Important Cancelation Notice for Sacramento and Las Vegas

Dear PJ fans and ticket holders,

While the band battled through Oakland after drummer Matt Cameron tested positive for Covid, and Fresno where Ed and the band got through it with the help of Dave Krusen as special guest drummer, they now have to present the heartbreaking news that this morning bassist Jeff Ament has tested positive for Covid.

This is horrible for everybody involved and we are especially sorry to those out there who have made plans to attend these shows.

Our attention to staying inside the bubble has been constant. We have truly done all that we could have to remain clear of infection.

Regretfully, the Sacramento and Las Vegas shows are canceled. Ticket refunds will be automatically processed to ticket holders' method of purchase. We are so very sorry. Be safe out there.

The four of us are vaxxed and boosted and we still got it. Was not fun, so I am sure they are feeling it.

“Being careful” has nothing to do with it.  It’s a highly contagious airborne virus.  And I’m sure they’ll both be fine.

  • Covid happens but why didnt they just postpone instead of cancel. Canceling makes the whole situation even more disheartening for all the fans that had tickets to these shows. This was supposed to be my dad and sons first pearl jam show so sad

Echo sending positive vibes to Matt and Jeff, and the whole crew. I'm sure this is the last thing they wanted. I do wonder what this means for the viability of future tours. Are all tours following the same protocol/standards? Seeing this pop up on a short run like this makes me surprised there haven't been more tours/shows cancelled because members of bands test positive. Is this just terrible luck? Maybe questions for another thread.

I don't know what's happening with other tours -- are people getting sick? are they testing diligently? -- but I do know that the US is experiencing another surge, and given the availability of at-home testing nobody is really sure just how big that surge is. Omicron is crazy contagious, and many people who have been vaccinated won't even know they are infected.
All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.
