Another example of why some don’t trust the government. We knew N95 was better than cloth but why just now at about 2 years in the CDC is saying this? Tell the people what they should do from the start. Maybe more would produce N95 masks and make up for the higher demand sooner.
Yes, YT is a private company. Just another example though of control of thought. Facebook banned any talk about the virus coming from a lab until the Biden administration said it was a possibility (then it was okay to talk about again).
Some on the right see their opinions/thoughts disregarded or told it is misinformation when end of the day they aren’t too far from the truth or mainstream sometimes. This creates distrust and people may be prone to believe more crackpot theories.

I'm not saying everything the CDC says is right and everything that Rand Paul says is right, but in this instance I'd rather someone tell me that cloth masks aren't protecting me and to use N95 masks, versus the group that waits two years to encourage everyone to wear N95 masks instead of cloth.

Two years ago, didn’t we all know that medical shields were the best, followed by N95, followed by surgical, followed by cloth, followed by neck gaiters, followed by nothing.
Did you really think that N95 and cloth were equal?

They don’t. This is all nonsense from people that clearly have never worked with PPE previously.
N95s are obviously better as they are engineered for a uniform barrier that specifically blocks a certain % of a certain size. This has been the case forever and only an idiot would think they were more protective all along.
Certainly cloth masks do not protect as well. But it also stupid to just say cloth masks don’t work…what material? How many layers? How is the fit?
This isn’t hard…except for people with agendas vs science/truth.

This is a false statement. Cloth masks work when worn properly, but aren't as effective as N95...We've known this since the beginning. If I am going to the beach and all I have is spf 15 I'm not going to forego sunscreen altogether because SPF 15 isn't as effective as SPF 80. Jesus Christ some people are thick!

Ridiculous...not as good as N95 but to say they aren't better than no protection is just about as ignorant as you can get

More context for the discussion of being hospitalized "for covid" or "with covid".
Researchers are seeing that the distinction is not as clear as many are portraying it to be. For instance: Many patients who test positive while in hospital for another issue wind up having poorer outcomes than those who aren't battling a coronavirus infection, Betts said.
Multiple studies from various countries suggest higher death rates for patients being treated for hip fractures who also tested positive for the coronavirus, compared to those who tested negative, for instance. Having a coronavirus infection also makes it riskier to get various types of surgery, and increases the odds that someone who's pregnant will have a preterm delivery, stillbirth, or other complications.

Absolutely a cloth mask is better than no mask. As I have said before, i don’t want the government to say that a mask is not necessary because they failed to plan for an epidemic and there aren’t enough masks. Tell me how to best protect myself. Companies would have ramped up production on N95 versus cloth masks.

Yeah I don't think that's true. Cloth masks were made by clothing companies to capitalize on a quick opportunity. KN95 are PPEs and one would expect those were made by medical supply companies. People chose to use cloth. In my house, there were all three types (surgical, KN95 and cloth). Everyone seemed to grab the cloth because they never broke and they were 'prettier'. But we all knew 95's were the best.

The most logical solution to the mask issue is to pay more attention to what scientists and medical experts say, less attention to what politicians say, and almost no attention to what people on Facebook say.

The only problem with that is that the medical leaders said masks weren’t necessary when they knew they were.

Perhaps, but I think we should know the truth from the start.
