Maybe because one is now a reality and the other is just a joke?

I think his point was that abortions will still happen, but they will occur in uncontrolled and less safe settings. Same as banning guns. Less control and regulation than there already is.
    It's a hopeless situation...

I see what gimme was trying to get at, but yeah, making that argument to keep abortion legal is basically making the argument AGAINST banning guns.

The report that the NRA doesn't want you to see. See? More guns do indeed make us safer. Data-Schmata. Tejas and Flo Rida leading the way with the "responsible" gun owners.

This volume presents and analyzes data collected by A TF and other federal agencies related to the manufacture, exportation, and importation of firearms. Between 2000 and 2020, the number of Gun Control Act (GCA) firearms and National Firearms Act (NF A) weapons that were domestically manufactured, exported by U.S. manufacturers, or imported into the U.S. increased by 187%, 240% and 350% respectively. This data illustrates the flow of new firearms into the domestic market over time which can help document trends and patterns in commerce. Trends in firearm commerce highlighted by this report include the pistol becoming the dominant firearm type manufactured and imported into the U.S. over the last decade, and an increase of 24,080% in annual manufacturing of short-barreled rifles in the period from 2000 to 2020.

This volume analyzes technological developments that have occurred in the past 20 years. One of the most significant developments affecting lawful firearm commerce and law enforcement's ability to reduce illegal access to guns in this period has been the proliferation of privately made firearms (PMFs). Since the early 2000s, advances in firearm manufacturing and design, combined with the readily online availability ofparts and information necessary to assemble PMFs have made it easier for unlicensed persons to make a firearm at home without any records or a background check. These PMFs lack identifying markings or recordkeeping requirements making it difficult for law enforcement to completely know how many are being made and distributed into commerce. The data available, however, makes it clear that criminals are actively making, using, and distributing PMFs both domestically and internationally. Indeed, the number of suspected PMFs recovered by law enforcement and subsequently traced by ATF increased 1,000% between 2016 and 2021. As is detailed in the report, to address the challenges posed by the proliferation of PMFs, the Department of Justice and ATF have recently updated the regulatory definitions applicable to the federal firearm laws.

Percentage ofTotal Reported Loss Incidents As reflected in Table IL-06a, the top ten states with the highest number of loss incidents accounted for 46% (2,799) of all loss incidents for this period. Texas (9%) and Florida (8%) had the highest number of loss incidents between 2016 and 2020. Table IL-06a: Top Ten States by Reported FF (Page 107)

Maybe instead of diplomas, they should hand out a gun? They’re going to need one. Everyone knows it’s the only way to be safe.

Clearly more guns are the answer. Nothing but good things come from having more guns. There’s more guns than all forms of motorized transport in ‘Murica. Whoop whoop!

Firearms were involved in 79% of all homicides and 53% of all suicides in 2020. Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a historic increase of 35% in the firearm homicide rate, resulting in the highest firearm homicide rate in more than 25 years. This, along with increases in firearm suicide rates for some groups, has widened racial, ethnic, and other disparities, according to a new CDC Vital Signs analysis.

Firearm homicide rates are consistently highest among males, adolescents, young adults, and non-Hispanic Black and non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) people. In 2020, firearm homicide rates increased across all age groups, with the highest rates and increases observed among those 10–44 years old. Considering age, sex, and race/ethnicity simultaneously, the largest increases in firearm homicide rates were among non-Hispanic Black males 10–44 years old.

The overall firearm suicide rate remained nearly level between 2019 and 2020, with age-specific rate increases among persons 10–44 years old, partially offset by a decrease among those 45–64 years old. Considering age, sex, and race/ethnicity simultaneously, rates of firearm suicide increased most notably among non-Hispanic AI/AN males aged 10–44.

Among the key findings for firearm homicides:

    • Rates increased for both males and females, but more notably among males.
    • The highest rates and increases occurred among non-Hispanic Black persons.
    • Rates increased across the country in large and small metro areas, as well as non-metro and rural areas.
    • Rates were higher and showed larger increases in counties with higher poverty levels.

Among the key findings for firearm suicides:

    • The overall rate remained nearly level between 2019 and 2020.
    • Rates increased most notably among non-Hispanic AI/AN males aged 10–44 years old.
    • Overall, rates were highest at the highest poverty level and lowest at the lowest poverty level.
    • Non-metro and rural areas experienced the highest rates.

Long-standing systemic inequities and structural racism may contribute to unfair and avoidable health disparities among some racial and ethnic groups.

“The tragic and historic increase in firearm homicide and the persistently high rates of firearm suicide underscore the urgent need for action to reduce firearm-related injuries and deaths,” said CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, M.D., M.P.H. “By addressing factors contributing to homicide and suicide and providing support to communities, we can help stop violence now and in the future.”

Wayne Lapue has been awful quiet of late. Maybe that fraud exposure has him lying low? Regardless, what 'Murica needs is more guns. More guns keep us safer.

UVALDE, Texas — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says 15 people were killed in a shooting Tuesday at an elementary school.

Abbott says the suspected shooter, an 18-year-old man, also died and was believed to be killed by responding officers. He says 14 children and one teacher were killed at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, about 85 miles west of San Antonio.

Abbott says the shooter had a handgun and possibly a rifle.

It’s no permit carry of handguns as of last September. Before that you needed a CC permit.  Don’t think anything changed with long guns besides generally the laws are getting more lax at the exact time they should be tightening them

I support Republican border security, national defense, and fiscal policy, and some of their other philosophies while abhorring them for those 3 things you mentioned.  Most Americans are in the middle.  This hardline stance on either side has to end.  Both sides have shitter agendas to promote the extremes.

If I do one thing before I leave Texas it will be voting against Abbot and Cruz, it doesn't even matter who the blue vote is.  This place is the pits. This gun shit has to end. Can't wait until I leave TX but I will make sure to get that ballot in against those two assholes before I do.

I used to be a Republican when they pretended to be about small government.  Now, this is their fiscal policy, which has pitted Americans against each other so the few can take more and more.  I left the party when Palin was chosen as McCain's VP because their chosen path was clear.  I will never vote Republican again in my life.
