is actually interested in the reported data concerning domestic violence, here you go. Politicizing this is fucking ridiculous.0

Sure, most of us knew that domestic violence didn't exist until men began dressing up as women. Pretty much all I see is hate (online and in the media, at least). Hate for the right, hate for the left, there is no shortage, and the psychological impact is clearly evident for those who regularly partake. It takes two to tango, and that’s probably the leading factor as to why the number of independents continues to grow. One can only hope that the result will be a much more objective electorate.HughFreakingDillon said:

well of course all you're going to see is hate. hate sells. the angriest voices are the loudest. it's why I don't watch the news or read editorials anymore. the whole purpose is nothing more than triggering you to consume more to feed it.
I will say that I do see a very distinct difference between the two "sides". (I hate that even exists). I don't ever, or rarely ever, see liberals mentioning "the right" (except in my exaggerated "culture wars" comment above) in their disdain for any given cause. I don't see a lot of generalized hate from the left (except in singular cases). I wouldn't even classify it as hate. More contempt. But I do see a lot of that from some conservatives. from liberals, I see contempt of policy. Contempt of injustice. Contempt (or maybe hate) of individuals (like trump and desantis).
but I don't see much, if any, hate of an entire political view.
liberals want to live their lives. conservatives want you to live their lives.
now, this view could easily be a skewed view as a product of my own bias. absolutely. we all have it. myself included. I do my best to stay objective (it's fucking difficult in today's climate-especially with someone so fucking easy to hate as trump). that's the best we can try to do. But sometimes, when shit boils over, objectivity goes out the window. I try not to post when I feel that, but sometimes giving in is all too easy.Post edited by HughFreakingDillon onYour boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0

I tend to agree with much of what you have to say, Hugh. As far as the actions of the loudest, to me they appear very similar, and imo equally off putting. The overuse of generalizations seems to be a common theme from both camps as well in my limited exposure. Perspective varies greatly from person to person, and I totally understand why people feel the need to draw lines, even if I don’t always agree. It’s the manner in which people choose to disagree that I have the hardest time understanding. I also recognize that you value and favor/favour objectivity, as do I.HughFreakingDillon said:well of course all you're going to see is hate. hate sells. the angriest voices are the loudest. it's why I don't watch the news or read editorials anymore. the whole purpose is nothing more than triggering you to consume more to feed it.

As a rule, I've been trying to stay away from all broadcast news, especially cable. This goes for the CNNs & MSNBCs of the world as much as Fox & the rest of the RW networks.mrussel1 said:

People need to start taking responsibility for and think critically about the media they're consuming... It's hard this day in age, but crucial.0

I am not sure I agree with you about the hate. I think it's there. But in this political environment is is too tough to even have these conversations. There is no seeking to understand no willingness to move 1 mm away from your stance.HughFreakingDillon said:well of course all you're going to see is hate. hate sells. the angriest voices are the loudest. it's why I don't watch the news or read editorials anymore. the whole purpose is nothing more than triggering you to consume more to feed it.
I try not to post when I feel that, but sometimes giving in is all too easy.hippiemom = goodness0
